  1. I'm not on-board with the "unpretensious luxury" idealism that Lincoln is aiming for. Last time I spoke to some BMW, Audi, and MBenz buyers, they bought it because it is pretencious...in your face...it's about the emblem.
  2. How one word makes a difference... "Predicted reliability"... It's that ONE WORD that pretty much leaves CR off the hook if their information is inaccurate. That one word lets me know that Miss Cleo is probably just as dependable as their people. Case in point, it's not the gospel at all. And people need to actually pay closer attention to JDPower which actually has a larger sample data.
  3. "United States - Population Under 18 2000 72,293,812 2010 74,431,511 2030 85,707,297 " Damn...thats why I'm all for free condoms in schools and readily accessible abortion clinics, maybe with a drive-thru...
  4. Wow, a car that people and enthusiast might probably enjoy driving...Unfortunately the logistics don't allow it to be a feasable product for the U.S. Although GM seems to be turning that way...eventually Ford catches up...
  5. An area that can support a Walmart? How can that be...it's already targeted as being the bottom of the barrel of retail stores?!
  6. Personally... Just because they pointed this out which is favorable for our camp... doesn't mean I find them one bit credible....
  7. Just wanted to share some useless info... Ford's Oxford White, happens to be one of the most durable paint in the industry as well as having the longest run in history... That's Al'Folks...
  8. Speaking of, just recently a friend bought a new Lexus RX350 and I'm growing more and more convinced that this "quality" is much more perception than reality. The headliner used, is a step up from the "mouse-fur" they usually use, but very little padding, and a very thin fabric covering which a wrong flick of a females hand with a diamond ring will rip it... Even the Focus has a much better headliner last I felt. Also, some of the buttons aren't illuminated at night...yet, the door sill has the Lexus name illuminated...found that one interesting. I'm touching around and the softness of the dashboard isn't anything to rave around. Ironically, the Navigation system seems to be very similar to the one in my LS, I'm guessing same supplier Denso yet, mine has a few extra toys the Lexus doesn't support. The carpet has taken a cheaper less wooven direction than the previous generation which was tightly packed. But at least it has carpet, unlike Corollas mousefur/felt. Also, at higher revs the engine did sound a bit, hmmm course. Didn't exude a throaty exhaust. And at highway speeds...it's as quiet/loud, as my '05 Mustang...For a Mustang, thats fine...For a supposed luxury vehicle as a Lexus, found it dissapointing. And even lately I've been spending some times in a friends Pilot, and another friends HIghlander...and again, I don't quite possibly see how someone would consider those vehicles refined.quiet, by any means...
  9. Can someone tell me how come to it takes Toyota 2 vehicles...the Camry and Corolla (with Matrix added in there) to sell as much as the F-150's ?
  10. Now that 2 liter bottle carrying holder would definately keep up with my caffeine addiction But to be fair, Ford does add some good ideas on some of their vehicles like the "conversation mirror" which has been copied by a few other manufacturers as well. Unfortunately...one of those ideas comes only once in awhile....
  11. Have you seen the engine bay of a new Civic? It's about 13inches between the cowl-line and radiator line....
  12. I'm sorry, but if someone can't parallel park their vehicle, without drama, they shouldn't drive. The same with the "Quadra-Steer" B.S. that GM couldn't unload fast enough and bombed... Same senario...if you can't navigate your vessel, get OFF the ship!
  13. Let's take note, the AJ's 4.2L V8, will get a displacement bump soon. 300HP isn't really competitive anymore... And yes, On Jag's you get "R" which uses a Supercharger to makes around 400HP, but "R" is to Jag, what AMG is to MB, is to "M" for BMW, avilable in limited quantities...still doesn't address the need for a V8 producing 350+.
  14. I agree, even if it were an option. I'm sure the spin will be "Well these curve thru there turns, where HID's dont". And the point should be...BOTH
  15. We don't need another half assed launch with yesturyear engines... I thought the lesson was learned from the 500/Mtg/FS....guess not.
  16. Well I wouldn't think the CV would be an "F" since the "D" 500 has a larger interior and trunk. Although the Fusion is a "CD", maybe the Focus will evolve into a "BC"...
  17. If you also notice, these new B-segment offerings are approaching C-segment prices. Just looked at a "decently equipped" Nissan Versa online.. For what it is, I rather get a Focus, and at least it's larger and a much better car than that tin-can. But what it allows Nissan to do, is push their Sentra upmarket, and ask a higher price. Same with Yaris/Corolla, some Corollas can easily hit $20K. So one way of looking at it is, Ford can go ahead and introduce a newly redesigned Focus and ask more for it, provided they have a B-segment entry...at a decent price that is.
  18. I think some people are getting a bit bent out of shape. Just because a brand is geared towards a specific sect, it's not a good/bad thing is the opposite attracts it. Wasn't/Isn't the Mustang V6 known as the secretariets car? If anything, targeting something towards a consumer that you think is the least to be attracted to it, might be better in the long run...it allows the person to work much more in attaining their goal.
  19. Yeah they wanted to sell me on the color when I got my washer/dryer combo. I opted for White...White is classic. I told the salesguy that when either the washer or dryer dies, and I replace just one of them, white I can match...The Thousand Island Orange, I won't. The lady next to me overheard me and suddenly changed from blue to white Talking about depreciation, had a friend shopping for a full size SUV, and we were looking at a Seqouia, it's amazing how the sales person repeated the same things, more than twice "Oh we don't bargain on prices", "Oh the depreciation is very little compared to others", "OH it's a very reliable vehicle". Amazing I just stayed quite on that. After seeing the price and lack of "toys", he told the salesperson how dissapointed he was and that he wasn't interested. This coming from a Lexus/Toy lover...my friend just kept saying "$50K, and no puddle lamps?!!
  20. Did anyone notice on the first 2/8th of the videio, a clay model of the Fairlane, then on the left a opaque image of a vehicle they were concealing. Looks kinda small, B-class like.
  21. Years ago we heard of Ford's stradegy of 2 vehicles, replacing the venerable Taurus...with the 500 and Fusion. Ford stated that because of more fragmentation of the market, the days of 400+ a year units per model, where numbered. Now that we have seen steady numbers from the 500/Mtg/FS and Fusion/Milan/Zephyr, how would that compare with the Taurus/Sable clan? Lets take into consideration, that the Taurus/Sable tooling has been paid off way back when, but at the same time that allowed for a large number of fleet sales, that might have cut any bottom line left, although it did kill the model value beause of it's Fleet Queen status (as Chrysler is now enjoying). So what are your takes on it ? DO you think it was worth it ?
  22. I myself dislike leather, I don't mind dressing in it for sex, ya know, harnesses, chaps, whips, etc. But unfortunately the vehicles I keep buying, have it standard.... and because my LS has Cooled seats, I'm guessing it's easier to do the preforated leather to allow for that, rather than cloth. My 2 biggest beefs is the initial "Ouch" on a hot sunny day, and the creases it forms as the leather ages.
