It's understandable why Ford may have let quality slip the last 3 years in their quest to consolidate platforms globally due to the huge cost savings at stake.
If they continue to let it slide that will be a terrible mistake longer term.
That refers to the old model not the new one. But I'll give you that ONE reference. But let's see what C&D says since they're the ones who called the mkz a tarted up fusion.

I rest my case. "Pedestrian roots" is the worst they said. A far cry from their mkz bashing.
Find one ES review that calls it a "tarted up Camry or Avalon" or even comes close to what they say about the mkz. If they even mention it then it's just a passing comment. Total double standard.
In other words you're going to bury your head in the sand and ignore all of the new designs that are totally differentiated and pull out the old designs to prove your point? How convenient.
Edge and MKX are not differentiated enough. They share the same doors and roofline.
That is not the case with the Fusion and MKZ or the Taurus/MKS. They look totally different.
It costs more to come up with so many unique designs and it makes it harder to keep a lifelong customer since they may only like one of the designs.
They want Ford or Lincoln customers, not Mustang or MKZ customers.
Without commonality between vehicle designs you lose the brand identify and you're stuck with a bunch of individual vehicles. The goal is to build brand loyalty rather than vehicle loyalty. And it seems to work fine for all the other mfrs.
The deficit and national debt wasn't as high back then and Bush never played the sequestration card cutting funding for some programs vindictively while continuing to spend money frivously on other things. Had Bush done the same thing I would have the same opinion. It's not Reps vs. Dems it's the people vs. the politicians.
My first thought is loose wiring underneath the back seat but that's just a guess. I can't think of anything else. If it's easy to reproduce it should be easy for the dealer to fix though.
