  1. Is this the reason that many of the clusters need to be changed? There is also a hold on the Limited units for suspect power steering. That electronic power steering is great, but after we have rolled them, some became inop, or the very least, difficult to turn. 120 units can be left in house or on the property by the 31st. These units on hold need to be secured with repairs and shipped.
  2. Why would I want to buy GM Stock when I already gave them money to bail them out? We will more than likely not get our money back say most economists. Now lets see . . . I'm to buy a GM vehicle that I've paid for with the bail out. . . buy stock in the company that I bailed out. . . what is the point? . . . How about this?.. . . . Let them give the american people each a $15K car and we will forgive their bail out.

:happy feet: Sure would be nice to have my week-ends back. :happy feet:
  4. :stats: If I had that problem, I would inquire of the Roll Test history where the vehicle was built. . . I know that the plant can pull up the vehicle history. . . Rolls Test history would tell if there had been a concern with the USB Port at the time of configuring the modules for that unit. . . . I have found running the F-150's, there have been times when the USB Port has given us problems being recognized during the test. (Not seating well into the port) Not enough to send a to someone, because an electrician will replace the thumb drive tester and we continue on. . . If the supplier is the same for all our vehicles, perhaps someone who has more authority than I, can have Ford investigate this issue. . . Surely, our customers need an advocate for there quality concerns. . .
  5. This is the same drama that has always gone on in Dearborn FOR A LONG TIME . . . This is what we deserve. . . We never elect people with intelligence and passion to help the membership. . . I hope those who voted for the personality and not the substance of the official are bitching. . . When officials back bite each other and are running a continuous campaign are not commited to the membership. . . You can feel the tension when shaking hands with them. . . Stop patting and shaking their hands!!! . . . Start telling them to work together and let us see that they can do their job under difficult curcumstances. . . God knows we have to on the shop floor. . . PLEASE
  6. DITTO . . . Your sooo on target!!!
  7. :shades: Well said . . . 'Stang'
  8. Your post is soooo correct . . . But don't be so harsh 'Stang' . . . Yes, you and I have seen the give backs at our expense over the years and I'm assuming that you knew of Gary and our local for sometime. . . Yes, the union leaders are like lawyers and yes, the membership are like sheep. That's why I said to 'liquid' the same thing. Our membership has been changing for quite sometime. . . There are new ones to this local who have the courage to make this union better. . . They are smart, intelligent, but just need good direction. . . Many of the ones who left with the Buy-outs could have helped, but many new ones arrived after they left. You know very well that none of the membership would want to work for $14 per hour. I'm sure it stings them to hear that salaried got some of their giveups, back. . . This new membership is now going to have to hire the new lawyers for the union and it begins with the new rank and file. . . It's a growing process and it starts in the plant.
  9. When I hired in, we were wined and dined and had promises made to us individuals to convince others to lean a certain way. . . People were hurt physically in rare cases that showed us to move in a certain direction. . . The UAW is a force!!! . . . Much has changed for the better, but the rank and file are still followers and will be for a time. . . Don't misunderstand me. There are some of you that are quite intelligent and could move into the ranks. . . Your posts have shown that you may be one that could move us in the right direction.
  10. I'm not sure if you were replying to my post or just confirming that Gary IS NOT the answer to our new struggles. . . I agree with you, that all the membership shouldn't vote for the UAW president, since corruption would come out of the walls. . . The "no concessions" that Gary was spouting was just for those of us who don't pay close attention to the direct issues. It was for the emotional, tho, I was one who supported "no concessions" in October, since I was aware of the financial stability of the company at the time. We have given back quite a bit over many years and when retirement is looming in my future, the younger ones were ready to let me eat cat food i.e. reduced health care for my end years. . . This industry usually gets hit every 10 or 20 years with downturns. It's important that you younger ones keep that in mind and should begin to prepare for your retirement now. What you are giving up for me now, will be what you will be fighting to get back later!!!
  11. Gary is the 'old school' union that I have spent years working around . . . I've said before, Bob King was my committeeman when I started and he too is 'old school', but was intelligent enough to make the necessary changes to help him advance along with some mentors that took him under their wing. . . I'm counting on some of the younger ones who have pride in their union and know the history that we older ones who fought for our way of life, come forward with intelligence and direction to take the union to strong, NEW highs and also have the sense that this new century is bringing challenges that we had never thought about 30 years ago. . . I know your out there, because some of the posts are thoughtful and understand the economy and corporate challenges. . . I would just suggest we stop beating each other up with hurtful words, just because our educational levels may be weaker/stronger than someone elses. . . Remember there are many different tools in a tool box. They each help an important part in building. . .
  12. Gary ran the ship once . . . Please, let's not go through that again . . .
  13. Gary couldn't handle be chairman of the DTP. . . The best position Gary was ever good at was a committeeman in the Trim department in the DAP. . . period
  14. :reading: That is the best advice for all of us to begin saving our money now!!! Have been reading the financials and many don't see any improvement in the economy for the near future and feel that it will be a solid 10 years before the economy will return to stability and will not be as strong as we have seen in the past. . . There will be some gains, but that will mislead many people. . . Ford will not want to give back and if the economy begins to tank while we are on strike, we will lose our leverage. :stats:
  15. If the F-150 went anywhere, it will go to Kentucky. . . They have the plant that can handle it. . . . We all knew at DTP, when we came from the DAP that the new plant was way too small for the truck . . . It has been proven many times. . . Many of us still believe that the Mustang should have never left Dearborn. . . Perhaps Ford may rethink that as the Mustang will have to relocate in the future. . .
  16. :happy feet: FINALLY!!! I mentioned earlier, that you need to find another dealer to do your service and not mention your current dearlerships service . . . You don't need to be blackballed. Keep it together when dealing with your current dealer if you have to keep them. . . Happy TRUCKING!!!
  17. Please try to curtail your anger at this dealership . . . If you can find another dealer that would service your vehicle in the future, it would be advised . . . I truly understand your frustration with this purchase, but be aware that the dealers have power over many of us and Ford Motor will not help unless there has been a history of complaints that will effect the market in your region . . . These dealers will 'blackball' you from all the other area dealers, which will result in giving you poor service in the future. . . Your experience is why some change to GM or some other company, but they too can have the same problems. . . If you decide to go to another dealer, please don't say anything bad about your current dealer . . . You will be labled a problem customer and by the time you begin speaking to higher ups at Ford, you will just be more angry and frustrated, because the dealer would have warned Ford about you. . . Dealers and Ford :stats: are not as close as some may think. . . Once you get your truck, you will be done with that sales department . . . Oh, they will call from time to time, but just be nice. . . Your future contact will be with Service Reps at the dealership and they can be a godsent in time of need. The Sales Reps just want the sale. Too bad for them, the next sale they make WILL NOT be from you. . . I too have a BAD Salesman who screwed with me on my Escape, but I truly have made friends with two great Service Reps who have helped me and my kids with service for their cars. . . When I met Alan Mulally at this dealership, I only spoke about these two Service Reps. . . He went and met them and both have been grateful to me since. . . Enjoy your ride and let us know when your on the road. :shades:
  18. I'm really sorry that your having this problem with MEDCO. . . Are you on retirement? If so, I may never retire. LOL Yeh, right. . . I've been with MEDCO since the inception with the UAW and have never had any problems with them, but have heard from my doctors office that others have had problems also, but the doctors office hasn't any problems with the MEDCO with my account. . . I'm sure going to be reading with interest what others comment on this subject.

    OAC News

It has been reported months ago that the economy will not recover for a minimum of 10 years. . . Even then, it will not be as strong as it had been. . . I would expect that as for the auto industry, the negotiations with the UAW that are coming up will have talk about freezing our retirement. . . Many large corporations had started that back in 2005. . . My suggestion for our younger workers with 20 years or less, should begin to take monetary preparations to secure your future on your own. . . Forget about Social Security. . . It won't be there!!!
  20. :happy feet: Great job 'woodhaven'!!! . . . Been following your post just as the customer has. . . I'm glad you have the resources to help. . . Mine have retired or died and now I'm beginning to build new sources. . . Hope you won't mind if I connect up with you in the future?
  21. Yep, employers who hire them . . . Breaking the Law . . . But how is illegal spelled? . . I . L . L . G . A . L . . . all of it is so wrong!!!
  22. We are not suppose to know that!!! . . . The union will not be notified until the details are worked out. . . 3 Crews have been a source of complaints for years and the company wants to address them, but had put them on the back burner until this economy is settled. . . That information, or any information that comes through private sources, is only to help us to PREPARE if needed, to make any transition. . . Many want names, dates, etc, but that won't happen. . . Example: During a downturn in the company and not having a lot of seniority, I was given info to put extra cash aside for what could or was going to be happening. . . That extra time helped my family and I go through a rough time. . . 3 shifts, 5 days is still on the table, but so are some other plans. . . 3 shift plants are always vaunlerable to changes. . . Was it Michigan Truck or Assemble that had gone through changes with 3 Crews in the past? . . . Was told sometime ago that an upgrade of the computer software was needed to handle the 3 shift plant, e.g. overtime equalization among other payroll problems. . . $100.000 upgrade. . . Hasn't happened and may never. . .
  23. :reading: Been on the site a number of times since the switch . . . enhancements are coming the two months mentioned on the site. . . Haven't had any problems. :shades:
  24. :happy feet: It's so good that those on layoff and running out of benefits will be given priority. . . If profits stay up and there is money to be given out, I want those who have struggled to get back to Ford. . .(I spent my first 9 yrs on and off layoff) I truly understand that transferring to another place is stressful for employee and family, but making money is what it is about. . . Though I've met a lot of transfers in the DTP over the last few years, some have adjusted great and are glad that they made the switch, but there are some who wish they never came. . . For me, who has been here the whole time in Dearborn with many of my friends who have gone, I'm glad that they ALL (transfers) came. I understand that some places in the plant my be crap, but having spent most of my time in the 100 year old Mustang Plant, many people would have turned around and gone back home. . . Good Luck in Chi Town!! It's a great city. . .
