  1. Easy fix....Move Mustang out to STAP and move MKZ and Milan into AAI since Mazda6 is already made there, the "flex" should be an easy one....this would free up room at Hermosillo for more Fusion production.
  2. Not sure why...I was always wondering why Ford never tried to have a Volvo built at one of the many plants Ford has in the US....with the platform sharing the Ford has going on with Volvo, I never understood why an S80 could not be built along side a Taurus, or the upcoming Explorer sharing a platform with an XC90...but, it will not be....Volvo will be gone. It will not challenge Fords market position now...but I fear a coming juggernaut from China in the automotive front as they keep buying seemingly disparate brands and soon the coalescence of these brands will form under a new power house Chinese auto giant as yet unseen.
  3. While I believe that Mr Mulallys' actions since he came on board at Ford have proven themselves as correct...I am on the fence on the issue of selling Volvo. I mean, if they are going to do it....get it completed and move forward. I look at safety innovations and see that Ford is debuting a new era in protection with an inflatable rear seat belt and no where was there any mention of Volvo...I see where Ford is trying to move to....be the safety leader in todays market place. Can they get there without Volvo?
  4. We'll see just how much of a market is left in the truly small truck realm when Mahindra hits the NA market with their offerings...until then, I have never really considered Ranger since the size is not right for me, but F150 is too damn big. F100 unibody on the other hand....hmmmmm
  5. just when you think it can't get any worse....Bob Lutz taps you on the shoulder....
  6. Ole Bob "Maximum Bob" Lutzs' new plan for Europe....bring a rear drive sedan from Australia and call it the Opel G8 GT :hysterical:
  7. LOL.....the only thing I can think of is, of course the tank is full.....when it is being towed by an F450 to the dealer bay to have tony fix it again ( ) it gets great mileage...and so does the Ford that is towing it....
  8. As he entered the vehicle, two ideas popped into my mind....Formal roof line, and six inch stretch.
  9. I don't believe Ford will abandon the Econoline name... I see possibly the cargo and stripped chassis versions to be called Econoline and maybe...just maybe....the upmarket passenger versions called Transit.
  10. This is going to spell trouble for Ford and the UAW down the road....I understand the rank and file concerns but at the same time I have to wonder if they (the rank and file) got caught in a "perfect storm" of misleading information by opposing factions within the UAW. I will go on record (again) as a staunch supporter of Unions, but I fear that this defeat is a harbinger of bad tidings for Ford and her unionized workers. I am an outsider of FoMoCo so I cannot comment on internal actions found within the "employees section" of BON, but I am a proud member of a Union...I am concerned.
  11. Well...OK then...didn't see that....carry on with your normal programming...
  12. Wiz....are you sure? If the story and pictures are from 2008, there would be no way Ford would have let the then unrevealed 2009 F150 be caught without any camo.....
  13. I saw that article as well...I wondered why they didn't sue the company that built the house? They (the contractors) were the ones that chintz'ed on the drywall...I have said it over and over and over.....you get what you pay for. Anyway....my Fusion stops as new and I am extremely pleased. I didn't have time tonight but my next job is to change the front wheel bearings as one is starting to growl a little....I am changing both at the same time since I believe that a properly maintained car will give you years of trouble free service....Timkin bearings right from Ford...priced reasonably well...but they are the press in type so I have to pull apart the spindles to get at them.....I have learned that the lesser expensive the bearing is, the more labor intensive it is to install it... :shades:
  14. Went shopping for some new front rotors and pads for my beloved Fusion... 78.5K and now is time for new brakes (not breaks...LOL) had the rears done by the dealership while it was in for an accident repair back in Feb. but the fronts were still ok...getting there...but OK at that time. Pads were down to under approx. 2/32's of material, overall..I am pleased with the way they held up. So, off the the auto parts stores I go...... Every last place only had Chinese made rotors from all the usual brands...you name it...Chinese...Raybestos, Wagner, Bendix, NAPA, even Motorcraft rotors were made in China...DAMN ...the dealer did however have a set of Ford O.E. rotors in stock but they were pricey....9E5Z-1125-A rotor assembly was about 30 dollars more per unit than anyone else (made in Mexico by Ford).....I bought them and put them on the car with a good set of Motorcraft (made in the USA) pads. I would have preferred USA made rotors too (or even Canadian made) but could not find anything at all. So...Mexican it is...ah well, my car is made there too so.... Very frustrating day, but the repair was easy as heck and car stops like it should...no shudders, no shakes, no drama..... Demand better people.....there are thousands of Americans losing their jobs since everyone wants to chintz on parts....I had Chinese rotors once before on an older used car of mine...pure crap! Nothing but problems! Never again! I took them off and found a set of Canadian made rotors...but alas, it would seem that even those options are dwindling.
  15. F150 Platinum and King Ranch pretty much cover that market...the funny thing about your statement is if Ford had continued to bring the Mark LT to market in the USA....they would have been derided for it's lack of distinction from F150.....hell, if you want one bad enough....get a Platinum and just order the grille from the mexican LT....looks to be a direct fit.
  16. Grand Marquis 6" stretch Those dang Saudis....they get all the fun cars....
  17. My "dream" Ford would be a Ridgeline-esque vehicle with a 2.5L EcoBoost motor in it. It needs to get 25-30MPG and it needs to tow 2500 lbs. 4 foot bed, lockable bed storage....something styled along the Flex lines....
  18. Ya know..I read that article and came away with a sense that Fiat is not going to kill the division (Dodge) but will rightfully euthanize several of its poorest performers...Sebring, Avenger, and Nitro to name a few....all are out of step with today' marketplace and need to be scrapped....I see several Fiat built cars under that Dodge banner...but as for Fiat itself? Not a large rollout...not yet.
