  1. Just another article on the JD Power IQS that just came out... http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/22/autos-qua...os-quality.html
  2. Well the thing your forgetting is that once you put your child seats into the car, they should stay there. My sister has an Explorer and has a 3 year and a 18 month old and the seats stay in there. When my parents get my nephew or niece, they have a seat for the back of the sable.
  3. Or base their experiences on something that happened 10-15 years ago...even people working at dealerships (cough cough)
  4. I've driven plenty of Odyssey's and Sienna minivans for work and if you have more then 4 people them, they have the same exact amount of room in them as the Flex, if not less. The only thing the Flex gives up to them is that roof isn't as high as a minivan.
  5. Well I guess the Fiesta will be in production by the end of this year if they are planning on a Spring 2010 Launch! Another reason for why the Explorer hasn't been mentioned, the Unibody one will be out next Summer I'm willing to guess....and Ford wants to get away from its Gas Guzzling image of SUV's anyways.
  6. Thats the point I was trying to make...now back on topic Seems like Ford has sense that while everyone else is down they need to step it up with new products..they have a window now to improve their fortunes
  7. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/23/nyregion...ml?ref=nyregion I saw this reported on the news just before and was able to goggle this...on the news they said they could use any car as long as it got over 25 MPG city I'm assuming
  8. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/22/spy-sho...-cruze-variant/ Lets see: Buick getting compact car from Opel, pretty much the same thing as a Cruze....
  9. I think you got that backwards, it was the Media that created Obama in the past year or so.
  10. IIRC its ALWAYS at the bottom of the list....so I really wonder about rating and the electrons that where moved around to display it here
  11. Well its obvious there was some sort of manufacturing issue with the 02 Explorer's Transmission from that link I posted...I wonder why it was so jacked up...how can you from cutting your problems better then half from one year to another...
  12. 2006-current is the 4th Gen Model...even though they might look identical...they are different under the skin. The 03 V8 looks to have shared the same transmission as the Mustang did...though the V6 models have also and according to this website there looks to be some sort of manufacturing issue with the 2002 transmission vs 2003...it went from 686 complaints to 183 complaints in 2003! http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Explorer/2002/
  13. Another thing about the 2002-2005 Explorers is that they had a new transmission in them that didn't have a dipstick in them to check the oil in them! My Parents 02 EB Explorer ran great engine-wise, just the rest of the drive train was crap...they had the Rear Diff, Transmission and bellhousing replaced on it before getting rid of it for a 08 Sable. My sisters 06 Explorer Limited with a V8 runs good except the crappy MPG's she gets with it! Keep away from the 3 Gen Explorers!
  14. And as for being stupid....your just reinforcing your bias against Euro Fords...what bout the Focus? Yeah sure as hell had a rough start, but thats been sorted since then. Then again you have to throw in you've been working in the business for 28 years to show some how that make you superior to me or something... Anyways I'll leave you with this:
  15. Here's Jalopnik's review...seems to be slightly disappointed in it... http://jalopnik.com/5296925/2010-ford-taur...ne=true&s=x More of a luxury performance car then a performance luxury car in their option....that doesn't bug me...I'm tired of cars that beat me up
  16. I sure hope so, wasn't their a Press release that something like 90% of all Ford products would come with a 6 speed?
  17. Wow those wheels look like they would be a bitch to clean! LOL
  18. they've been saying that since the damn plant opened up! Just like the Ranger has been supposed to been getting an update since 2002
  19. Well Two things that Mercury can do better then Ford- First one is sell more upscale smaller cars then Ford can. Say Focus with a navigation system in it (which the current car doesnt have since it would be adding like a 10% price markup to the car!) and even offering a Convertible model that wouldn't pressure V6 Mustang Sales. Offer some unqie small cars like the C-max and what not that might not be able to be sold as fords I don't see Mercury as "In the middle brand" as much as I see it as a small upscale car brand that complements Lincoln and gives the Lincoln dealership experience. Overall there is a lot that can be done with Mercury with the rationalization of platforms around the world, as long as Ford plays their cards right...since it would be already selling volume cars under the Ford brand that would make the odd ball models that Mercury would get profitable. But the question of the Hour is, how far down does Lincoln go and how far up does Mercury go? The MKC concept is pretty neat, but its going to be competing with the meat of the Mercury cars its supposed to to sell, which are Focus sized cars. And what about the Milan vs the MKZ and even the Fusion?
  20. Hmm power train is all Focus based stuff...easy to get stuff in the States. Getting into an accident might cause issues, but how many people willing wreck their cars? Hell it took me nearly 30 days to get my Mustang back 2 years ago after an accident and that with a car that readily available with parts etc since it was made in the states.. Plus the next Gen Transit Connect will be built here. And how do you know they aren't Durable trucks? they've won rave reviews in Europe. Anyways, you might want to tone down your balaent ignorance and bias of the product and actually let it sell here first....Being Ignorant and Bias isn't a good thing, just makes you look like an idiot.
  21. That makes about much sense as Ford putting a Model T in their commercials...
  22. Isn't that the deal with most workers in any industry? If the company I work for can't provide for me (as long as I have the skill set that they need) why should I work there if I can get a better job some place else (which prob wouldn't apply to most autoworkers since the job skills aren't as specific as too need advanced education)
  23. In all seriousness, how much does Ford really make selling a 17-20K PI to a Police Dept? Esp if they have to totally redesign the car. Not saying it can't be done, but the Panther isn't the way forward to do that. I often wonder at times since PD have been pretty much offered nothing but RWD vehicles for the past 30+ years, that they can't see that a FWD car can't do the same thing as long as you don't drive it like a moron (ie over curbs etc)?
