  1. Hi gfhii. :D Suv_guy has a good point, especially concerning the steering wheel buttons. I do not know for certain, but have my doubts that it can be installed with 100% full functionality. Despite what the "Floor Manager" says, since most Salespeople have no idea about electronic and mechanical questions, I would ask to speak to whoever does those installations at the Dealership, as only that individual can answer your questions correctly. The "Floor Managers" job is to get you to sign the papers first and ask questions later. However, being the picky type, if I were in your situation (and have the luxury of being able to wait), I would have the Dealer order me the correct vehicle, as I like everything to be correct from the factory. Another option (if you don't want to wait again) would be to have the Dealer take some money off the price of the incorrect vehicle, throw some free maintenance in (I know you say it's a Ford Dealer, but if it's an MKX, you already have 1 year free scheduled maintenance from Lincoln, so don't let them pull that on you), or some other mutually agreeable compromise. Let us know what happens, and good luck! :beerchug:
  2. Hi Wildcat. :D I do not believe that the horns and lights can be programmed to honk and flash when you unlock your vehicle. They will only do this during locking. Most Factory alarms and Factory remote locking systems function in this manner. Aftermarket systems are the ones that make all kinds of unnecessary noises. Your Owners Manual states that you can program the lights to come on when you unlock, if they do not now. However, it also states that some Expeditions do not have this feature available. If you have the latest printing of the Expedition Owners Manual, you can access all programmable features by reading pages 145-160. All of the information is contained there. Good luck. :beerchug:
  3. Hi Steeltoes. :D Yes, perhaps I was not specific enough. Use an oil meeting the proper specifications required by Ford in your Owners Manual. In fact, to quote the Manual: "To protect your engine's warranty use Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 or an equivalent SAE 5W-20 oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A. SAE 5W-20 oil provides optimum fuel economy and durability performance meeting all requirements for your vehicles engine." And these are the details and numbers from a 2007 Ford Owners Manual Specification chart: Ford Part Name/Ford Specification XO-5W20-QSP (US) CXO-5W20–LSP12 (Canada) WSS-M2C930-A with API Certification Mark Good luck! :beerchug:
  4. Hi Steeltoes. :D The only advice you cannot go wrong with is: If the recommended viscosity is 5W-20, use 5W-20. If you use another viscosity, have engine trouble, and Ford/the Dealer should perform a breakdown test of your oil, any Warranty claim you have could be void. Why take the chance? Good luck! :beerchug:
  5. Hi one2gamble. :D Yes, you certainly can get a FWD Lincoln MKZ. In fact, I own one (and we love it)! :happy feet: Good luck! :beerchug:
  6. Hi bobm. :D Base price for a FWD model is now $30,555. There was an early production price increase. Where the price is listed as $30,175 the car was an early build 2008. In reality, when you add the $740 Destination charge, the base price is really $31,295 for a FWD model. Hope this information helps. Good luck! :beerchug:
  7. Hi jcmeyer. :D No, the "Remote Start" capabilities are not in the vehicle. The control modules and necessary connections are not already in the Edge. It is an extra cost option. Your confusion stems from the fact that "theoldwizard' began discussing "One Touch Start" capability possibly being in the PCM, and you ran with that. "Remote Start" and "One Touch Start" are two completely different capabilities. If you want remote start, it is an option that needs to be completely installed either as a Factory option, or a Dealer installed option. You cannot just purchase the keyfob. Also, as akirby stated, the "Garage Door Opener" is part of the Homelink system on the visor. You program it to your Automatic Garage Door opener, if your Garage Door Opener has the programming capability. Good luck! :beerchug:
  8. Hi jcmeyer5. :D They are expecting way too much! Even new Edge's with 6 miles on the odometer are not being sold for MSRP (except to those not very adept at negotiating). Of course, they are hoping they will find a sucker willing to pay that ridiculous amount, and they probably will. Any vehicle used as a "Managers Demo" with over 5600 miles on it is not new, technically or not. It is a used vehicle. Sure, the Dealer can "Register and Title" it as new, but to you the buyer, that vehicle has been used for 5600 miles! In fact, over 15% of your new vehicle warranty (36,000 miles) is gone before you even purchase it. You would be better off purchasing a new vehicle, optioned exactly as you like it with no demo mileage on it. Have you thought about ordering? You get exactly what you want, no settling for missing options, no paying for extra options you didn't want. The car comes in with your name on the "Window Sticker", and has not been test driven by God knows who (or driven 5600 miles by some mysterious "Manager)! And if I were you, I would try another Dealership, as I don't care for their business practices. Of course, they are free to ask any price they like, but you are also free to take your business elsewhere. Good luck! :beerchug:
  9. Hi Steeltoes. :D First, read your Owners Manual, the answer is in there. How do you know the person answering your question here knows what they are talking about? That being said, there is no special break-in required on most new cars. Ford recommends that you vary your speed for the first thousand miles. In other words, don't take a 5 hour trip and drive at 60mph for all five hours. Try to vary your speed by about 10mph every 10 minutes or so. So, drive at 65 for 10 minutes, then drop to 55 for 10 minutes, then increase to 70mph etc, etc. Of course, driving around town, the speed changing will take care of itself. Avoid jack rabbit starts and extreme heavy braking as much as possible. Give your engine and brakes time to break-in gently. There is no special break in maintenance either. You don't need to change your oil until the first regular maintenance interval (probably 5,000 miles, but check your Owners Manual, or Maintenance Schedule to be sure). Some people still like to change their oil after the first 1,000 miles, if you would like to, it is up to you. However, it is not really necessary. Seriously though, take the time to go over the information in your Owners Manual and Maintenance Schedules. Good luck with your new SUV! :beerchug:
  10. Hi JonathandD. :D There is a vehicle tracking Forum. It is where the Ford Employees on Blue Oval News perform the courtesy of vehicle location. I think you will have better luck posting your request there. On the main forums page, click on "Ford Employee Forums", then click on the "Vehicle Locator By Ford Employees" forum. Click on the "New Topic" button at the top right, and post your request there. One thing though. I notice the VIN you list has 19 characters. Unless things have changed for 2008, they normally have 17 characters. I would call the Dealer and double check your VIN, as I have a feeling it will come back as not being in the system. Good luck! :beerchug:
  11. Hi djo715. :D As you have heard, those engine problems have been resolved. It is usually very easy to search Dealer inventory. However, the Ford website is not even listing the 2007 F-250 Dealer Inventory anymore. They do still list some other 2007 models, but only 2008 F-250's. Usually, it would be done like this: Go to Link: Check Ford Inventory. Under "Shopping Tools", click on "Check Dealer Inventory". Click on the "Trucks" tab. Then you would click on the vehicle you are interested in (in this case 2007 F-250). You would then enter your ZIP Code and a listing of the 5-6 closest Dealerships would come up. You would then be able to check Inventory at each Dealership, one at a time. You can then go back and change ZIP Codes to alter your search area. Again unfortunately, Ford no longer seems to be listing 2007 F-250 Inventory. You can give it a try and see if you have any better luck. Good luck with your search! :beerchug:
  12. Yes, it is a poorly written, garbage review. Does not even devote any time to the new, more powerful, award winning 3.5 L engine. Junk journalism. But perhaps we can take some solace in this 2006 Fusion revisit review, in the same magazine? LINK Fusion Review
  13. Hi Mike. :D Again, you should still be well within the bumper to bumper warranty, so take it to the Dealer and let them see if they can find the underlying problem. You want to do that before you begin any self-help, so that you do not mask the problem and make it harder to diagnose. Once your Expedition is out of warranty, the spray method would be a good (but temporary) idea. Hopefully, it will be something simply remedied. Good luck! :beerchug:
  14. Hi micmay. :D I do not have an Expedition, but I did have a similar problem in my 2001 Cougar, when it was new. Mine was a musty smell when ever I would use the heat. It was caused by a buildup of leaves and debris, under the grille in the cowl area, by the passenger compartment air filter. The leaves would hold moisture and get moldy, then the musty smell would be pulled into the cabin with the fresh air. If yours is a musty smell also, it could be caused by the A/C system drain being clogged, causing a mold or mildew problem in the system. Or, the passenger compartment air vent in the cowl area could have a buildup of debris, in a manner similar to mine. As to whether this would be covered under warranty, the answer would be yes (unless they discover the problem is caused by something like your kids stuffing a dead hamster into the A/C vents, etc, etc ). Have them check it when you bring it in for your next service. Those products, usually an aerosol you spray into the system through the cowl area, they will get rid of the odor. But as you said, it is only a temporary solution to the problem. Let us know how you make out, and good luck. :beerchug: PS - Hi Roadrunner. :D It would be better if you would start your own thread for your question. It is not considered polite to hijack another persons thread (I am sure you did not mean to). I would be more than happy to answer when you do. Good luck! :beerchug:
  15. Just so forum members reading this do not get confused: All AXZD-Plan sales are "non-negotiable". And all Incentives available to the "General Public" are usually applicable to all AXZD-Plan sales. In fact, there are sometimes "Special AXZD-Plan" Incentives available only to AXZD-Plan buyers, in addition to the publicly available Incentives. Good luck all! :beerchug: PS - There are certain Incentives which cannot be combined with AXZD-Plan sales, such as the "College Graduate", "AQHA Member Incentive" etc, etc. These are not considered as Incentives available to the "General Public", as you need to be a member of particular group to qualify, whether through service, attendance or paid membership. Just thought I would add that.
  16. Hi Chris. :D There is no "set date" or amount of time, for a VIN to be assigned. It all depends on the scheduling of a particular vehicle, and it can vary from vehicle to vehicle (even from F-250 to F-250). Also, to be completeyl blunt, it is entirely possible that a VIN has been assigned, and you Dealer just does not know it yet. In my experience, many Dealers are not exactly on the ball concerning getting production information to the buyer. Essentially, it seems once they have your deposit, you should be happy with knowing "It will get here when it gets here. And when it does, we will call you." Not all Dealers, but many of them. The following is an outline, which I copied and pasted, of the production scheduling process for a new vehicle. "As you can see, the VIN is assigned at the Serialize Date", and I believe the "Window Sticker" becomes available at the "Blend Date": Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order. Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created. Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built. Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built. Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day. Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle. Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping. Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant. Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle. Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle. If I am mistaken, hopefully someone will jump in and give the correct information. I know this does not really "answer" your original question, but at least it gives you some insight into the process. Good luck! :beerchug:
  17. Hi blazerdude20. :D In general, D-Plan pricing is about $100 more than the AZ-Plan price, and a good deal lower than X-Plan pricing. If I recall correctly, you have stated that you work at a Ford Dealership. In fact, if you are planning to purchase on the D-Plan, you must work at one. Why don't you just ask the Sales Manager at your Dealership? He can give you an exact price on any car you like. No offense intended, but in the last few months you have said you were going to buy a Ranger, a Fusion, an 08 Escape, a Fusion again, a green Focus, and now a Taurus (and those are just the ones I can recall off the top of my head). It would be much easier for you and others if you would just ask your employer. I can tell you that without Incentives, a Taurus SEL will not get as low as $20,000. Good luck! :beerchug:
  18. Hi PJueckstock. :D If I am reading your first post correctly (and by looking at your picture), I believe you are actually waiting for a front left fender, not a quarter panel. While the fronts can be called quarter panels they are most commonly called fenders (to avoid this type of confusion), and the rears are considered quarter panels. I think OAC_Sparky thinks it is a left rear quarter panel. Is the left rear quarter panel also damaged? In the case of your Edge (again, looking at the picture), there would be no need for slicing off a piece of a full stamping, as the front fenders are essentially bolted on. It can be confusing. In any event, the back order is likely due to the fact that most/all new parts being produced are currently going to production vehicles (as OAC_Sparky was alluding to), so production can be ramped up. I realize this is of little comfort to you, but as parts production is increased, replacement part stock will increase and these back orders will disappear. I wish you the best of luck and hope your parts get in sooner. Once you get your Edge back, I also hope you have no future need to test my replacement part theory. Good luck! :beerchug:
  19. Hi 2_Pistol_Packer. :D Okay, let's try and answer your questions, one at a time. First of all, the Dealer cannot charge you a "Destination Fee". The "Destination Fee", "Delivery Charge" or whatever they may try to call it, is already included in the X-Plan price. This is Ford's rule, and is non-negotiable by the Dealer. Of course, many dishonest Dealers will try to charge you dis-allowed fees anyway, so it is your job to be an educated consumer and stand up for yourself. Unfortunately, as you quickly learned, your Dealer seems to be one of the dishonest ones. The $4 "Govt. Fee" may be valid according to what it is for. For example, I live in NJ and we have a State Mandated "Tire Recycling Fee", which is applied, by the State, to all new car purchases. $1.50 per tire, $7.50 total (5 tires including the spare). If the $4 fee is mandated by your State, it is valid. If it is something going into the Dealers pocket, it is not allowed. Check with your state Motor Vehicle Office, or another Dealer to see if it is legit (it is only $4 though). Again however, the "Destination Fee" is not allowed. Have the Dealer remove it! The "30 Day Rule" is a rule established by this forum. In the past, people have asked for PINS and then never used them, and not notified the employee so it could be canceled. The rule is put in place to let you know that if you do not use the PIN within 30 days, and do not keep the employee who provided the PIN updated as to the progress of your purchase, the PIN can/will be canceled without further notice. That being said, if you notify the employee who provided the PIN that you are ordering, and that it will take 8 weeks, 5 weeks or however long, most people will work with you. Just let the employee know what is going on, so that they are not left in the dark. According to Ford's rules, PINS are good for one year from the date of issue. That is why the Dealer never heard of the "30 Day Rule". However, they can be canceled by the employee who issued it, at anytime they wish. The PIN is not considered to be "used" or "applied" until your vehicle has arrived and you have signed the contract and driven it away. So you will need to inform your PIN provider of what is going on with your order. Hope this information helped. Good luck! :beerchug:
  20. Hi biggyj1206. :D I feel your pain. I know this info doesn't help make the wait less painful, but it was probably due to the lack of spare parts for repair. In other words, all parts being produced were going to new car production, and there was no build-up of spare parts in the warehouses. Of course, this will change as time progresses, parts production ramps up, and the parts depots build up a supply of replacement parts. Unfortunately, knowing why makes it no less painful. Hopefully, you will have no further need to test out my theory personally again. Good luck. :beerchug:
  21. Hi "The General". :D Yes, that information is correct, and let me apologize in advance if you are just providing the referral fee info for educational purposes. However, if that was not the purpose, let me point out that the original poster ("freedomlou" the poor guy who started this mess), never makes any mention or inference concerning the paying of referral fees to anyone. He simply states that if you send your family or friends to him for the purpose of purchasing a Ford vehicle on the AXZ-Plan, he will be happy to assist them (as any salesperson trying to make an honest living would). Sheeesh, we already know that "Local1111" got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Let's not make more of this than necessary. And again, my apologies if I misread your meaning and I made more of this than necessary! Good luck all! :beerchug:
  22. You are 100% correct OAC_Sparky, akirby and others. :beerchug: That is exactly what he is requesting. "Hi, I'm Lou. I now sell Ford's. Here is my Dealerships address and phone #. Here is my E-mail address. Send your friends and family my way, tell them to ask for Lou, and I will be happy to assist them in their purchase!" Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
  23. Hi CHUCKK. :D You might get quicker assistance if you post your request for tracking in the "Vehicle Locator By Ford Employees" forum. That is the forum which Ford Employees who have access to the "Tracking System" actively monitor. Click on the "Ford Employees Forum", then click on the "Vehicle Locator By Ford Employees" forum. Click the "New Topic" button, and post your request for tracking. Start your own new post, do not hijack someone else's. Good luck! :beerchug:
  24. 2008 Ford Taurus Limited AWD FINALLY IN THE GARAGE! Hi 2008fordtaurus. :D Does that addition to your signature mean you finally have your new car? I can't believe after all we have been through together , you did not immediately let me know! Congratulations, and best of luck with her! :beerchug:
  25. Hi Pioneer! :D Eight pages last I checked! EDIT - Make that nine!
