  1. I don’t see how Honda would benefit from either Nissan or Mitsubishi. Would seem like a better target for BYD or another Chinese brand.
  2. It’s such an odd thing to have as dealer installed. I don’t know I’d trust my dealer to do it. All of my cars have it, and I use it frequently.
  3. I thought it was the KIA Minivan.
  4. Reminds me of the Toyota Elonmuskskidsname thing (XyZ?)
  5. I’m still not sure T3 replaces Lightning (rather is in addition to it). I’m hoping Lightning gets some more improvements over time as well.
  6. I remember seeing the convertible marauder in Chicago. https://blog.consumerguide.com/forgotten-concept-mercury-marauder-concept/?amp=1
  7. https://www.yahoo.com/news/ceo-ford-says-hes-driving-115916540.html Ford CEO Jim Farley says he's been driving the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi's EV for the past six months. Farley described Xiaomi as an "industry juggernaut." Farley previously told a board member that China's auto industry was an "existential threat." Ford CEO Jim Farley says he doesn't want to give up the Xiaomi Speed Ultra 7 he's been driving for the past half year. "I don't like talking about the competition so much, but I drive the Xiaomi," Farley said while speaking to the British presenter Robert Llewellyn on "The Fully Charged Podcast." The podcast, which Llewellyn hosts, aired on Monday. "We flew one from Shanghai to Chicago, and I've been driving it for six months now, and I don't want to give it up," Farley continued
  8. Replacing the Fusion, which didn’t sell in enough volume and/or profit to justify its continued existence with a niche model that would sell much worse is not a winning strategy.
  9. Yeah, just think of the tens of units they left on the table! They could have even sold a hundred or two!
  10. It does not impact vehicles already on the road. I wonder if Ford could do a transit connect style thing. For example, maybe leave out impacted components and install them stateside?
  11. They’re not leaving RAM for RAM, they’re leaving RAM for Toyota, which only offers a V6, not a straight six. Perhaps Stellantis should have used a hemispherical combustion chamber in the Hurricane engine. (Isn’t the Ford’s 6.2 a “Hurricane”?).
  12. I’m sure it did (they tied their brand to it - “that think got a HEMI”?), but then they’re moving to a V6 only truck instead?
  13. 4.6, 5.0, and 5.2 are all part of the same “modular” family. The 5.2 is further development of the 5.0 “Coyote”.
  14. The race to the middle is a challenge for the multi-line manufacturer. Main line manufacturers have gone up market. Luxury makers have gone down market. Features that in the 80s would be exclusive to a Cadillac are now available in the most basic Chevy. There are no cars with crank windows, manual transmission, no radio, and no AC. A decade or so ago who would expect someone might cross shop a BMW and a Ford, but now that’s a real possibility.
  15. Fortunately the valves in my Lightning are fine. (Good going, Reuters) https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ford-recall-90736-vehicles-over-engine-valve-issue-us-regulators-say-2024-08-31/
  16. Depends on the model, but yes. It’s essentially Mercury.
  17. GMC has been premium to Chevy for some time. Its Cadillac with less bling. I’ve been wondering if an RV company would use the Brightdrop platform. Seems like it could make a good RV chassis.
  18. It’s too bad they didn’t look at doing to T6 what they did for the Lightning. A BEV Everest, with a Lincoln version, could have been a good competitor to the R1S.
  19. I’d rather see a fixed top Bronco. Everest is too much overlap with existing vehicles, and looks like it’s a decade old with a modern front clip.
