  1. and yet the Bolt/ Volt and lower priced EVs arent exactly setting the world on fire, the EV market seems to be going through a period of staganation ( although part of the cheapys not moving may be vanity based ).... theres the reality check right there....funny how many times Ive been questioned for stating the gleam had worn off , sales were tanking, vehicles were sitting , demand was waning, that people had woken up, and criticizing Ford for going all in ...theres a lot more to the current lack of popularity of EVs than just price, they are most definitely NOT the holy grail, and the transition ( if ultimately it does happen ) should have been adressed in a far more gradual manner. Irony is an EV would be perfect for my current status as a too and from work vehicle, BUT Im not willing to fork out the $, additional in surance and the necessary housepanel upgrade for, as you put...a "toy"...Ford has commited, IMO maybe a bit too much, they cant back out now, so they pretty much HAVE to make it work, this is going to be facinating because thats a huge unpredictable hurdle......
  2. no...so riddle me this...the why are they STILL buying ICE at similar pricing ? .....
  3. hold it...if 48 percent said the prices were too high...that means 52% were fine with it....lol...
  4. demand whether ip or down ahs a direct correlation with production numbers....but judging by what we are recieving in the way of truckloads I think theres a two month communication delay...we are getting Lightnings like crazy, thankfully cheaper XLTs which are still moving VERY slowly, but at least they are moving...
  5. hybrids of any sort have been exceptionally slow...could that be partly because of Ford prioritizing their BEVs?...cant answer that one...
  6. well theyve cut back for obvious reasons but hopefully if the market turns...and itsfickle for sure...at least they can up capacity if necessary...
  7. electrics are a dime a dozen here as well...and maybe thats why weve noticed the decline in sales so significantly...that and several rows of unsold Mach E's and Lightnings...Ill leave the Transit BEVs out back out of the conversation, they were just a bad mistake.
  8. ?...Perhaps Im mis-understanding...but thats rather a surprizing comment from you....doesnt matter if you know the product or not...if you dont have customers that want a product all the knowledge in the world is completely irrelevent....its NOT the Dealerships that control demand, as per Rangers09 comment " However, with HEV/PHEV, they can't get enough of them."....THATS where the demand is right now...blame the Dealers all you want, ultimately its the product.....BEVs right product wrong time?....perhaps...the reluctance may be backlash towards having the whole narrative rammed down ones throat, but Im not sure thats ALL that it is...
  9. IMO its much like the Delorean, and Hummer...its for the " HEY look at me " crowd....
  10. everything will change volume wise when the special edition Mach E Rally is released....
  11. issue is I do not think Fords profit margin on the Maverick is that much at all, thats the issue in a nutshell....due to ongoing commodity and supply issues one has to err business towards the more profitable vehciles in their lineup...and sadly that means the higher priced and equipped units in their lineup...and its doesnt help that its even MORE of a necessity when that profit is needed to counter the losses experienced by the Electric arm of their lineup...
  12. Only when theres a problem....FACT...they couldnt and CANT handle it, the Dealer base is their buffer between customer and corporate, Ive sat back ( and Im sure Icecapades will confirm this ) and watched their attempts at circumventing the Dealer base, it bordered on comedy and ultimately, in person phone conversations all ended with the cop out "Contact your Dealer".....it was cut and paste 101. The screaming we encountered after being told by a Ford rep they had price protection was a classic case....thank god we had backup buyers for those that told us to go :"F" ourselves....
  13. for whatever the reason, and its personal, ihope they leave the friggen Oceans alone....man are we parasitic...
  14. taking this with a grain as well as this is only based on what Ive read, BUT Volvo has also stated they want to explore the stamping method, but as read....makes manufacturing costs plummet as one stamping could replace 5- 10 or so separate panels currently, so lower manufacturer costs leads to either potentially lower MSRPs, or same MSRP and more profit , but makes insurance costs rise as repair would require another full stamping, which I would say would be also more expensive ( with not only the single panels cost but shipping on one huge panel ) and substantially increased repair costs ( instead of having to remove one small panel and its ancilliaries now itbasically 1/2 the car ) so theoretically could make any accident closer to basically being a writeoff from and Insurance Companies standpoint.....
  15. barring the funky headlights on their trucks and SUV which I just cant warm up too, I like the Rivians..starting to see more and more of them...and the vans are most likely a better option than Fords dismal effort...so fingers crossed. Sidebar....had a guy that owns a rental company that bought a Bronco off me, super nice guy, drove in in a Rivian truck...asked him what he thought....LOVED it. But he sold it and kept the Bronco...basiocally staed he was having more fun with it!...nice to hear.
  16. we signed up, but I believe the "pressure" has been relaxed somewhat...may be due to Corporate having to incentivise their "golden goose" thats not exactly living up to initial expectation...
  17. ?...has to be one of the DUMBEST ideas ever...lets charge a monthly for Heated seats?...are you serious??? at the price of those walking electrical problems ( BMW's ) THAT feature shoudl be standard...the nit wit that thought A "subscription" for whats a standard feature on most cars , let alone one classed as a luxury manufacturer, should be fired, or at least the idiot that signed off on it. WHO in their right mind thought that was a good idea???? ASININE! Ill be curious as to what Farley comes up for something worthy of "subscription"...hint...its got to be highly desirable and something thats NOT considered standard equipment.
  18. apparently they have 2 years of cash reserves, but they are losing 33k per unit..so we will see, i think Lucid is in an even more precarious position, then theres Fisker, sigh they ALL jumped on the bandwagon for better or worse, results to be announced at a later date......as for Amazon cashing out...not sure...they own a 10% stake....
  19. BMW tried the "subscription" with heated seats being one feature...how asinine is that???????????? So, its not just Field and Farley and Ford....now if it was some sort of conscierge service with getting priority when the cars in for service with maybe a discount on regular service charges or something that makes customers feel special...then maybe youre on to something...I tried to get our dealership to have something similar for people that literally bought here, not somehwere else, they werent sure that was legal????
  20. Ford has been ramming "bright ideas that amount to nothing" down our throats for decades....lol...very, VERY few of them amount to anything other than making more work for everyone with no reward other than some "expert" in Corporate getting an employee of the month award...LMAO.
  21. only issue I have with Nuclear...is in wartime that potentially makes one a target...and we know how highly some of of the Nations of questionable purpose think of the US.
  22. they are peripherals...a majority people dont buy certain brands or products based on basic after the fact items...Ford has been pushing their Telematics down our throats as well...now if you have a Fleet already it could make sense, and thankfully Ford just gives us a phone number to pass on...I veiw it almost as their "side business"...I will say, product dependent that it may ultimately promote product loyalty but its aimed more to Fleet companies, something Ford has pretty much turned their back on lately...so sucess remains to be seen...its model kinda of parallels how Enterprize, ARI, Wheels etc cater to their clients...
  23. yes...under warranty...theres some fuzzy math in the maintennce claims that probably have a valid answer and MAY be based over the projected lifetime of the vehcile...I have heard that routine service on teslas is rather expensive for what is done....been relayed a few times when we take them in on trade...
