  1. Lutz' Tony car? You talking about the Scorpio? (Just was reading about it yesterday on Wikipedia).
  2. I liked it, but in the grand scheme of things it was forgettable as an advertisement.
  3. I see more Grand Cherokees than Explorers in my neck of the woods, and I now live in Ford country. Whatever happened to the late '90s Explorer that was so ubiquitious among the middle class pencil pusher? On the other hand, lots and lots and lots of '90s T-Birds and Fusions. (Not many '80s T-Birds, which makes me wonder if they rust out or simply didn't sell in the Pacific Northwest).
  4. Link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/04/15/ford_scareware_scam/ The Register - biting the hand that feeds I.T. Scareware = false virus protection programs that say you need to buy their product to get rid of viruses that don't actually exist "Scareware scammers are trying to game search engines into promoting crudware sites when a surfer searches for information on Ford cars." (...) "The Ford scareware campaign features around one million links, all targeting the Ford Motor Company, designed to trick search engines into promoting malicious pages towards the top of search results. Malvertised pages are punting a rogue anti-virus product, called MS AntiSpyware 2009. The malicious application attempts the scare users into buying software of little of no utility on the basis of fraudulent scan results that report systems are infected, whether they are or not."
  5. Pioneer's birthday has inspired me to buy tacos and burritos. Better take a trip in my Fusion... Kidding dude. Happy b-day. (Although I am hungry...)
  6. I want to massively compliment the new interior --- so amazing Compare '05: http://www.seriouswheels.com/2005/2005-For...sh-1280x960.htm '10: http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/LA08MustangGTInt/1004669651
  7. Kill it, kill it now. The fish face grill reminds me of the '96 Taurus (gasp, shudder). 1991-1994 were a bad weening time for automotive design in many respects: new Camry (puke), new bubble cars, the Dodge Neon... Only great ones was the beautiful Gen II Taurus and the Chrysler/Dodge Intrepid. Cars with designs carried over from the late 80s were great (think MN12) but many of the new bubble designs from that era just... look bad, I'm sorry but they do. The mid to late 90s seemed to clear up that acne.
  8. It was an amazing race and I was filled with emotion on the Kubica/Vettel crash... those are two of my three favorites (Kimi didn't have a hot race this time) I much much would rather see them finish high than Hamilton. I still say Vettel got too close to Kubica, but MAN did you see him driving around with three wheels after trying to keep going? Vettel = the new Schumacher in terms of temerity and determination Everyone at the bar was cheering him on. I fear Kubica is the next David Coulthard -- strong top-5 finisher, but never the champion. He isn't what he was just a couple years ago out of the box. Surprising action from Force India too -- Fisi could keep it ahead of the competitors for quite a while. Fisi only lost positions after his pit road incident. Damn good race! Piquet Jr. proves once again he's unfit for F1 too...
  9. Here: http://10questions.time.com/2009/03/12/ask-alan-mulally/ Ten best questions get through to the CEO of Ford.
  10. This will be harmful to Cadillac as it is not meant as a 'world' brand -- the styling is off-kilter from Cadillac's current push for angular muscle as well. I just see Catera II coming down the works here... Now, having this as a Buick, that I might see more effective, but I'm almost thinking GM should bring the Chinese Buicks over HERE (of course, tooled and built in America, to appease everyone).
  11. You couldn't put the rear window down on the A-Bodies ? I'll have to keep watch of this because you are right that I've never seen an A-Body with the rear windows down.
  12. With the UK Pound so strong, what would it take to import a Crown Victoria from Canada?
  13. Oldsmobile was a stronger import fighter than Buick, and that's not saying much. Buick just five years ago boasted that they are "American tradition" -- wallowing steering, plush interiors, old school, etc. Turning Buick into an import fighter is a terrible idea. However, introducing Buick to Europe with its own China-market product may not be a bad idea.
  14. Says to me that the average Jaguar buyer is your average upper class conservative who preserves his car. That's kind of what I think of when I think of a male Jaguar driver. Haven't figured out the female Jaguar driver as I've been cut off by them many times.
  15. I see this as great news.
  16. See, that I could support. I would especially support having the cars be mothballed by the government -- <b>not crushed</b>.
  17. I think it's partially because I don't get excited by Explorers and Grand Cherokees like I do Crown Vics. I see an SUV as a utility vehicle, and a sedan as aesthetically pleasing. Of course, this is off on my own biases. I can see plenty of people who loved their SUVs too.
  18. I oppose it on the basis we're going to lose a lot of classics, The idea is noble, but the consequence is clear that people will readily toss their LTDs and Caprices. SUVs can get smashed as nobody has massive reminisce about their Explorers (maybe so, but I can't see it) -- although I'd hate to see a Grand Wagoneer get junked. I'm hoping the general public doesn't run to this as I'm a fan of average sedans that are square in the target sights.
  19. I agree with RMC -- why are you guys using the parking brake at the drive-through? Seems like it would add wear and tear to the car as it's trying to idle forward.
  20. I liked the 200C then and I like the 200C now. I even liked the interior (although that steering wheel won't make it to production.) Perfect Sebring replacement. True story: I was passed by a Sebring yesterday and I swore it was a latest-gen Camry and/or a latest-gen Lexus until looking at the Chrysler badge. In other words, I thought it looked like a non-descript Asian model.
  21. Read: http://www.hotrod.com/whereitbegan/hrdp_08...gram/index.html The House and Senate started discussions on a "cash for clunkers" program where you trade your 13 year old+ car for up to $4,500 in cash --- and they crush the car. I can see a purpose for destroying old SUVs, but can't you see how many classics will get caught in the loop by the hayseeds who need the money? How about all of those original Tauruses, older Crown Vics and other metal? And remember -- older cars are a walking advertisement for a brand. We don't need the American highway landscape to have even more foreign cars on it --- "Oh, all you see on the roads are Toyotas and Hondas so I will drive one too" some people might think. Believe me, people are dumber than you think. The idea is to stimulate the economy and get people to buy new cars, but the people trading in for $4,500 won't have nearly enough to buy a new one anyway. They will likely buy used. Also, it is estimated this four-year plan will cost the government $10 million. Your thoughts?
