twintornados
MB pickup truck article If Daimler really wanted a piece of the lucrative US pick up truck market, you'd think they would introduce a line of Freightliner pickup trucks and offer a high-end model of that.... akirby
Note they're not planning this for the U.S. Market.

RichardJensen
I saw his comments after I wrote that. I was expecting a much more Pete D. response. I was kind of disappointed.
Fgts
Can't believe i'm about to defend Benz here but I wouldn't scoff to much in this decision as VW offers the Amorok in the nations that Benz is targeting as it's too a pricey midsize and Benz do have truck experience . Even if offered in the US I wouldn't expect high sales numbers (think Sprinter vs Express/Transit sales) .
bzcat
The article is half baked. The source is unclear but we do know that Mercedes is planning a new G-class, which is available in pickup truck configurations so it could be that they just told suppliers the new G pickup truck is part of the mix. BTW, G glass pickup truck is available in normal utility version or crazy middle east oil money versions. So Mercedes won't be making the world's first luxury pickup truck. They will just be making another one. Edited March 27, 2015 by bzcat

Speaking of Peter D., he's announced that this week will be his last posting on autoextremist.com. I don't always agree with him, but I do read his website every week. akirby
Couldn't that be an April fool's joke? "Happy April 1st" underneath the car picture would say yes.
atomcat68
That's my point. I don't even bother reading articles with that date.
LincolnV
Couldn't that be an April fool's joke? Yeah - I screwed up. Thing is it was posted before April 1st and I didn't pay attention enough to think otherwise.
