  1. Where did I make any excuse whatsoever for people who run red lights or street race? I said BOTH were dangerous and illegal and BOTH should be punished. I NEVER said running a red light was minor. What I said was that it was unintentional in most cases. Unintentional and negligent does not mean minor nor does it mean it should not be punished. I also said that I don't necessarily agree with taking vehicles for street racing but you conveniently ignored that. What you're saying is that intent doesn't matter and the punishment should be the same. So that means that someone who falls asleep at the wheel, hits another car and kills the driver should be sentenced the same as someone who commits premeditated murder?
  2. He did leave that one a little open-ended, eh? (pun intended)
  3. It's called a shift flare. Lots of info at fordfusionforum.com .
  4. I'm thinking 2.5L hybrid, 3.7L base engines with 3.5L EB AWD as the top of the line model. Possibly a 2.7L hybrid or 2.7EB base engine instead of the 3.7L.
  5. Yes, in order to maximize volume Lincoln needs to keep prices down. However - Ford is no longer in the game for volume, they're in the game for profits and world class vehicles. The people who won't pay the same price for a Lincoln as a similarly equipped import probably won't buy a Lincoln in the first place. Lincolns should be price competitive with cars of the same class from other mfrs.
  6. Exactly. I'm certain you can get an optioned AMG C class or M3 that costs way more than a base E class or 5 series. Same with the AMG E and M5 over a base S class or 7 series.
  7. Ford didn't have the resources to put into Lincoln until a couple of years ago so there's no way they could have an all new RWD flagship platform right now even if they wanted to. Nor would it be financially prudent right now given all the Lincoln needs to do to be competitive. Is Lexus successful? What are their 2 biggest selling vehicles? Here is a hint - neither are RWD. One of Caddy's 2 successful vehicles are FWD. Would most of us like to see a RWD high performance flagship Lincoln? You bet. Is it "necessary" for Lincoln to be successful as a brand? Not at all.
  8. The batteries alone probably cost over $20K. If you think they're so cheap why don't you go build one for $10K?
  9. Ford already puts a speed limiter on it and that's ALL they need to do or should do. Period. End of discussion. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.
  10. It was a lot easier to justify when GM had 50% of the market (and there was more of a difference between the brands - they weren't just rebadges of Chevys). They could solve the dealer problem by giving each GMC dealer a Chevy Truck franchise. However, I suspect someone at GM upper mgt likes GMC and has made a business case to keep them. Ford could have done the same thing to keep Mercury on the basis that it's making money. However, what Ford figured out is that it may make more sense to take that investment and put it elsewhere in the business (in Ford's case it went to make better Fords and Lincolns). GM is still trying to hold on to the past as much as it can and that will end up hurting them even more.
  11. Because there are tons of people who safely tune their mustang and don't exceed the factory speed limiter - or if they do they upgrade the entire vehicle accordingly. Ford has ZERO responsibility here and they don't need to change anything.
  12. They pump up the tires during shipping to avoid flat spotting the tires. The dealership is supposed to correct it during prep.
  13. So your hypothesis is that the driver saw the red light and ran it on purpose? Or the more obvious answer that the driver wasn't paying attention and didn't see that the light was red? They're both wrong and both dangerous, but one is a willful act and the other is an act of negligence. There is a difference. If you don't believe me go look up the penalties for first degree murder vs. involuntary manslaughter.
  14. Don't you think they already know that and have calculated it into whatever business case they're operating under? Every decision they make has the potential to lose customers - it's just part of doing business. You hope in the long run it's a net positive for the company.
  15. But it's the exact same market for both versions. Anyone who buys a Yukon today would surely buy a similarly equipped (and styled) Tahoe or Suburban tomorrow. Same for all the other GMCs. They're just rebadges just like Mercury used to be. Look at another way - if you were starting up a new mfr today - would you build 2 almost identical but slightly different versions of the same vehicle?
  16. Curse you for making me defend FordBuyer - but that's not what he said at all. He said the GMC versions should be discontinued because they're redundant.
  17. Do you know the difference between fact and opinion? My link Your "opinions" are facts that aren't supported by evidence just like the one I posted about the Earth being flat.
  18. Because they already have a SUV capable of towing 5K lbs so making the Edge that capable would be redundant - not to mention it would add weight and kill fuel mileage. If you need to tow 5K lbs then you need a larger heavier vehicle like the Explorer.
  19. What if I said "IN MY OPINION the earth is flat." Does that make it ok because I said it was my opinion?
