speedingtones
Will installing a cold air intake improve my 2005 Ford F-150 XLT's fuel efficiency and horse power?
akirby
Fuel efficiency? Nope. Power? By itself - possibly, but not much and only at WOT. Add a new larger exhaust and a tuner and you'd probably see a modest increase in power.
J-150
You'll get as much power increase as a couple of VTEC stickers.
waloud
I have 1 on my 05. Going back to stock as soon as I get the time to change it. Never noticed any improvements, did notice more noise.
theoldwizard
One BIG issue with any "gauze" air cleaner is that they get very dirty, very fast ! Yes the air cleaner lasts a long time, but it need to be service often. In dusty areas, every 2,000-3,00 miles ! People who do NOT service their gauze air cleaner will see a SIGNIFICANT reduction in power !

I thought the whole point was to let it get dirty which increases the filtration capability (up to a certain point that is). You're not supposed to clean it every 3K miles. J-150
Are we talking cold air or that K&N crap that just takes hot air from under the hood? Every car I've owned over the past 30 years had the air intake routed from the grill or wheel opening. Which are both outside (cold) air. J-150
We should also discuss the advanced computing on a modern Ford engine that already compensates and adjusts for the volume and temperature of incoming air.
Copperhorse
Should give you a few extra HP.
