  1. That's the way Ford's system has worked for years now. They don't turn on immediately - there is a few second delay on both turning on and turning off to avoid that problem. Essentially they just need to use the Ford design everywhere and make the auto headlamps default to ON every time the vehicle is started.
  2. Not only that, but every car should have auto-headlamps standard and tied into the wipers so they come on automatically. That is a bigger safety improvement than CHMSLs or bumper heights.
  3. And it has nothing to do with gender, just for the record.
  4. Not knowing who has the right of way when turning left at a traffic light. I actually looked this up and at least in GA it works this way: If there is no separator (concrete triangle) for the right turn lane then the right turn is controlled by the traffic light. If green then you have the right of way to turn right and the cars turning left have to yield to you. If red then you have to yield. If there is a separator then the right turn lane is not part of the intersection and not controlled by the traffic light. That's why there is almost always a yield sign and you therefore have to yield to the other direction cars turning left. Some people don't know the rules so they don't turn left when they have the right of way or they do turn left when they don't have the right of way. So frustrating.
  5. Here is an example. If I'm going 70 in a 55 and run off the road while texting and hit a tree - is speed a contributing factor to that accident? I say absolutely not. Yet most reports would probably include it.
  6. That's my #2. And it's the law here in GA when raining. My #1 is when people stop when there is a sign that clearly says "Keep Moving". There are 2 of those near my house and that happens at least once a week.
  7. BTW - estimates are that the Carerra GT that killed Walker was going 45 mph.
  8. Agreed. But that's not what they mean when they say "speed was a contributing factor" to an accident. They're implying that speed was a cause of the accident and not just that it made the results worse. That's what we're disagreeing with - arbitrarily saying that speed was a factor when it's not at all applicable.
  9. My wife's birthday is 12/18. From the moment we started dating it was made clear to me that there would be NO one-gift-for-both and NO wrapping birthday presents in christmas paper. Period. The tough part is coming up with enough gifts for both at the same time of the year (and keeping them straight when wrapping them). Can't blame them though.
  10. So obviously we all need to drive 10 mph. Problem solved.
  11. And somehow you managed not to lose control and cause a horrific fatal crash where speed was a factor? How is that possible?
  12. When the 20" Pirellis came out on the F150 and a few other vehicles, the tires were actually cheaper than most of the 18" or 19" tires. 20" is the new 17".
  13. :banghead: It sure as hell wasn't because he was driving 75 instead of 60. I don't know why this is so difficult to grasp.
  14. Sorry, not buying it. Every vehicle is capable of exceeding a safe speed. If the driver loses control then that's driver error. Unless you take a turn faster then the vehicle is capable of handling then that would be caused by excessive speed.
  15. Because doing a line lock on the front brakes makes it easier to do the burnout. I can't think of anything you could do to make it easier to drift.
  16. Going 70 in a 70 on the freeway and crashing will always result in far more damage and injuries than a 35 mph crash in a 35 mph zone. That doesn't mean speed should be a contributing factor in either accident assuming normal conditions. Saying that speed was a factor because it caused more damage is meaningless.
  17. Luckily Lincoln has an entirely new group of designers than the ones that did the MKT.
  18. All you need for drifting is RWD and enough power to break the rear loose. The rest is driver skill.
  19. No, there was no mention of RWD. Just that Ford couldn't justify building any vehicles there.
  20. Same here but I waited 3 months to help out the dealer. But it's not required to get the rebate.
  21. Diesel would be required for mainstream vehicles in Europe but not for Mustang. It's being marketed as a low volume unique vehicle (I'm assuming).
  22. If you think about it, this is really easy to do now that you have 4 channel ABS that would allow the front wheels to be electronically braked by the PCM. Sort of an electronic line locker. And it's a feature that would appeal to a lot of mustang buyers and maybe potential conquest buyers.
  23. Not surprisingly my first car was a 75 cutlass (baby blue w/white vinyl top and blue velour interior). Was the 77 the old body style or the new smaller body style? My buddy had a 78 that was the new style but I couldn't remember if they changed in 77 or 78.
  24. Irrelevant when assigning blame and root cause for the accident. If we all drove 10 mph there would be no fatalities at all.
