  1. um well ok then-i'll bring the explorer the to next BBQ
  2. i own a mazda5, and it might be the most perfect car i've ever owned. BUT if ford would have had this type of vehicle on the lots, i would have bought it.
  3. so under that logic-it would be ok to park a subaru that was built in indiana by american workers right? and if i come to a party at your house in my zx5, are you going to come out and run my VIN to make sure it wasn't built in mexico?
  4. no one cares what you think- do a google search on R.Bud Dwyer- then do what he did
  5. assuming they did visit a factory- do you really think they would even know what they were looking at or how to spot inefficiencies? those guys are white collar, college bred, bean counters. they only look at metrics on spreadsheets, not the actual operations. besides, if a plant knew one of them were coming, they'd do all the can to show them their best areas and hide all the other problem areas so it wouldn't matter anyway. hell you should see the "dog and pony show" at our plant when a SBU manager or VP makes a visit let alone a top guy.
  6. 2003 focus zx5 40,000 trouble free miles 2004 explorer xlt the truck and engine are fantastic but the tranny is SHIT. only 20000 miles of very mild driving. thank goodness its a lease. it's disappointing because like i said its a beatiful suv with a great interior but awful to drive. wont go into reverse and sometimes slips out of gear while driving.
  7. i dont think unbelievable needed to be hyphenated...go ahead and dig your heels in and refuse to change. whats the point of having 35 different classifications if you have no plant to work in?
  8. A BRIEF SUMMARY from the walton hills info paper today 8-8-2006 elimination of tag relief except on "hot" lines train production in quality inspection-use inspectors mainly for weld checks and dimentional reduce cleaners but not totally eliminate oiler classification material handling will become just 2 classifications-clerical and equipment operator die staging done by production line teams( which i read as eliminate die set classification buy outs- 120 skilled 60 non-skilled 120 more in near future no major changes for skilled trades BUT does say the plant will support any changes that come from the 2007 national contract-- allow use of personal days after the fact-IF the employee has had perfect attendace RATIFICATION OF THESE CHANGES GARAUNTEES "NEW" WORK TO WALTON HILLS. ECONOLINE FLOOR PAN,ECONOLINE REAR DOORS ASSEMBLIES, AND E-ROOFS. VOTE THIS FRIDAY 8-12
  9. maybe you're right. but none of us were too worried about ford's gas guzzling trucks/suvs when we were cashing our $5000 profit sharing checks in the 90's.
  10. he was at walton hills last week. he said if we dont open the contract like chicago stamping did, then we can forget about any new work. he didnt say closing but definatly no new work. can anyone say WHIPSAWING?
  11. 03 zx5 with auto and i get about 31 on the highway---i get better milage with the A/C on than windows down. i think my open sunroof creates alot of drag too
  12. can anyone from there tell me if you guys have started the install for the new econoline fender assembly.
  13. um hey dummy-"instead of listening to what the consumers have been saying."--the f-150 is the best selling vehicle in the world. what exactly should the NAP workers be listening for? their quality had been rated by ford management as among the best. so tell us how they could have seen this coming?
  14. what vehicles were made at the LA plant? was before my time
  15. i beleive the term is "whipsawing" my friend. international needs to unite all the plants and quit letting management pit us against eachother. because what's the point of being the last plant standing and full of work, when everyone is making $9 buck an hour and no benefits. if we all keep racing to open our local contracts to appease detroit, we all lose in the end.
  16. RE: Walton Hills- as a major supplier to OHAP (Econoline) I'd say as long as OHAP keeps building vans, Walton Hills survives. April 2006 the E-series was the 3rd best selling FoMoCo vehicle in NA 16,xxx. it's a cash cow and will run as-is (after a 2007 front end update) untill 2012. imo
  17. can some one explain to me why this happened. does it have to do with our healthcare give back vote a few months back or is it dictated by the gov't (inflation, market, etc????)
