bzcat
Tundra makes good retail volume. What Toyota has been unable to do in the US is to make a serious dent in the commercial fleet market. This is mainly due to the fact that it doesn't have a full line of vans and HD trucks to complement the Tundra. The success of US Big 3 in trucks are in part due to the breath of offering and the very robust fleet sales support that makes it difficult for Toyota (and Nissan, which tried much harder than Toyota) to compete. In other fleet segments where commercial vans or HD trucks are not part of the product portfolio that buyers are interested, Toyota has chased the domestic companies out of a lot of fleet volume - e.g. taxi, company sales rep cars, rental cars, govt general use vehicle pool etc. Toyota Prius and Camry hybrid are basically the default fleet car now the way Ford Taurus or Crown Vic used to be. While Toyota marketing people can use that info to highlight the cars' durability and low operating costs, fleet sales like this are not good for Toyota's image or its profitability. rmc523
No, fleet sales don't matter when it's Toyota/Honda/non American. When it's American, they're absolutely terrible.

With respect, you already know the answer rperez817 sir, Commercial fleet vehicles as opposed to daily rental and taxi fleet sales. Ford estimates that it's deal will result in 8 million vehicles over the life of the deal. Ford's most profitable vehicles are F Series, Ranger and Tansit.
