"For this vehicle, final assembly point Yantai ETDZ.P.R China" means the engine was shipped to China, mated to the transmission then the car was shipped here. It would seem to me that with all the logistics, It would be simpler to just build it here somewhere. The price is comparable to like- model GMC Terrains, which are built in Mexico. Maybe the 2.0L is considered to high end for the Chinese market? From what I understand, some of the engines used in Fords or Ford JVs in China are using an old Mitsubishi I4 that the locals know better for repairs and parts. Yea, GM uses it primarily on mid and high end vehicles in China and the U.S. The engine is called 'LSY' internally. It's a pretty new design, I think it was first introduced in 2018 or 2019. It competes with the twin-scroll 2.0L Ecoboost used in Fords and Lincolns. The Ford engine is more powerful and torquey, though
ANTAUS
Funny story, Picture it, 1995 Miami, first job. Owners mother comes in shows off her Lexus Es300...She hated it. She looks out the window in front of the business"OH I wish I could buy that" (it was my mothers 94 740iL-it was blocking my car in the garage so took hers) and I'm like, yeah it's my mothers, you can afford that, you own the franchise owner and own a few stores "why didn't you?" she like "I can't I'm Jewish" I'm like "Ok so splurge a little"...shes like "NO Anthony you don't get it, I'm Jewish, I can't own a German vehicle"... I'm like "hm didn't know that was a concern".... A week later she shows up with a new Ford Explorer...She was sssoooo happy...she shows it off and guess what I said "Hmm I thought you couldn't own a German vehicle"...she's says "Hmm this is a Ford" I tell her "look at your Monroney sticker, Your engine was made in Cologe Germany, as well as your transmission!"... She was not happy...surprised she didn't fire me, oh she hated me, but I was the best employee they had LOL Maybe it takes a generation but honestly after awhile, people stop caring...Look where Hyundai is today, after hearing in the 80s/90s "OH I will never"....Bad credit and cheap prices are sometimes way of converting LOL
