  1. I've often felt the same way but consider for a moment a salesman's place in the food chain. It's kind of like expecting a realtor to have a comprehensive understanding of home construction and although they may have some knowledge I would wager it to be limited. I know my dealership has gotten better but it used to piss me off that they didn't have a basic understanding of options for a vehicle I might be looking at. As an engineer at a medical device manufacturer and all that accompanies my duties I found it frustrating a salesman would approach me in the parking lot snuffing out a cigarette after standing out front smoking all morning and he wouldn't know squat. I used to think to myself "Christ, what else do you have to do all day other than bone-up on the cars your selling"!
  2. I too am a long time Ford Man and I ordered mine the 15th of December. I've been patient this far and would recommend you trying to be a little more patient as well. I have very high expectations for this car. We're not talking about a Fiesta here and they surely want this to land perfect aside from the delay launch. I gained experience in patience waiting for nearly two years for my 07 GT500. I understand wanting to see it, touch it, and drive it; I'm right there with you. I learned with my GT500 that it doesn't take a lot to frustrate a salesman and to actually know more than they do. It was that way with the Shelby and again when I sat down to order the new Z and my salesman is 30 years in the business of selling Fords. Blue Oval News is where I get my Ford and all auto information exclusively. There are a ton of people here that seem to have incredible Ford and industry knowledge so check back here often. I do daily to the point that my wife calls BON my Facebook as I don't have a Facebook account. My affiliation with BON has made me look like an automotive genius to the people I work with. They've gotten to the point where they ask me everything concerning a new automobile. Please be a little more patient and sorry for the sales pitch about BON. I have no vested interest here and I'm simply a member like you are now... Welcome to the community.
  3. That's a lot more reasonable than expecting sales to double.
  4. Yea, it's just too bad that everybody is "looking to win the lottery" in this society. These people bought these cars and lead-foot the shit out of them and mileage isn't what it is billed and the next thing you know is people start figuring a way out of their payment. Seriously, all the manufacturer's need to say in their advertising "MPG capable of XX miles per gallon"!!! Then add the disclaimer of depending on driving habits.
  5. Yea, I too am interested in hearing more regarding what problems. I ordered one on the 15th of December.
  6. I won't argue that, those may be lofty projections but I guess what I'm saying is that even if they fall short of that I'm not convinced it's time to write their obituary.
  7. Spot on; but the current lineup is nowhere near the final lineup. We have two more years to go and the MKZ is not product-representative either as it was already in its final design phases by the time the allocated Lincoln design team was put in place. Guys, we still don't have enough definition to start the arrangemnents for Lincoln's funeral. We started hearing rumbles of Lincoln's turnaround failure as recent as the MKS / MKT Mid-cycle refresh full well knowing that was nowhere near what Lincoln would look like in a few years and its only accelerated by some since the 13 MKZ. I still say the allotted time is needed before making our final judgment.
  8. You have my prayers this Christmas for you and your family. I hope all is well for you and yours, there'll be time to bicker another day.
  9. I don't think I could've said it better---Well put! And Happy Holidays to all...
  10. I've turned my ignition key on with the Tender in place several times and have yet to experience any adverse effects. My battery is going on 6 years old in my GT500 and have not had any electrical issues either during this time frame.
  11. My daily driver for almost the last 10 years. My 03 Lincoln LS has been without doubt the finest automobile I've ever owned. The only thing I've had to do to her aside from routine maintenance has been to put a throttle body on her this past spring. I still love the way it drives and the only reason I've ordered a new MKZ is because I'm a techie. What a great car it's been.
  12. I would think that one would turn the ignition forward in order to move the shift lever if we're talking about an automatic. I don't think I'd worry about unhooking the battery tender if it we're me but perhaps others have more informed advice than myself.
  13. Yea, I'll bet you're right. My dealer told me that Lincoln would be sending me updates as well as sending it to the dealer so I'll guess we'll see if that plays out.
  14. Good news indeed. Like I've said before, I don't expect to see mine before mid March as I just ordered a week ago (last Saturday).
  15. Both of you guys seemed to have thought of everything. I store my 07 GT500 in "The Bubble" and one doesn't cost anymore than a nice car cover. My garage is not heated but never sees below freezing as it's very well insulated and I've had no issues after storing 4 straight years in this fasion. The Bubble also serves as a nice vapor barrier while there is no cover lying on the car. I do try to start mine up at least twice over the winter and run the air conditioner during this time. As far ast the tires are concerned I too keep my tires inflated and they're flat spotted and thump for the first half to 3/4 of a mile an then it completely goes away in the spring when I get her out. No issues to date doing these things. Yes the battery tender is a must!
  16. Congratulations, I'm not that optimist for my car as I just ordered last Saturday!
  17. Correct, still plenty enough power to wrap my a$$ around a tree! When gas prices shot up in 2006 I permanently changed my driving style/habits which is one reason these reviews I've read are frustrating at best. I don't expect my daily driver comfort cruiser to behave as my GT500 does and I'm okay with that. I have the Shelby when I feel the need to "get after it"!
  18. Agreed, I'm buying the 3.7 AWD full well knowing there will be something in the Z that will knock its socks off for the 14 MY. That's the world we live in. I learned that when I bought my 07 GT500 that featured the most powerful Mustang ever built at 500hp. My how that was short lived.
  19. I get more information here on BON then my dealer could ever hope to know. BON has made me look like a buyer with an incredible crystal ball in the eyes of my dealer starting back with the GT500 in 06. I've encouraged them to visit BON for informational purposes but to no avail. Yesterday I updated them on the 1.6 EB recall and the headlight issue with the Fusion that has caused the delays. Last spring I educated them on the fact that the roof opened on the new Z as opposed to being fixed. Based on everything I hear and read here I still fully expect it will be mid March before I see my new Z.
  20. Plus, I'm banking on the fact that Lincoln will incentivize the 2013 since it will be a pretty short MY and news on the 14 MY will be coming out soon at one of the ensuing car shows.
  21. I'm not entirely convinced your price will change that much even with the additional miles given the status of used cars at this point in time.
  22. Correct, and to support your statement the upper end of the price range for the new MKZ clearly went up some and as it should.
  23. I truly believe there will be a powerplant that comes in North of the 3.7 for the 14' MY! I'm buying the 3.7 AWD and that's okay, I have the GT500 for those days I want to get after it!
  24. I'm with the belief that a lot of these European and Lexus cars on the road are purchased by people who are either attempting to make a statement or making up for other "short" comings if you will and they more than likely don't even know the performance numbers on their car. They probably don't even know it it's FWD or AWD. Clearly not all of those purchases fall into that category but I'll wager the percentage is staggering.
