  1. UPDATE!!!! UPDATE!!!! Toyota sends new gas pedals to plants, not dealers!!! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100129/ap_on_bi_ge/toyota_recall This just keeps getting better and better! Screw the current customer we want to start building new ones first! This so SCREAMS profits, profits, profits! Toyota! Oh What a feeling!
  2. They used to have them, but I think it was seen as a way to save a fewbucks per vehicle x millions of vehicles produced = $$$ profits. Kinda like the lock that used to be on glove box's
  3. The dealer. Sure its $$$, but its guaranteed and if you want to own a luxury car be prepared for luxury prices to fix it.
  4. In all seriousness, Fiat should save there money. Close all the U.S. operations, install Fiat signs and see if there crap will sell over here. If not just go back across the pond in shame. I think Chrysler is to broken to fix.
  5. Only after the sliding door falls of at 70mph.
  6. apparently this and the titan on a 10-yr refresh cycle will make them pay back all there debt? Save all the "I'm a bimmer too" cars.
  7. I like the baiting of Ford owners "If I was a Ford owner I would be pissed" cause the dodge went up the hill 1min and 30sec faster. To bad the dodge will have to pull over at the gas station to refill as the Ford drives by. Again dodge congrats on beating a 10yo engine in its last year of production.
  8. http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/...er=yahoofinance "A group led by former Ford Motor executives has submitted a revised bid this week for Ford’s Volvo unit and hopes to beat the offer by the Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation." Interesting!
  9. Being a bit of a nostalgia whore with my to come comment but.... putting the Continental name on what is basically dead end, walking (rolling) dead meat product is disgraceful to the past prestige and glamor of the 60's Continentals. Not that its at all financially feasible but they should have thrown in the 5.4 with a 6 speed trany and buckets with a center console, or any left over 32v DOHC Aviator 4.6's. Sure they will sell a few to a number of 80+ yo gramps down in Florida to run over alligators and small children on the Blvd. reliving the "glory days"
  10. As with some of the other Lincoln ads the latest music played with the new MKT commercial is available from the lincoln site for free! http://www.lincoln.com/extras/tvads.asp Oh and its Under "The Milky Way" Performed by Sia.
  11. I did not mean to imply Packard was mediocre in my last sentence, just merely another dead car company. "my ex sister in law bought one back when they first came out- shes still got it, and aside from some wear on the seats, it still looks/runs great, only thing she ever did was brakes/struts IIRC...think its got over 300k now- mostlly highway...plastic body or not, the paint on hers still looks excellent (and they dont get door dings, just little scuff marks)" I could probably find a AMC Gremlin that real nice too, there are always exceptions to the rule.
  12. GM only delayed what was supposed to happen to Saturn decades ago. I won't miss any of your plastic bodies cars or your indescribably bad sounding "Twin Cam" 4 (it really does bang) banger. My buddy for god only know why bought a used one (a lease return I think) back in the mid 90's and also purchased the extended warranty (for extra peace of mind) which surprisingly paid for itself when the dealer told him he needed a whole new wiring harness. LOL months later he tried to sell it to me cause it was such a "good car" ANYWAY GOODBYE TO ANOTHER MEDIOCRE CAR COMPANY!!! Say HI to Packard, Oldsmobile, Nash, Plymouth, Edsel, International and all the other brands in the junkyard in the sky.
  13. http://www.kptv.com/slideshow/entertainmen...130/detail.html Ford must be making the Vic's with thinner metal in the frames as of late.
  14. "I actually liked the body design and thought it looked pretty good with a camper shell over the bed. " Umm but would'nt that just be an outback wagon then? Kinda like buying a f-350 or 250 a few years back and putting a shell and carpet kit in the bed migth as well of bought an excursion.
  15. I can't name any late-model truck that could brush a tree off and I stated that so don't be an ass... I may have had better vision to the rear of the vehicle had the company not had an old style tool box further hampering rear vision out of the f-150's already high bed height. oh crap I just realized I typed a response to a post from "Deanh" no further correspondence shall occur. I have to go take a shower I feel dirty.
  16. I've got a friend in the business with a copart account. See if I can find it or have him give it to me again.
  17. In regards to the F-150, they really should but some bumpers with thicker metal on those things. I recently tagged a pine tree in reverse in the woods and did 3k worth of damage on my XL work truck(~3-4mph). But all trucks these days have flimsy bumpers so its not a Ford only issue. As much plastic that is on the front of the modern day "work" truck its a wonder they are metal anymore.
  18. Not sure where they got that a Mercedes SL roadster costs 190,700. The two AMG variants cost 135,00 or 194,700 and the "bottom of the line" SL550 cost a mere 98,500 per MB's website. So I wonder if they made up the maintenance costs too?
  19. I like how CNN shows only fords and chevys getting the ax, but when you look on utube there are toyos and the like getting it too.
  20. Anyone know what the "elixir" is composed of?
  21. Opposing piston is nothing new in general but would be new in an automotive application. See Fairbanks-Morse. The submarine I was on had a F-B 10 cyl 20 piston emergency diesel generator set.
