It would have to shield the customer from a lot of the internal stuff (shipped and returned offsite e.g.) and just present basic order status to let the customer know when it's scheduled, the vin number, estimated build date, shipping date and eta. That could be done very simply just by adding a web front end to the current system. The user would just enter the Vin or the dealer #/order #.
Fielding the questions would be another matter, especially if an order is delayed because of dealer allocation shortages.
