  1. I know that's the case for Energis, Raptors and GT500s but I did not think that was the case for hybrids (or in this case a hybrid titanium).
  2. Ditto! That's the only intelligent thing he's said here in the last 3 months.
  3. Because there should be a lot more overall MKZ sales than there were before, so they should sell more of both the hybrid and non hybrid. The only real appeal of the old model was the hybrid drivetrain. The new one has so much more to offer.
  4. That wouldn't have anything to do with the percentage of buyers opting for that configuration. And they still sold several hundred thousand units even in 09.
  5. It doesn't matter. Retail orders get priority before any dealer stock orders and it doesn't matter whether they're X plan or not.
  6. You keep ignoring this question: how does Lexus get away with it? And don't say it's because they have other bespoke platforms because the people buying an ES or RX don't give a rats behind what platform the GS, LS and IS ride on.
  7. No incentives on a vehicle that's in short supply and very high demand? Who knew?
  8. BP paid Ford to put that on their gas caps. It's strictly advertising and was in response to GM and BMW doing the same thing a little earlier. Just like "Official mayonnaise of the Summer Olympics"
  9. They won't be late to the party - they'll be early to the party with a true compact pickup that offers the better fuel economy that you mentioned. The current crop of "compact" pickups do not offer that type of fuel economy and never will - they're too big and too heavy with too much capacity. Sales didn't go up with high fuel prices hit a few years ago - why would you think it would happen now? What people think and what actually happens in the market can be totally different. Look at what Ford did with Transit Connect - that's the blueprint for a successful compact pickup - not T6 Ranger.
  10. Exactly. It's not that there isn't a market or that Ford couldn't sell them. It's just not cost effective for Ford to stay in or go back to that market right now. I also wonder how many folks bought new Rangers as opposed to used ones (like the panthers).
  11. They're changing products - using new suppliers on new (to the U.S. at least) platforms. I also think they're trying to do too much too fast with too few resources. Basically they've been pushing the envelope getting new products out as soon as possible and they've now hit the tipping point where it's causing too many problems. I'm sure they'll dial it back a little now that Fusion and MKZ are out the door.
  12. It makes no difference what CR or anyone else gets for fuel economy. The only thing that matters is whether the Ford vehicles get the EPA advertised fuel economy on the EPA test. The new hybrids and ecoboost engines are harder for the average driver to get EPA results but that's a problem with the EPA test procedure, not Ford. And Ford is required by law to advertise the EPA fuel economy results.
  13. We did on the wife's Edge (coming from a 2003 Aviator) and never missed them. I do think they should be an option for those who want them though.
  14. Please explain how Ford "exaggerates" the MPGs. There is a big difference between the 2013 and 2011 MKZ and Fusion hybrids which accounts for the difference in real world mpg vs. EPA testing. It's simple physics.
  15. The workers didn't change - the car did. Flat Rock would have had the same problems if not more.
  16. Sure they will because the overall diameter of the tires are the same. It's called plus 1 when the wheel size goes up by 1" but the overall diameter stays the same.
  17. Don't listen to overall reviews. Listen to the specific complaints then compare those complaints between reviewers to see if it's consistent. Then go check for yourself and see if it bothers you. If you like the car buy it. You're the one who has to drive it not the media folks.
  18. Ford doesn't have to do anything because they have NO CONTROL over the EPA tests. How many freakin' times do we have to say this? The EPA tests are mandatory and the reported numbers must be posted on the window sticker by LAW. And since the tests are used for CAFE compliance every mfr has to do the best they possibly can. If you don't like the window sticker numbers go tell the EPA because they're the only ones who can fix it and do it fairly. BTW - the window sticker numbers are not the ones that are used for CAFE. Window sticker has additional tests and adjustments. They could simply change the non-CAFE tests like the high speed highway test to better match the real world.
  19. My Fusion was missing the trim piece right behind the rear view mirror. They need these extra quality checks.
  20. I wasn't doubting that's what he said. I just don't quite believe it.
