2023 f250 buy back / 2024 f350 lost in production land

I'm sure this is part of a topic that's been going around since the China Virus.  So here it goes.

Back in 2018 my business started growing so I needed a bigger truck to pull my equipment with so I purchased a brand new 2019 F250 Lariat diesel. It had most of the features I wanted/needed but that's all they had to pick from. My salesman suggested to drive this truck to figure out what I wanted/needed & order a new truck.

So in March of 2023 I sat down & ordered a brand new 2023 F250 Lariat HO diesel. It arrived in June of 2023 & I took delivery in July 2023. Awesome truck! I was super pleased or so I thought I was. I quickly learned things on the window sticker I paid for were missing & right away the electrical issues started. So I took it back to my dealer in August of 2023 with 23 problems, not being petty either, problems like pulling my 14k trailer down the highway & it pops up on the screen NO TRAILER DETECTED. Now that will get your attention quick, but the trailer brakes actually still worked.

Anyway, 5 weeks later I go pick up my truck & only a few things were resolved (no fault of the dealership). So I made contact with Ford Customer Service who in turn had the Ford Buy Back Team contact me. After a while terms were agreed upon & Ford was buying my truck back. They suggested I go find another truck.  Well the supply problems were still there. No one had a F250 Lariat with what I wanted.  The buy back team said try ordering one. So on December 1st, 2023 I ordered a 2024 F350 instead of a F250 due to the fact there was only a small amount of money difference.

Now fast forward to now & my clock is running out. Buy back team will only honor their deal for a short time & my ordered truck is still lost in Production Land. No one can tell me when or why my truck hasn't been scheduled other than blaming it on Supply issues.

Well based on my research & countless forums about this subject I say BS. I've seen people ordered their 2024 Super Duty after my order & they have already taken delivery.  None of these people had the nightmare I did of a lemon truck. Those other people posted screen shots of their orders with all the dates on there & the build sheet showing they got more equipment on their truck than I did. So why the delay? I've seen guys out there who have been waiting over a year or two for an ordered truck Which is sad.

I didn't ask for a defective truck but I'm sure paying for one. Yes, Ford has been right at my side to buy it back but after that they dropped the ball. In my opinion the Buy Back Team should be able to have a part in expediting my ordered truck to resolve my problems that I did not ask for but I'm paying for. If stock units more equipped than my ordered truck are coming out then one would think my truck would be a priority.

Yes, I'm fussing & complaining because I bought a $90k truck for my business & personal use that is defective at no fault of mine. So this leaves me with two choices, one is close my one man business I've worked hard to establish because I'm running out of time with the buy back team or two let Ford buy it back & take my business to GMC. It's a difficult decision but it's one that I must make very soon. I've been very loyal to Ford over the years & I would like to think they are loyal to me. I've owned over 65 vehicle in my life time mostly have been Fords. I would like to continue that loyalty but at this point I may have to move on to GMC. Yes, I've called every number there is, Buy Back Team tried too, & so has the dealership to find out the problem. No, I'm not special or better than anyone I just feel due to the issues caused by Ford on my 2023 they would jump to help me ALL THE WAY & not just part of the way. Thanks for listening.

The question is where are you in your dealer’s order queue and what is the priority?   There are commodity holds on parts all the time not just during Covid although most are short term and your dealer has all those details.

In addition to akirby's response... If the "Buy Back" office at Ford didn't have the ability or wasn't able to have your order expedited, the dealership should have immediately contacted the Regional Scheduler, usually through the Ford Zone Manager, to have your order reprioritized to "01" status. In cases such as yours, Ford will make every effort to make exceptions to any applicable commodity restraints to expedite scheduling and production. In a "Buy Back" situation, expedited scheduling should override dealership allocation or that of any other unscheduled retail orders. I don't know how much communication there was from the dealership but it's difficult to think that they monitored your order status closely or provided much or any assistance.

Well I called Ford Customer Service yesterday & the nice guy I spoke with had zero clue what I was talking about or how to up channel my problem.  So he decided to transfer me to Ford Marketing Team & I spoke with Ms Connie. She said she didn't know why I was sent to them but she would do everything she could to help me & call me back the next day. Honestly I just need the phone number to the regional Ford Rep for Mobile, AL area.

On another note I found several Chevy & GMC Trucks in stock with the equipment I want. Now do I really jump to GM??

Ford does not release phone numbers for contacts at the Ford regional offices. If it were me and the dealership wasn't communicating or responding with information, I'd call Ford Customer Service and file a complaint against the dealership for being unresponsive. The dealership will be notified and have to take action. Frustrating and inexcusable that everyone seems to be passing the buck.

So today, 3-25-24 I was informed by the dealership that they spoke to their Ford Rep & were told there's nothing they can do now to speed up the build of my truck. However once it's scheduled they can step in & get it expedited.

This is ridiculous!! The Factory workers caused this issue because they wanted more money so I got a $90k lemon!! Then, Ford gives them what they want & I'm still stuck with THEIR subpar work!!

My buy back offer is about to expire along with my private offer of $2k & my business is suffering over this!!! Yes!! I'm mad!! Yes, I'm venting!! Heck, who else will actually listen & understand my frustration!! Ford Damn sure isn't listening but they took my money without hesitation! In 2023 alone I spent over $150k with Ford on vehicles!!

I can promise this! If FORD MOTOR CO leaves me out to dry I will sell ALL my Ford vehicles & buy GMC for my business & my personal needs until my last breath!!

They say it's supply issues & I say BS!! It's an excuse to be lazy!!! If they can build stock XLT units with add-ons  that I ordered for my Lariat & deliver those trucks to dealerships around the country then there is NO EXCUSE in my book.

I've seen on various forums screen shot of guys ordering after I did of the same truck / features & take delivery!! Ford explain that one!!

I've know the people at the dealership personally for over 20 years & they have always took care of me.. I believe they are doing all they can. This is Ford Motor Company's fault PERIOD!!

ALso, another electrical problem started yesterday while towing. Warning came up & said front & rear sensors not working. Then when I turned on my blinker the cameras failed to come on. While backing my trailer up the back up alert kept going off alerting that I was about to hit something as if the trailer was not connected.

If anyone has some advise as to what to do please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for letting me vent!!

As always, it is sometimes good to vent - but you are blaming the workers for an issue that even you admit is FoMoCo's fault. I hope you get your situation rectified but no one would blame you if you went to the GMC dealership and gave them some biz.
