Tennessee toy
Help! Wife went through car wash and broke both brackets that attach power retractable running boards on 2013 EL Limited. Ford wants 4K to fix it. Motors work, brackets broke. Any direction to go?
MKX1960
A wrecking yard may be able to help. They likely are the same for several years and probably more than just the Expedition.
fordtech1
Is it the idler bracket or the bracket with the motor attached? If it's the idler bracket, maybe it could be welded back depending on where it broke. Where both boards deployed during wash? Also, check with insurance company. Not sure if that would be comprehensive coverage, but for the cost maybe worth letting them pay. That's why you pay for it.
Tennessee toy
I appreciate the comments. I have checked junk yards - need to keep checking. Boards were deployed. Broke off driver side. It broke both aluminium idler brackets.
fordtech1
eBay has some brackets for $500. Also, something that may be an option is aftermarket boards. Amp makes some that look like the Ford oem and are $1400 a pair
Bob Rosadini
And where was the car wash attendant when this took place? If they don't have the clearance it seems this is something they should have been aware of.
Schpark
I had a car wash break the sideview mirror off my Focus. I reported it so they could repair it but all I got was a letter from an out of state law office stating that they did not do the damage and would not pay to fix it. Cue typical lawyer joke here. My damage was not as much but I suspect you would get the same answer.
