  1. Interesting. OAC has been fully automated for over a year now. We have 0 painters and three paint repair guys per shift. I'm curious as to what plants have full automation and which plants still have the spray painters? thanks.
  2. Good PR I guess...but the article is complete fluff. No woman on the line gets to work 3 days a week simply because she has kids. Doesn't happen. Every request for our entitled vac pay up here is simply denied. Mullaly the teflon man is getting tiresome.
  3. No. Fords sales and market share are skyrocketing because they did not take a bailout. Relax dude. The future is bright..check out the products....
  4. Your view is irrelevant. Some of us uneducated grunts have quadrupled on our stocks with just a little foresight as to where the other 2 were going and Ford's future line up/prospects. Your UAW economist(s) have cost you billions, don't defend them..Fire the fuckers. Asshole.
  5. Your UAW economist is either absolutetly terrible or on the take and should be fired immediately.
  6. Ford has every right to expect concessions form 'retired salary' on par with what the unions have given up the last couple rounds. 'Retired salary' knows it is "the right thing to do" in order to keep Ford competitive. They may not like giving up a significant portion of their pension, but in the end why would they want to "kill the goose" that pays their gold plated pension. It's time for retired salary to put their money where their mouth is, and start campaigning Ford to slash their pensions. Same as the union keeps opening up legally binding contracts to help out the company. It would be "the right thing to do" Sir.
  7. Yeah, Try walking outside at lunch and watching brand new Windstar's one after the other being crushed due to an alleged default so the company can balance it's books. Nasser and the plant manager at the time were idiots. Ford has done a 180 degree turn around. It's obvious even from the factory floor. Good for Ford. Good for us.
  8. My post was a little over the top, However the guys at STAP are basically getting cornholed. There's no reason to take a shot at a dude who is trying to proactively stand up for himself and his local.
  9. Nice try. It's too bad you have apparentlly never stepped up and gotten involved in your communitty, coaching soccer, hockey etc..making connections with people who work for the town,Hydro or the Post office that will vouch for you as a stand up guy and get you a similar paying job..should the need arise. Just continue hiding in your basement snorting oxy contin and smoking dope and groveling before ford as they are the be all and end all to you. You don't need a trade. Learn tiling or laminate flooring for starters (It's not that hard). Some of us make the same in a weekend as we do in a week at Ford. If you are willing to roll up your sleeves and get to work you won't need to be such a pussy.
  10. Well this is frustrating, 2010 eco boosts were in shipping 2 weeks ago, with no holds afaik. Mkt's they are really taking their time with, being new. Word is they won't put us on mandatory 10 hr shifts until they get their conccessions from CAW. IDK ,it would be nice if we could get the dealers their high profit margin vehicles that seem to be in demand.
  11. OK, It's hypocritical of me to debate American politics..since that's what I was bitching about, You've got me on that. And I completely agree with your point about corporations. However, blaming your massive military budget on peaceful nations is pretty weak. Canada has about the same chance of being invaded as other countries of roughly similar population and defence spending....Australia,Italy,Spain etc...It's not happening. You're military spending is your own doing. At least point the blame/excuse at the middle east please.
  12. Well....I would debate you but...You haven't made your point. What is your taxpayer money protecting us from? What "battles" didn't we fight?
  13. Yeah, I guess. That's too bad.
  14. Toyota lost 6.8 billion in Q1, No unions no 'legacy costs'. What is part of their problem?
  15. Exactly. Open market in NA...basically closed market there...they can fk right off! However ignore the issue as always and proceed with the repub/dem flamewar. I swear you guys must be the most divdied nation on earth.
  16. +1 UAW and CAW need to stick togther and and not be conned into whipsawing.
  17. Just red x and delete if I've been asleep at the wheel here. I work at the opposite end of the plant as shipping, so don't have a look at too many finished vehicles,, they're units when i see them. I was looking over a few finished 2010 Edge's and noticed the red candy metallic is an additional $300 on Canadian orders and a $295 charge on American orders listed on the bill with the options. Dealers , is this new or old hat? Thanks.
  18. Do you guys have to turn everything into a repub/dem flame war. The rest of the world thinks your system of only having 2 parties is stupid. Your 2 party system leads to just going to war with each other, rather than actually getting anything accomplished..... This is great. Toyota is going down....just now realising their cars only appeal to the appliance buyer. From the wake up call to more attractive models is over 2 years away. They are behind the eight ball now. CHEERS!!!
  19. IMO, The very first thing you guys have to do is get a hold of your local chair and make damn sure your seniority date at Oakville is July 6 2009. This is important. When the Niagara Glass plant announced closing in 91 or 92 those guys got plant seniority from their closing date. People were hired at Oakville between Niagara's closing date and the time Niagara guys arrived, Niagara guys had higher plant seniority going forward. Precedent has been set (unless the Firestone dogfuckers from several years earlier set it..but that's another story..). Maybe 200 or so Niagara guys came and worked on shit jobs their last years to get the full pension that was owed to them. I see no reason why you guys can't do the same if jobs happen to open up. Maybe Ford is going to 8 or so flex plants in NA on three shift production? Maybe not, but guys if you happen to have 25 or so years DO NOT let some tier 2 guys get hired at Oakville between now and your closing date and SNAP YOU OFF..seriously, get on it and don't take no for an answer. Good luck.
  20. July 6. Production has been reduced from 480 per shift this week to 300 while the focus is on the MKT launch. we're building 30 to 40 MKT's per day while the launch teams go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Primary is that all the suppliers are right on spec, among other things. Other models continue on, just a little less production. MKT and total production will ramp up quickly in the next couple of weeks. Lot's of MKT's whizzing by around here and on the local roads, However it's hard to give a first hand impression of what they look like on the road as there is just so much transit film on the body right now. As an aside ( a dealer mentioned not being able to get enough Flex's in stock) I don't have numbers, but the % of Flex's being produced vs. Edge's seems to be up yet again for the third or fourth month in a row. I'd guesstimate we are getting up close to 40% Flex production. So I hope you will be getting your Flex's. I was looking over a Canadian ordered Flex outside the shop on Tuesday..2010 Ecoboost..sticker price 55k. Nice profit margin.
  21. Complete nonsense. Get out in the real world my friend...where everyone is saying FK the bailout companies. Your'e full of shit about the lots being 80-90% empty..fully and completely ,so stfu you ignorant sob. Everyone on here drives by dealerships and knows the real score. You are dissmissed.
  22. Nice try. Flex is catching on, sorry Chicago guy. And no you don't get it.
  23. Guys, Some of you seem to be falling for the company line a little here. Do you really believe the national union wants STAP closed down? OAC DOES NOT NEED TO BE SAVED at this time. STAP needs saving. They need a product extension or at the very least for the employees to be treated decently enough to at least know of the closing date. That's one of the many reasons I will be voting no to any concessions. If and/or when STAP is closed, It's a company decesion. If and/or when OAC is closed in 4-5 years it's a company decision. If we lose our jobs at one point or another that call is made in Detroit. The last thing I will do is try and point the finger at a fellow working stiff at some other local for obvious reasons.
