akirby
Saw this at my nephew’s wedding yesterday in Bogart, GA (near Athens). It’s a replica of Don “Digger” O’Dell’s 53 Packard Clipper driven there by his son Bruce. It has a straight 8 engine. Bruce said his dad like the straight 8 because he thought it had more torque coming out of turns. He won the Milwaukee Mile in 53. Bruce had some cool stories about his father and his son who worked for Panoz with Andy Lally for several years. Very cool.

fuzzymoomoo
About this time last year I came across a '52 Packard 300 with a straight 8 for $2500. The body and interior needed work and it needed brakes but was otherwise driveable according to the seller. I'm still kicking myself for passing that up (I was facing a long temporary layoff and I let my wife talk me out of it), it would have made a great project car to work on with my son when he gets a little older. mackinaw
Class all the way. Back in the 1920's and 30's, Packard was THE American luxury car. Its tagline "Ask the Man who owns One" is considered one of the great ad lines of all time.,
