WTF Mulally just said yesterday that there would be no need to ask for more concessions. Now 24 hours later he's saying "NOT, I changed my mind". He does understand that we buy cars and trucks right? How the heck does he expect anyone to buy a new vehicle if we don't know how much we'll be making from one week to the next. Even with the 12 months of car payments if you should lose your job.

How about they just eliminate the sales tax on the purchase of a new car? Isn't that equal to the cost of labor in a vehicle? Instead of asking for more concessions from the workers, and saying we need to make more sacrafices. Why don't they (the government) quit pointing at us for more answers, and just put their money where their mouths are. Eliminate the sales tax on new cars, or shut the heck up about the UAW needing to make more sacrifice.

I'm trying to get them to "open the contract" on my lease, to see it they would make concessions. If I can't trust a 4 year contract at work, then I'll not be leasing again. Screw me once, shame on you type deal. I understand the whole "shared sacrifice" thing. I hope they do too.

Where did this professor get his facts for the last sentance? We've be making concessions for the last 3 contracts. So we vote on concessions to look good to the media, and they still say the UAW is to blame. The 10% cost of labor to build a car also includes managments and officers (CEO, president) wages. It just goes to show you, figures don't lie, but liars figure.

I was told that when you are being questioned in front of the senate, you are only allowed to answer questions that are asked of you, and nothing more. And only when you are being asked. So, if he wasn't asked a specific question like "Why do you get a bonus when the company was losing money?" He wasn't allowed to answer, "It's not a bonus, it's a lump sum payment in lieu of a pay raise." I didn't know this and thought the same thing about how he handled himself in front of the senate. Now I know why.
