  1. I would think the V10 would be the only option starting with 15's as the 5.4 is no longer used in anything else. For one thing this is going to keep ambulance companies very happy for at least the next 5 years or so. The question now becomes what will ever someday fully be capable of replacing the e-series!?
  2. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/04/ford-will-continue-e-series-cutawaychassis-cab.html Good news if you ask me as I had thought there were rumors we may only see stripped chassis continue, now if only they would still offer at least 1 van model.
  3. Good on Ford for being the only manufacturer out of GM and Dodge that builds all of their trucks in the US. Now if only they could bring 6.7 production here.
  4. What do they expect from a boring truck with a sub par interior and absolutely no powertrain innovation whatsoever?
  5. One thing that I did notice is the rear end appears to be a Dana 80 and not the Sterling 10.25 typically used in SRW SD's. Possibly meaning even more Diesel torque?

  7. Yes, but only with the 5 speed torqshift and not the 6 speed that started in 2011 in Super Duties. This is the first application of the V10 with the new transmission.
  8. This will be the first use of the V10 with the 6 Speed Torqshift, is this a precursor to the mighty V10 returning to the whole SD lineup? One would have to wonder.
  9. Disappointing that the 5.0 will not be offered, that would take it off the list for me. There are some of us that would rather a NA V8. I don't get why they don't just bring the Excursion back, it would cover this market with little upfront investment and would be even more profitable than the Expedition.
  10. The interesting thing for GM is that since they share bodies between the light and heavy duties they will not have the option that Ford has to keep the HD's steel.
  11. Kentucky, I wouldn't have taken the truck but I didn't realize it until a week or so after I started driving it. Whenever someone got in the back the doors never closed the first time and then I took a further look and realized it was because the doors were hitting. I won't put as much trust in Ford quality next time and will make sure the next truck I buy gets a thorough look over. One of the biggest problems with the new Super Duties is the misalignment of the front bumper which mine also had . Not my truck but this is what I am talking about http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f152/bumper-alignment-2012-f250-307782/ if you go to a dealer lot and look at the new SD's atleast half have horrible misalignment just like shown. Not so good when you are buying a 50-60K truck and the fit and finish sucks, paint quality has also gone downhill. My 02 F250 seemed like a much better built truck that had much better paint quality, fit and finish, and didn't rattle like a 20 year old escort driving down the road.
  12. I wouldn't worry about it, mine was built on a Wednesday and when I received it the Front and Rear Suicide door were touching each other due to misalignment. Ended up having to repaint both the front and rear passenger side doors.
  13. Soon to be released? It's been out for a bit. If anything based on sales it's a car that's soon to be discontinued. They couldn't sell this car at 30K and now expect a few years later for people to fork over 45K for the same car except even more bland.
  14. I think they finally saw Ram in the rear view mirror creeping up on #2, These new GM trucks have been a huge failure, the new 15 HD is not going to help either with its junk front suspension and unchanged power trains.
  15. I don't think too many fleets are going to be plowing with F150's, for any commercial plowing you would be insane not to get a HD. Currently the prices on Super Duties are not that far off from F150's, when I bought my SD in May I was within 1K of a similar option F150 (More if you consider the 6.2 in the 150 which I would have gone with). Now that the CAFE ratings are strict on light duties and much less stringent on HD's we may see HD's actually end up cheaper in a few years due to lighter more expensive materials not being needed.
  16. For me I would personally never buy a new truck in the middle of winter, who wants to buy a new car only to see it covered in salt for the next few months?
  17. Well that front grille is interesting for sure, I bet its just a junk bracket lift kit under there for the most part. Speaking of trucks like this, Why no Power Wagon competitor from Ford?
  18. GM doesn't use the 6.2 in the 2500 due to it being an aluminum block, still using the 6.0 (GM seems to think its a good idea to build two low production V8's). The HEMI 6.4 is used in the Ram HD's now though and has surpassed the 6.2.
  19. Where are you getting 75% from? Cars.com is not exactly the most reliable source for that kind of info. The numbers have been going the other way with diesels being dropped for gas, there is no disputing that. Latest info. I can find is 65% are diesels. http://www.businessfleet.com/channel/green-fleet/news/story/2010/03/ford-unveils-2011-super-duty-with-power-stroke-diesel-engine.aspx "Diesel engines account for 65 percent of Super Duty sales," said Doug Scott, Truck Group marketing manager. "Increased biodiesel compatibility is something many of our customers have been looking for."
  20. Last I remember reading was 40% gas take rate in the SD with that number continuing to climb every year as people move away from EPA diesels. I am sure Ford spent a ton developing the 6.7 so they probably don't want anything that gets similar MPG to it in the SD, performance wise an EB will threaten the 6.7 which still has plenty of room to grow.
  21. Yes a 7.0 Boss would be a perfect motor for common application across the whole line.
  22. The EB 3.5 cannot "replace" the 6.2 in SD's, while I guess maybe it could be offered I don't think it would gain much traction. I along with many people don't care if the EB gets better power and mpg's I still want a big NA V8 and won't take anything less. So while they could offer it there still needs to be a highly competitive V8 option offered. The people buying SD's to drive daily without much of a load in the bed ever ( there are still plenty) are not the kind to care about how many barrels of oil they just burned in my experience. The 6.8 is not offered in 350's, only 450 and 550 chassis.
  23. I believe the CAFE regulations for HD's are something along the lines of a 10% gain by 2020 ( Going by the mileage my truck gets that is right around a 1 MPG gain). So I don't think CAFE is really going to come in to play with HD's anytime soon, Thank God.
