  1. I can attest to this....out of ownership of 18 Ford vehicles that hardly ever saw the inside of a shop, the most unreliable and infurating to own are the last two: 2012 Focus and 2013 Escape.
  2. Mine has the same issue and has been in 3 times for this without a solution. Now it's being blamed on the roof rails (which I have taken off the cross bars already). Wind noise is above average on this vehicle, especially compared to my 2010 Fusion. Funny that they tout they went through all the effort with wind isolation, test dummies, insulated pillars, special mirror gaskets, blah blah blah.
  3. Only way to get the advertised MPG in these vehicles is run it between 60-65 MPH. Anything more than that and these things really drop off. This is one of the first vehicles I struggle with hitting the highway rating in all but the most ideal conditions, and I run between 60-65 MPH. These EcoBoosts are a little overhyped in respect to MPG, as if you go to fuelly.com, you can see the overall MPG of the 2012 model matches the overall of 2013 vehicles registered there. http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/escape
  4. I have all of these and a laundry list of my own that cannot be resolved by Ford over a 5 month period. They replaced my review mirror for the "sagging" after a few days. It's been good for about 4 months, now it's doing it again. The door handle unlock is wildly inconsistent, had the same issue on the Focus with passive entry. They did the TSB on my fuel gauge, still only takes 12.5 gallons at the most when the low fuel light comes on. MFT issues, specifically the A/C indicator discrepancy and the rear camera lines turning them self of have been confirmed as an issue but they don't have a fix for them. I also have noticed the carpet and floormats wearing/pilling starting at 10K miles, very cheap. Overall, this vehicle is poorly engineered in many areas, with a few bright spots that don't make up for it's shortcomings. Disappointing for a vehicle that costs around 35K.
  5. We just got one in that has a different exhaust tip (this was on a 2.0L SEL, but don't think trim makes a difference). It has the non-rolled, cut at a 45 degree angle tip, looks less premium and a cost cutting measure. Also, probably to cut down on people complaing about the "dirty" exhaust tips (carbon buildup, which is typical of a DI engine), since the "pipe in pipe" comes farther out than the bottom cut portion of the bright tip, thus letting the carbon and water clear it and hit the ground and not the tip. Don't know why they would make this change so late in the 13 model year instead of a 14 change and end up pissing off customers that like the look of the old "rolled" tips. Yea, meant to take a picture but forgot.
  6. Especially when the owner's manual says it has a low washer fluid indication
  7. Weird that they are putting a 1.5 EB in this, while still retaining the 1.6 for the manual only. This is the first that I have heard of a 1.5 EB. Suprised they didn't delete the manual over the whole thing, but disappointed they didn't open up the manual to more options. Also, they should of put HID lamps in at least the Titanium, they have had a model year to figure this out. Good to see heated steering wheel and cooled seats, you don't have to pay 40K+ for those kind of features.
  8. It still only takes 12.5 gallons or less after this update, only thing that has changed is the light comes on at 35 DTE instead of random DTE numbers. The tank is way to small to begin with and it's just too quick and DTE is inaccurate when it starts going empty. Poor engineering.
  9. Be careful with the Ultra Gauge if you leave it plugged in to the OBD port all the time. I bought one for my 2012 Focus, and prompltly returned it after it drained the car battery overnight. At that time everyone stated an issue with it keeping the Focus electronics active, which drained the battery. Ultra Gauge then came out with a statement that it was not compatible with the 2012 Focus. I would think the Escape would be the same since it uses Focus electronics.
  10. I have seen the quality differences between the old Ford/Clarion nav system backup camera (on your old MKZ) and the MyFord touch backup camera. I had a 2010 Fusion Sport, and when I bought the first vehicle with MyFord touch it was much blurrier picture, probably lower grade cameras.
  11. You have to be a "select" dealer to do this, which "select" is one of the standings the dealership has with Ford. I have bought several vehicles with locked in rebates that were better at the time of order than the time of delivery.
  12. The dumbing down of the Titanium trim level and less choice for the customers is the trend on both the Focus and Escape now. No new features like radar cruise control or LED tail lamps. I like my cloth/leather Titanium seats, I am sure the price has increased for less content when compared to a 2013. Yawn.
  13. The low fluid message does not work as indicated in the owners manual. Reported to Ford with no answer. They had the same trouble on the 2012 Focus.
  14. The items that the OP posted is one of the reasons revolving around customer service that I am considering buying something other than a Ford after driving a Ford my entire life. Even a company like Dodge has a system where when your order is input, Dodge emails you thanking you for your order with a confirmation of your vehicle and options. Then at each status change of the vehicle, it emails you an update. There is no excuse for the dealer allocation issue on "sold" orders, penalizing small dealers and it's customers, and also no excuse this day and age to not have some sort of tracking system for cutomers on ordered vehicles. The thing is both these items are so screwed up with order delays, etc. it would begin to show cracks in their system. johndeerefarmer, you hit the nail on the head and I couldn't agree with you more. Unitil they decide to change their customer service practices and business models, they will continue to lose loyal "bleed Ford blue" customers such as us. It's really a shame.
  15. I have heard of other complaints of this, and it was found to be a leaking valve cover gasket or leak from the turbocharger. I would get it checked out and make sure they inspect the engine thouroughly with the engine cover off.
  16. It's BS customers have to even worry about this. It's a SOLD vehicle and Ford playing games with dealers that in affect penalizes customers with longer wait times when dealing with smaller dealers is BS.
  17. It's for the adaptive cruise radar module. It's in the same place on the Fusion, where this area is blocked off when you order that option.
  18. They make at most a few dollar profit on oil changes, and usually lose money on oil changes when doing advertised specials or coupons. They hope to make it back during inspection of other items the vehicle might need while it is there for the oil change.
  19. TSB 13-02-01 as I posted above. There is a procedure that has been published.
  20. This is not an MFT update that can be done via USB. This is a instrument cluster update that can only be done by dealership through the OBD port.
  21. So true, tough spot the dealers are in becuase they have to take the brunt of this being the "face" of Ford. Thanks for your transparancy and information.
  22. Nice vehicle, the rims look like they were lifted from the Edge Sport, with a different finish.
  23. No, early as in 12.5 gallon fill when the low fuel light comes on. TSB 13-02-01, dealer can easily look this up by running your VIN.
  24. There is a TSB that just came out for the fuel gauge reading low fuel early and the light coming on early, as well as inconsistant DTE display. It updates the instrument cluster module, which in turn will update to this newer 4 quadrant display. So go complain about the fuel gauge/light problem and you will get the newer readouts.
  25. This is just in regards to restarting timeout if the IA key is not in the vehicle.
