My Fusion had the same problem. Only way to fix it is to have the head unit replaced. Mine actually did it twice and had to be replaced twice.

I spoke with my mom about this over the weekend. She said the problem was originally reported at the 5,000 mile service and all they did was SELL her the mud flaps for it. They did not help. She has only a few months left on the factory warranty and wants it taken care of. This is not a normal wear and tear item, it is clearly a defect if it happened after 5,000 miles. She has been in touch with the owner of the dealership (who is a family friend). He told her they will pay for 1/3, ford will pay for 1/3 but my mom would have to pay 1/3 the cost to repaint the rockers. She refused the deal and told him it is not satisfactory.

My mom owns a 2006 Escape Hybrind Limted 4x4 in red. It is the one with the body colored bumpers and rockers, not the flat black plastic. Over the last year, the rockers under the rear doors have been turning white. No washing will fix it and we have determined that the white is the primer on the plastic showing though the paint. This blasing is from sand and salt getting kicked up by the front tires and even with the mud flaps that were installed (for $200) its happening more and more. This is due to the shape of the rocker where it bows out in front of the rear wheel and the location of the front wheel on the short wheelbase. My mom orginally took it to the dealer where she bought the car. My family has purchased almost a dozen cars fron the same location over the last 20 years. They told her they cant cover it becaue is it not a factory defect and infact accident damage. The car has never been in an accident and has barely any scratches on it. She then called the 1-800 number for Ford and spoke with a rep. The rep told her that they will send an email to the dealership and she has to bring it back it where the service manager will make a determination. The service manager is the same person she was told no by the first time. Today she got a call from the service manager who said they will not cover it. We feel this is a serious factory defect and should be covered under the waranty. The sand pitting now is to the point where the area under the door is almost completely white on a red car. The sand pitting is due solely to the design of the car and not any fault of the driver (other than driving a 4x4 SUV in winter weather in CT). Who do we have to escalate this to get it fixed?

My girlfriend and I went to the Ford dealer near me on Sunday because she is looking for a new car. We went to test drive the Focus (too small for her, she is getting a used Santa Fe instead). I asked the salesman if he had any 2010 Fusions. I didn't see any on the lot or in the showroom. The only 2010 vehicles I saw at all were F-150s. He said they are keeping the 2010s in the back until they are out of 2009s. He said this is forcing people into the 09s unless they specifically ask for the 2010. Personally I think they have it wrong. They should have them out front to draw traffic in (though it was pretty busy for a Sunday. The VW dealership across the street had ZERO customers the entire time we were at the Ford dealerhip). This is the only Ford dealership that I know of that isnt publicly displaying the 2010s.

No, but i watched a Tundra get on the highway near my house one day and almost pissed myself when it hit the frost heaves on the entrance ramp. No only did the bed look like it was a trailer on the cab, but it swong it wildly to the right and i had to slam on my brakes to avoid the guy.

The green was the hybrid and was only used to start the race. The orange was the sport used the rest of the race.

Okay, does ANOYNE have any good pictures of the Hybrid and the Sport from yesterday? I tired watching on TV but missed the start of the race and they never showed a good shot of the pace car after that.

One makes a regular appearance on Life on NBC also. And Fringe is a really good show... except they show locations al label them as other places. Last week the showed a JFK terminal and called it Germany's intertational airport. A few weeks ago they showed flyover shots of Hartford, CT and called is Worcester, MA.

Hmmm... not worth it in MHO. I'm too cheap to leave a 24 watt CFL on for more than the absolutely necessary... no way would I leave 600 watts going all night. I guess I'll just suffer with a cold car... or finally clean my garage.

you still cant build an 09 either. When you go to the build it takes to you build an 08. Last week it just took you to a form to email a dealer... I guess this is progress. Maybe they laid off all the web developers.

Holy crap that's a nice interior!!! 2 problems... 1) Why do MFGs need to use such tall shifters on automatics? There is no reason for it, everything is electronic now. 2) The NA interior will most likely be different at least by a little... I see no cupholders in there and there is no way a car would be released in NA without cupholders for our fat assess to carry around a 1000 calorie Starbucks Late.
