  1. They need to come up with a way to negotiate the price online. The Mach-E reservation process was a challenge in that you were reserving something you wouldn’t be buying for a year or more with an unknown price and no ability to change dealers. I’ve bought my last three Ford’s from the same dealer (last two from same sales person) knew they’ve always treated me right, and went with them on blind faith. I’ve bought my cars from them specifically to avoid the awful big Ford store in town. How many went with them because they were “local” with no existing relationship. I don’t know if they did ADMs or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Imagine waiting a year and then finding they’re going to hit you with a 5 or 10k markup.
  2. The Walmart In Cordele has four high speed (150kw) CCS stations - it’s Electrify America. In addition there are chargers at the Fairfield Inn and Suites and the Holiday Inn Express in Cordele. There are a lot more options in Tifton, including Tesla Superchargers, which will be available to non Tesla vehicles this year. Tifton is 40 miles from Cordele and Warner Robbins (50 miles) has a lot more options too. How often are you making this trip? A couple times a month? As noted, for the one off trips that electric doesn’t work (seems it could work for Cordele) rent a car.
  3. I think it’s sharp, and a smart brand to associate Lincoln with. Hope it becomes something real.
  4. Ever been to an Electrify America station? There are 8-12 stalls typically (though currently one is CHAdeMO they’ve said they’re discontinuing that) The most I’ve seen at one were three cars (two ID.4 and my Mach-E). Here’s the hotel I’m at today. There are five EV chargers (1 HC). My car (If I had it - I’m in a rental [Work trip]) would be fully charged overnight even if fully depleted, and these chargers are free. The other two hotels in the area have chargers too.
  5. And for a long trip there is no reason to not start at 100%. Highest I’ve gotten on my Mach-E (Premium AWD ER battery) is 310 miles on a full charge, but that’s when commuting into the city. It’s rated at 270 and that’s pretty typical of what I see on longer drives. That’s almost three and a half hours. During that period I’ll stop for fifteen minutes once or twice, each time getting around 20% which is another 60ish miles per charge. That’s almost 400 miles in one day. Charge up overnight at your destination and you’re back at 100%, rinse, repeat. I find it hard to believe on a 400 mile trip you’re not stopping somewhere to eat. Charging once for 30+ minutes gets you even further. Im a big fan of road trips. My wife and I drove out to Mount Rushmore, in November, for a weekend, when we were first dating (950 miles each way) - I rented a car for that trip, it was cheap, and putting nearly 2000 miles on my car wasn’t worth it. How many 500+ mile trips do you do in a year? I’ve spent less than $50 on electricity total in the 2,300 miles I’ve driven my Mach-E. The regular savings would easily cover the rental for the one off longer trips, or trips where chargers are not convenient.
  6. Why? I’ve never worried about fully charging my Mach-E while traveling - at least not while on the road - getting to “full” is just what we’re used to with ICE. I can go from 40-80% range in about 20-25 minutes. I’d rather stop for 10-15 minutes and get what that gives me, maybe twice, and then charge fully at my destination.
  7. My Mach-E is a AWD ER. The longest I’ve sat at an EA charger is 30 minutes. That was going from like 45%.
  8. The Mach-E has a large battery. People get obsessed with the idea of always being “full”. I only charge when needed, usually twice a week. There’s an Electrify America 5 minutes from my house. I’ve used it about six times, usually before going on a trip. I’ll only go to 80% there, because it slows down significantly at 80% to preserve the battery. I’ll charge overnight to go from 80-90 or 100 for a bigger trip. Most of my charging is at my garage at work, which has a ton of L2 chargers that are free. The car is usually fully charged (90%) by 1-2 PM. I’ve probably paid less than $20 for charging my Mach-E.
  9. I almost never charge my Mach-E at home, and when I do it’s only to go from 80-90%.
  10. Stupid lawsuit, but I don’t like the bluecruise name anyway. Pepboys did Ford a favor with the Futura name.
  11. I think Cybertruck will sell to people who would otherwise have bought a full size SUV rather than a truck.
  12. The Mach-E only gets one fob. You can setup MyKey, but it only sets max speed, does not affect performance. Ford had a version of MyKey that did on the GT? I think. Maybe it was GT350/500. Stellantis does for Hellcats. (Imagine handing a plaid over to a valet). There are three different modes, unbridled, whisper, and engage, and while it does adjust performance the impact is marginal. It’s noticeable to me - unbridled is fun, but more work on a long trip - but none of the modes appease my wife.
  13. The push button is awesome by the way. I wasn’t sure I’d like it. Will be interesting to see how it does in the winter. The thing I’m curious about with Tesla is the push for extreme performance. My Mach-E is fast enough for me. It’s too fast for my wife. She’s not comfortable driving it. I wouldn’t want a truck that is faster than it. I certainly wouldn’t want a sedan that goes 0-60 in under two seconds. People knock the ID4 because it doesn’t have the usual “punch” that a BEV gets you, but it’s still faster than a similar VW ICE. I wonder if they don’t know the market better.
  14. How cool! A car with no door handles! Revolutionary. Goes out to his Mach-E… Huh, no handles.
  15. Princeton is getting a bigger vehicle too, right? There was speculation they’d build a Lexus GX replacement.
  16. Finance guy really pushed hard on extended warranty for the Mach-E. I did a three year Ford Options plan. I was like “Hey, I’m turning it in in three years. If I get to 30 months and I’m thinking of keeping it I’ll buy the extended warranty (online) then.” He still kept pushing. (He didn’t try to push service plan or paint protection though).
  17. That’s awesome! (Our Flex only has 138k miles so she became the third car when we bought the Mach-E).
  18. I’ve got like 30 Ford stores with twenty miles of me. The closest store has all the service of a Walmart. (I call it megalomart Ford) I lucked into a dealer twenty minutes away when we bought our Flex - they had the one we wanted in stock, and needed one THEN. It’s a smaller family owned store. I’ve bought three Ford’s from them now, and serviced four. The service manager is awesome, and knows me by name. My salesman, who sold me both the Edge and Mach-E was nearly as excited about me getting the Mach-E as I was. The finance guys are the ones I usually have issues with. On the Mach-E I did “Ford Options” (Fords pseudo-lease) and he came back at 8% (and I have good credit). On forums people were getting 2.25%. After showing him multiple posts, including one that had a Ford program number, he came back at 2.25%. He actually seemed like a decent guy, and I was the first Ford Options in the region, so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
