The transition to BEV as soon as possible will be necessary for Mustang to maintain its "best-selling sports car in the world" title for the next 10 years. Ford's primary marketing objective right now for Mustang is to create and build anticipation and demand for the all-new 2024 Mustang. Announcing plans for the Mustang BEV generation now will be premature at this point and serve as a distraction with BEV Mustang's not expected to launch for a number of years yet. Ford's current focus is to ramp up production on current BEV models and those expected to launch in the next couple of years with higher volume and profit potential than Mustang. Like it or not, Mustang in either ICE or BEV form is a niche vehicle with limited sales potential.
