  1. Trust me, that happens often enough driving to and from work on the freeway. ? I may try doing it somewhere if I can get an empty stretch of road. It does seem to be getting to be less of an issue now that it is warming up, though.
  2. My daughter and I both have 2017 Ecosports and both have an annoying brake squeal when in reverse but never while going forward. It comes from the front and seems worse when cold or damp. I had mine into the dealer and they removed some glaze from the pads. That fixed it temporarily but it was soon back. Anyone else have this issue and find a solution? I’ve searched for TSBs but didn’t see anything. Maybe my daughter and I have the only ones that do it but I doubt it. Thanks, John
  3. Amen, brother! Living here in TX, I don't care too much about heated seats but I love the cooled seats in my wife's Fusion and would gladly pay for that option on any vehicle if it were available.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I just took delivery yesterday and I know the dealer filled it with 87 but I may try some experimenting later on to see if I can see any difference..
  5. The Ecosport owner's manual states that the vehicle is designed to run on 87 octane fuel but that "For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended." I can see that with the 1.0 turbo but is Ford now recommending higher octane for the normally aspirated 2.0? The Focus manual just recommends 87 Octane and I assumed the engines were the same.

    Sync 3?

There were certainly no real changes to the Escape or Fiesta for 2016.

    Sync 3?

Does anyone have any clue why there is no Sync 3 system in the 2016 Fusion? Consumer Reports (and others) continually rip Ford over the old system and they put the new system in the Fiesta but not the Fusion. Makes no sense to me.
  8. We've owned a 2012 Focus since February and have never once thought "Gee, I wish these mirrors folded in because this car is just too big".
  9. My dealer required $100 down the first time I ordered a car but doesn't anymore. I guess it pays to be a long time repeat customer.
  10. Thank you. I just kept reading (not well, obviously) that the Titanium had the SE content plus... Kept glossing over that SE Appearance package part of it.
  11. I read through the order guide several times and I hope it's an oversight and not that they are already decontenting but I didn't see anything in there where rear disc brakes are standard on the Titanium.
  12. My brother is thinking about getting a Fiesta SES but finding one equipped like he would want is next to impossible so he was planning on ordering. He was told that the 2012 order bank is closed but is getting conflicting information on when the 2013 will be out. One dealer told him this fall and another told him that he should be able to order in another month or so with production starting early. That makes more sense with the order bank being closed already but not everything in this world makes sense so thought I would see if anyone out there knew anything. Thanks.
  13. That's what I am kind of afraid of. Since it is so new, I kind of wish they had totalled it so I could just get another one. My dad has an MKS that was hit in a front corner last year by a driver that blew a stop sign and it was over $11,000 to put back together. A lot of that was front end work.
  14. I bought a 2012 Escape this past Monday. On Thursday, it was struck in a parking lot (along with 4 other cars) by a police car that lost control while in a high speed pursuit. (What the heck -- it had 126 miles on it and I didn't like that fender anyway.) The damage is mostly confined to the front left fender and driver's door although the wheel has a small scrape on it and the tire has damage to the sidewall. The collision also knocked the vehicle to the right and turned the wheels and steering wheel. The damage was bad but we all assumed it was drivable until I tried backing it up and discovered that the steering wheel didn't want to turn. I was finally able to budge it but it is very hard to turn and feels like it was ratcheting as it went. Everyone from the tow truck driver to the guy at the body shop agrees that it is more than just the power steering being knocked out. Naturally insurance is paying to fix it and the township is paying for a rental (got a 2012 Focus so it's not too bad) but I am just curious if anyone has any idea what could have happened to make it do that. I am sure I will have an answer in a couple of weeks but don't know that much about the electric power steering. Also, we doubt very much if the unibody is bent at all as the vehicle next to me took the brunt of the collision and it was actually that one being knocked into mine that caused my damage.

    Sync

I realize this post is over two months old but, for those like me who may have just found it, the car does not have to be idling for the update to work. Never tried it while driving but have done a few, on 3 different cars, with the engine not running but the key in the RUN position. Just don't leave the key in the ACC(essories) position. I have never had an update take over 15 minutes, which can seem like an eternity when you are sitting there waiting for it to finish. Any decent battery should be able to handle the 50 minutes someone mentioned, especially if you don't leave the headlights and blower motor on.
  16. I currently have a Fusion Sport and am thinking about a Focus Titanium for my next car. However, feel the opposite of you when it comes to the transmission. As a long time stick-shift driver, I like the Fusion's gate shift as it's the closest I can get to what I would prefer to have. I had a 2008 Fusion SEL with a manual transmission before my 2010 and loved driving that car.
  17. I'll take my TomTom any day. Cost a whole lot less and I can upgrade it daily to get the latest fixes and I also get fuel prices. I get weather, news and traffic through Sync and my backup camera display is in the rearview mirror, which is where I prefer it as I am already looking there. I agree with the other poster that the built in Nav systems are way overpriced. It would be like the manufacturers offering a car phone for $1200. For what you get, I would consider paying $500 but not the ridiculous amount they want.
  18. If you can't see my car in broad daylight without my lights on, please don't drive. Besides, it's all perception. Sure, if you are the only car on the road with lights on, you will stand out. Go over to Canada and drive. The cars you notice are the ones without lights. I guess they need to pass a law to outlaw DRL's since it's easier to notice the cars without them.
  19. We've had 2 Edge AWD's (an 07 and an 09) and I would call neither one a slug. As far as the rear pillars, this is a relatively minor refreshening, not an all-new sheet metal job. As far as the Ranger, it is a lack of handling that has killed it. Any handling would have been an improvement. I happen to like the Escape, btw. Seriously considered one before deciding on a Fusion Sport. Supposed to get it tomorrow but we are supposed to be getting several inches of snow starting sometime tonight into Friday morning and don't know if I will get to the dealer or not.
  20. I was in the IT industry in 99 (am still am today) and didn't spend one penny for Y2K but I agree with the other poster that I would gladly take the fools' money to help them prepare for the next imaginary disaster coming.
  21. Definitely sounds like someone that doesn't have a clue how PC's work. Probably panicked over Y2K, too.
  22. I have seen job 3 Fusions on a dealer lot. (At least they had the Sync microphone on the headliner and not the rear view mirror.) They were sitting in the area on the lot where newly delivered vehicles sit until they get moved.
  23. I am unaware of any method you can use to track it yourself. I know that kind of information is available to Ford (and your dealer) but there isn't a website or anyplace you can access it. When I ordered my 08, it was shipped via rail to Virginia and then transferred to a truck and brought up to PA (that info was obtained from my dealer).
  24. From looking at the invoice for my 09, I would say their quote of $33,950 for invoice is pretty close. Minus the grand or so Ford is paying them in holdback, that is about as low as they are going to want to go -- the dealer would be taking a huge loss to sell you that vehicle for $29,000. You really can't compare the prices for used vehicles with a new one, even if it is 2 years old. (Also, remember that the dealer is not obligated to show you the invoice unless you are A/Z or X plan and, if you are, we probably aren't having this conversation about negotiating price.) What you do may depend on how long you plan on keeping it. If you plan on keeping it for several years, and you like the way it is equipped, I would see what you can negotiate out of them. I would imagine they are paying financing every month it sits there but they still aren't going to give it away. I believe the Edge is due for a freshening in 2011 or so. Since there are virtually no changes from 2008 to 09, the difference in value between the two models will not be that great in 5 or 6 years. On the other hand, if you plan on keeping it for just a few years, the 2008 may not be such a good idea. As you said, you are going to take a huge hit in depreciation the second you drive off the lot. Regardless, as I am sure you know, the full warranty takes effect the day you take delivery so you will still be covered and there are no changes to warranty coverage (that I know of) for 2009 models. Good luck.
  25. Ummm, there is no truth to that. It's called Socialism. You have no right to anything that I have earned and worked for and I have no right to what you have earned and worked for. Just because someone is rich does not mean they do not have a right to keep what they have. Taxation should NEVER be used to "equalize things". Besides, show me exactly what part of the Constitution allows for the government to do that. Not to beat the proverbail dead horse, but the people that started this county would spin in their graves at such a thought as yours.
