  1. I agree with akirby. Unfortunately, its probably toast. The camshafts are probably locked up. They are the first thing to get starved of oil. You should be able to find a used engine with good mileage for a decent price. The only real issue I see with that, is that the cost of repair may exceed the value of the car. It may be more cost effective to find another Taurus to replace it rather than fix it. Good Luck
  2. Does your escape have Sync? The new Sat radios are built into the radio. The 08 escape has a external satellite radio module. If you have sync, you may run into a compatibility issue. My opinion, the best way to add factory sirius is to replace the ACM (audio control module) with one equipped with sat. United radio has that kit you mentioned and yes you loose sat2 and sat3 for extra presets. But it does work. A new ACM is very expensive, but maybe you could find one on ebay. Let us know how that kit works out? Plus, if you found a ACM that is from a higher end escape, you could get a 6 disc. Look for a 09 or 10 radio.
  3. The RMST module can be programmed not to shut down the engine when the door is opened. The only issue is that MY key will be overridden anytime the RMST Is used. I recommed visiting the dealer. Unless you are versed in changing porgramming options in the RMST. It requires a listening to a series of horn honks and different inputs to change option banks and options. But heres the info. BANK 2, OPTION 7-LED OFF ALLOWS VEHICLE TO STAY RUNNING---BUT IT ALSO CIRCUMVENTS mykey OPERATION. Also, I forgot to mention, you might be able to call 1800 ford key and see if they can walk you thru it. Its really not hard after you have done it.
  4. A co-worker of mine went Sunday. He said that Ford had the Fiesta movement outside Sunday. He got to drive one. I think he said they had 5 of them. I wish I went sunday. I went Saturday night.
  5. It was at the Convention center. Its been at the convention center for a while.
  6. I went to auto show today. I have to say that Ford had a nice setup. They had the Explorer America. Its cool in person. Lots of people in and out of all the cars. The Taurus stayed full. Ford was one of the best and busiest manufacturer. Ofcourse the super high end stuff was getting attention, Aston, Porchse, Maserati, etc.. Chevy only had some excitment around the ZR-1 and Camaro all other cars were dead. Ford gave away Fusion Hybrid t-shirts. They had some cool hands on displays with a nav unit and some cut-away turbos. Side note..... I went to autobell today to get the MMH washed, and some douche of a guy was behind me in a Toyo Verenza. He was just talking about how great the car was yada, yada. Anyway when they guy was wiping it dry the mirror cover fell off. It was priceless. He had just mentioned how good the fit and finish was and not 2 mins later a autobell employee was putting the mirror cover back on. I know it could have happened to any make, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I think Ford is on the right track... Keep it up
  7. I agree!!! Who wants to purchase a car thats called the "0 Series". Just call it the Looser series. The 1 series is bad enough, but 0? You tell someone, "I bought a BMW". They reply. "oh what kind". "A Zero Series. They take a Mini and put a BMW emblem on the hood." But hey its a BMW! I can't help think of a Cadillac Cimmeron or Catera!
  8. To me it looks worse in person. I personaly think the focus sedan is not the prettiest car anyways, then add a pea soup green to it, and its really ugly. Heres a better picture of what it looks like.
  9. We had a new Focus sedan come in today that the color was called Natural Neutral. Has anyone else seen this? More importantly who likes it? I am very curious as to how anyone could like this color. I am talking bowling shoe ugly!!!! It reminds me of a glow stick thats run out. Maybe it would look better on a different vehicle. First thing that came to my mind was a mistake was made in the paint department and instead of throwing it out, someone said.... Ah just use it anyway.. I think it may have burnt my retina....... To each they own I guess....
  10. That piece goes at the top of the strut. You are correct that the manual does not show it. I have a 06 Mariner hybrid and I just replaced the struts. From what I can tell, that piece is basicaly for the dust boot to slide up into. They were the exact same way on mine. There is a TSB about replacing the dust boots with new updated ones. I did not replace those pieces on mine yet because I have not found replacements yet. I put on the new boots but they did not come with the broken pieces in your pics.
  11. Some LS have a powersteering whine. If its not leaking fluid, or really screaming, I would not worry about it. As far as the Cruise is concerned, two issues I have seen. One is the cruise switches. I have seen them fail. The other is the Clockspring. Thats the winding of wire behind the steering wheel. Most of the time when the clock spring goes bad, the Air bag lamp is the first thing people notice. Sometimes the clock spring causes the audio controls on the wheel not to operate properly. I recommend a reprogram of the PCM. The early models had a reflash for various issues. If the reflash doesn't fix your shift concerns, you may need a solenoid body in the transmission. That can be expensive. I personaly love the LS and wish Ford kept it. My only real complaint on it was it needed more leg room in the back. My favorite LS is either a 03 premium sport, or a 06 with a elite package. 04 and 05 models were cheapened up a bit. Look at a 03 chrome wheel and look at 04 chrome wheel. Same design just a nicer finish in between the spokes in 03. Plus 04 and up they removed auto wipers. I like gadgets, even if they don't work 100%. Good luck with your LS.
  12. The LS in its early years had alot of problems. The 06 was the last year. I believe alot of the issues were corrected by then. It is however, a very complex car. It has alot of modules and things to go wrong. I personaly love the LS and would buy one if I found the exact one I wanted. How many miles are on it? Get me the VIN and I can run it and see what kind of warranty history it has had. This is a car that I would recommend getting a ESP on it if possible. Parts are expensive. Get a 100k warranty because the ball joints and wheel bearing are unreal in cost. They drive awesome. Good power and nice handling. A big deal I have found on LS's is if the previous customer used Premiumn fuel or not. Spark knock can kill these engines. I had a customer that had one with 45k on it and a hole in a piston from spark knock he ran 87 octane.
  13. Yes there is a TSB for this concern. There is a new evaporator case to correct this issue. TSB 08-9-8
  14. I agree completely. Hybrid or not, if you want a ESP, get a Ford ESP. The aftermarket warranty companies can be a pain, and they look for any reason not to pay. Some of them actually won't pay for fluids and sealers. Only the broken part. Also, sometimes you may have to pay out of pocket and get rembursed. Ford ESP is a piece of cake. If its covered, you pay your deductible and thats it. Like all of them, if the cost is over a set amount, they may send a inspector. In my experiences the aftermarket warrantys are crooked. They can and sometimes will use junk yard parts, like transmissions, ac compressors etc.... Ford ESP does not.
  15. I am sorry to hear about your issue with your flex. My personal experience with the Flex has not been alot since we have not had many problems at all. I don't know of any known issues with them as far as your concerns. However, I have read some of the Fords dealer message boards of some techs having connector pin issues causing a variety of electrical mishaps. I am sure the dealer wants to fix your car as much as you want it fixed. I think that your issue is a wiring or connector problem. Let us know the outcome. I hope they get this fixed and you begin enjoying your flex again.
  16. The 09 has different airfilter vs 08. Like you said, it has a cylinder style filter. You may have to get it at the dealer for the time being. Aftermarket may not stock/list them yet. Actually, its possible the dealer may not stock it yet. It may need to be ordered. The flat one isn't going to work. P.S. the motorcraft part number should be on the end of the old filter. I am not sure the number, but it should start with a FA-xxx I just looked on Motorcraft.com 09 list 2 air filters for 3.0 you should need a FA-1893. It lists a FA-1696 (old style) and the FA-1893 should be new style.
  17. I don't mind the exterior. Nice looking car. Makes me think that Lexus and Acura had a baby with a little tainted GM DNA. I am not sure what it is, but I hate that dash. The rest of the interior is fine. Alot better than past Buicks. Maybe its the wood running along the top. To me its ugly as a bowling shoe. Ofcourse the dash is not as bad as the Enclave or that old Aztec Buick, what was it Rendevous? I dislike the dash as much as I do the 06-09 MKZ. Either way, its not a car for me. However, maybe the best Buick yet as far as effort.
  18. I agree with you, but I just want to reinerate a point I made. If you modify the rear diff with a locker of any type, make sure you disable advancetrac. I am affraid, in a slide the advancetrac may try and correct the skid and apply one of the rear brakes and cause the slide to be uncontrolable. Unless you get a e locker that you can control with a switch at only crawl speeds.
  19. What I don't understand is that TI says the switch is not the only component in Ford cruise system and the switch is not to blame. However, the only ones that catch fire are the switches that leak brake fluid.
  20. Look at this article thats a response from TI. Looks like it was a TI design. http://newscenter.ti.com/Blogs/newsroom/ar...ord-recall.aspx
  21. All you need to do is go disconect the pressure switch and look for fluid. If its dry then don't worry about it. If you see fluid in the connector, leave it disconnected until you can get the recall done.
  22. I love to hate that show!!!! Its so bad its great!!! I love the hippo with sharpe eyebrows
  23. Thats a coil 1,2,3,or 4 primary circuit failure. Have you checked for spark at each plug wire one at a time? You should have power on red/green wires to both coils. Then you should have a pulse on the other wires on the coils. You can use a test light and with the engine running see if you get flash from the test light while back probing the connector to the coil. Sounds like you either have a wire problem or a PCM bad.
  24. It is set to shut off when the door is open because of Mykey. The issue is that if a remote start is used then the Key will not get read when the car is already running. So if a user with a restricted key gets into a vehicle already running, the restrictions will not be applied. Thats ofcourse unless you restrict the remote start under mykey. But then the issue will be reversed and Mykey restrictions will always apply when remote start is used.
  25. The switch will be replaced with a new style if the old one is leaking fluid. I think they should have just replaced all the switches and be done with it.
