  1. HA....HAHA This guy is great, but I get where he's going. People who want to portray what they aren't drive priuses.
  2. What I loath most of all is any late 80's or so (for instance) japanese compact lacking paint and with a muffler so big you could fit a watermelon up it. I find that they usually drive like asses too. And to that I add the Lexus SC430 (if not already mentioned)
  3. I love those wide fenders! Just what the current model needed to give it some more stance.
  4. My guess is they would add Ford Racing power packages, beyond about 325hp I'm not sure what to expect. Or for that matter how to expect it. I keep swearing I read somewhere that Mulally slipped about a year and a half ago and stated that the next gen 'stang would have 350hp, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Edit: Here it is...it's all hearsay and this was back when it was expected for '09 http://www.leftlanenews.com/2009-ford-must...ils-emerge.html Many things can change in this environment.
  5. I don't see how the 5.0 can possibly be coming so soon without a peep of its production or job1 date. I sure wish it would hurry up...heck I might even be in the market.
  6. A very good improvement. And now with the dashes configured for SYNC it should be easy to upgrade them to SYNC2.0 and such, might just be a few new buttons and wires.
  7. That relates how? You have turets about the mondeo don't you?
  8. Not to mention it's often true that old, heavily used machines cost more to maintain than to buy new ones.
  9. Someone is in a reaal hurry to drop the kids off at practice.
  10. That blows! another great car loses a manual option. I saw a silver one at my local dealer. I think they look much better in pictures.
  11. Thank you, but that's nothing. My friend is pushing 450whp. The Ford 2.3 Turbo was one hell of an engine. (non-interference thank God)
  12. Good points, I'm sure that's why they chose the wankel. The RX8's motor is actually light enough that one person can pick it up, you'll throw your back out but you can do it. Take a single rotor setup of about .6L as you say, find a way to make it ultra efficient and they may be on to something.
  13. When using a series hybrid system, I would assume the most effective and reliable way to charge the battery would be to hold the engine at a constant rpm. The most efficient engines for this purpose are without question diesels (they are far and away the best engines for maintaining a "cruising speed"). I wonder how many people have taken a long hard look into this. Too bad federal regulations would probably kill the idea anyway.
  14. I bought my first gen explorer for $350, most fun I've had off road. It had crappy ground clearance but other than that it held its own. They came optional with Dana 35 fronts and massive Ford rear units.
  15. Oh no... look out, P might remind you that the panther is more profitable than the F150 and Mustang combined...
  16. I wouldn't say very little engineering sophistication. It is often FAR harder to engineer a design to a low price point than create an all out no limit design. Not to mention that price point still includes a tough V8, light weight, 4 seats, an iconic style, good handling, and everything else that makes a Mustang America's car. Bring it on Camaro. PS Notice the base Camaro has DI - I'm guessing 25k for a v6 model: so maybe we should compare v6 Camaro and GT Mustang...or we could wait and see how they match up
  17. There's his logic again... He can't prove his own point so it falls on us to disprove it. But just for shits and giggles.... Ford Press Release "Migration from current body-on-frame to unibody construction, reducing weight and delivering superior driving dynamics" "A weight reduction of 150 pounds for the V-6 version" There, now take your silly kindergarten logic somewhere else and learn to prove what you state.
  18. I'll jump into this complex debate. This ongoing arguement is going to forever be a subject in our country's courts. A good friend of mine was on national news about 8 or 9 years back when he accidentally shot his younger brother while he was cleaning his hunting rifle. My friend was carrying a legal gun and his father was in the room and so forth. Accidents happen, they always will. I say buy a dog and an alarm system, but thats just me. I own a shotgun that my brother gave to me and my roommate owns two 40 calibur handguns. Each one is locked away and the ammo is in places that only we know. Does it make me feel safer, sometimes, but once again...for just about everyone a dog or an alarm will suffice. But I still feel people should be allowed to own these guns if they choose, as has been repeatedly pointed out they can save your loved ones; just remember that if not used properly they can kill them as well. Not sure if I added anything to this debate, just thowing out some food for thought...I didn't feel like reading 12 pages of bickering by groups of people who will not budge an inch either way.
  19. I don't know, I would think many parts would need to be different. Plus you might end up with a platform that has so many compromises that it is meerly ok at everything and not good at anything.
  20. I think Hyundai is rapidly improving and will soon be a major player in almost every automotive field. Plus, the Genesis Coupe certainly isn't a bad looking car.
  21. It's true that a unit body crossover could replace a BOF vehicle in almost every sense except heavy towing or nasty off-road situations. I just hope whatever platform they put it on keeps the upright, capable look and comes with AWD or RWD on base models because otherwise its just another Taurus X. And I hope the weight decrease is significant enough to warrant the switch for FE. As I said before: I thought the Range Rover was a hybrid unibody/BOF construction.
