  1. I have all of the lights on in my superduty Fogs and lowbeams on everytime I'm driving anywhere night or day. It adds to my ability to be seen by other drivers. You'd think people would see a superduty coming down the road, but you'd be suprised at the number of people that pull out in front of me and especially when towing a heavy load it's not exactly easy to stop so I make sure they see me. With the running lights on top the cab, lights in the mirrors, regular driving lights, and fog lights on very rarely do people not see me unless they just plain aren't paying attention. The lights on the bronco aren't aimed anywhere close to where they should be so I get flashed whenever I drive it at night, but it is mostly an offroad only truck so it's very rare that I'm driving it on the road at night. I'd adjust the lights, but the adjustments are rusted out.
  2. I'm going to guess on it being the Taurus. No particular reason or evidence, just have a feeling it might be it.
  3. In the early stages of life for most vehicles as the new engine "loosens up" and other components begin to break in, there is usually at least a small gain in efficiency. I think the loss in efficiency that you're talking about would be marginal at best..
  4. I would argue that is not the case if they are maintained properly. That said, how many people actually maintain their vehicles properly.
  5. I think I read that it was bagged, so yeah it looks low for anyone right now - it's laying on it's frame. With bags you can put it at any ride height you want, within reason of course. I'm a fan of the numbers, would love to see it up at ride height and in motion though, I'm sure it will look much better then.
  6. I understand where you're coming from and agree with it for the most part, but I'm thinking why not just buy the Edge teh way she wants it optioned out and then either put a new stereo in it or have the dealer upgrade it for you if you don't know how or don't want to put one in?
  7. Anyone have the youtube link? I can't seem to find it. 12.75 is very impressive in a sedan that heavy.
  8. I like the monochrome and black above, but I'm not a fan of the "eyebrows" on the grill in any of it's iterations, it just looks like a little bit too much for me. Has anyone chopped those off by either raising the headlights up a little or bringing the hood down some (all the way across)?
  9. ^That I don't know the details on the 5.0, but I don't see it having the tq curve of the modulars. I'd be glad to be proven wrong though.
  10. So we're looking at 6.7 PSD, 6.2 gas, maybe the 5.0 (or will the 5.4 continue with it's low end grunt?) and a new 6spd auto? And the exterior/interior of course.
  11. Does anyone know if they will be getting a new cab structure or is it another changing the grill and adding new drive trains? What about the interior?
  12. Superduties are leaps and bounds better than the older trucks. The 05-07 style is still my favorite, looking forward to seeing what they do for the '11s.
  13. I'm doing a research and presentation project for my engineering materials class and have chosen to do it on the CGI material I've been hearing about for Ford's new diesel engines. Does anyone have some sources of information on them or know if they are still planning on doing that? I remember reading something about the possibility of CGI in some of the newer gas engines also. Thanks
  14. Chuck they can be found in good condition for under 3000. Or find a truck with a 400/351m - 460 swap is stupid simple, in the process of building a 460 right now for my 78 bronco.
  15. Seems like if they brought the lights down a few inches and brought some of the fender/hood onto the vertical plane of the front of the vehicle it would look a hell of a lot better..
  16. Kind of off topic, but do you know if the powerstrokers have the "water cooled center bearing" in the turbos? I always let my 6.0 idle down for about a minute under normal driving, longer if I'm towing heavy or driving the piss out of it.. per the owner's manual.
  17. The auto/manual hubs in the superduty are manual backup for if the vacuum system fails - either in 4hi or 4lo. My vacuum system hasn't worked since I bought my truck, I just get out and turn the hubs manually (actually leave them locked in most of the time) I noticed that as well.. strange. Maybe it's something like when the 04+ F150 first came out with a larger space in regular cabs?? Or it could just be an optical illusion.
  18. What about the Flex? Has a center console, but I don't think you're going to find much of anything that doesn't have one..
  19. There was a harley truck last year or the year before with 450hp I think. It was touted as the most powerful f150 ever iirc...
  20. ball joints and the unit bearings on the front end - make sure they are replaced before buying if you're working on a deal they are $$$ to replace. brakes on these trucks don't last very long without warping either so if it's vibrating like hell when you step on the brakes it's pretty common, but new brakes never hurt a deal either. as far as the 7.3... they're pretty bullet proof, the only problems they have really is the cam sensor that will go out occasionally but they're cheap and easy to replace. umm.. pinion seals on the sterling 10.5 rear axle are sometimes a problem. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
  21. I'd like to see one of these trucks reviewed on top gear. Bad ass truck, I think there might be something wrong with you if you don't think its cool just based on how badly it beats the competition.
  22. Nice. my aunt's old crv had the picnic table thing, not a new idea, but still a cool thing to have.
  23. yeah, but people will still roll them doing over the speed limit, sue ford, and then get millions of dollars for being a moron.
