  1. Yes, I know, another hate piece from TTAC, but this one makes you proud to be an American (if it doesn't, GTFO!) http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/10/this-day-in-automotive-history-model-t-assembly-line-starts-for-first-time-october-7-1913/ EDIT: This is the first MODEL T assembly line.
  2. Bull. The ride is very choppy and the car gets unsettled while going over bumps, etc. I drove my roommate's Mustang into work one day and the ride was absolutely annoying. The ride in my Ram is far better. Every little bump made the car bounce.
  3. IR needs to get him a Taurus....or something other than Ford. He is having nothing but problems and very poor mileage out of his Escape (which doesn't surprise me).
  4. Funny, when it's a GM platform, you have to prove that it IS making money. When it's a Ford platform you have to prove it ISN'T making money. Gotta love it.
  5. That is an amazingly weak argument and really shows how far people will reach to defend this imitation luxury brand. Taking the whole one is a Fusion based sedan and one is an Escape based SUV out of the equation, what is going to be so different with the MKC that we cannot judge the performance of the Lincoln Horseless Carriage company on the performance of the MKZ? The fact is, Lincoln has been in its "rebirth" since the introduction of the MKS or even the MKX. The MKX as the first new Lincoln vehicle in years but the MKS debuted the Pontiac-ish styling that hey are still using today for some reason. Lincoln may not be dead yet, but they're sitting in the hospital and the doctors are not doing a thing.
  6. Do you have a link to those articles or posts? I'd like to read them .
  7. I'm sure they have something. But I bet the list of federal regulations for automobiles os so long (far too long really) that we would be shocked.
  8. I blame the runny nosed programmer that was updating his facebook page and forgot that line of code. But yeah, you would think when the first one had it's door opened someone would have noticed. I hate all chimes though and maybe they were enjoying the quietness. I know when my headlights are on, I know when my key is in the ignition, I know when my seat belt is not on, I know when my door open. Jeremy Clarkson had a great segment on all the chimes in cars these days,. It's absolute madness. This 'recall' is along the same lines as when an airbag sticker is mis-printed or a portion of the owners manual is wrong.
  9. Yet another stupid recall because of senseless government regulation. Seriously, if you don't know that a door is not closed properly, you shouldn't be driving. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/10/04/ford-recall-focus-ev-c-max-door-chime/ It's very scary though how many recalls are being fixed by software updates these days. Not good.
  10. Eh, the Fusion is nothing special. It's not offensive but it's certainly not the best looking car or even a very pretty car. The front is fairly strong but it quickly becomes watered down once past the copied grille. My opinion though. As for the Taurus, I wouldn't really call it slab sided. Your Edge is slab sided, The Taurus has all sorts of silly side accents that really make it look goofy. The crease that turns down right before the rear tail light, the random crease in the fuel door, the odd crease in the doors etc. And my point about the Aztek was despite the assertion being made that the Fusion/Focus/Escape are selling because of styling, it's possible that people are buying those vehicles despite the styling...maybe due to features, gadgets, etc. Kinda like people bought the Aztek because of some other thing other than styling. Man you people read way too far into people posts.
  11. Yeah, amazing what a computer tune can do. The SHO makes 365HP on premium and 355 on regular...or at least it did when it came out. Who has said it's "worlds ahead"?
  12. I'd just get a DEF delete kit and get rid of that stupid government nonsense and enjoy the increase in MPGs.
  13. Bwhahahahahahahahahahahaha! Yeah, no. That makes no sense at all. I had a Taurus SHO with the proper Yamaha engine and that never saw a drop of premium while I owned it...but it was recommended. And it's funny that the new Taurus SHO has premium recommended to get 365 HP yet the same exact engine in the truck doesn't. Regardless of fuel type, GMs 6.2L V8 gets 1 mpg less than Ford's 3.5 V6 while being far more powerful and more capable. Frankly, gear heads everywhere should rejoice that you can indeed get great gas mileage out of a V8 while not having to resort to tiny little squirrel engines to achieve somewhat decent numbers.
  14. Nice to see this failed POS get the send off every one of them deserve. TESLA is a joke just like all of these POS 'green' vehicles.
  15. Awesome numbers. Only 1 MPG off the 3.5 V6 Ford uses but makes far more power and can tow a lot more. All while being a fairly simple engine without all sorts of complication.
  16. Styling is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think the Taurus is a design disaster (on the sides) and the Fusion/Escape/Focus leave a lot to be desired.
  17. What a concept. You're posts were very concise and clear. They were not hard to understand.
  18. There is a 6.2 L V8 with more HP (420) more torque (460), a higher tow rating (12,000 pounds) that gets 21 MPG. A 6.2 V8 that gets 1 less MPG than a 3.5 V6.
  19. Ranger, until Ford gets an automatic free pass and nothing but blind praise from any of the vehicle reviewing outlets, these people will assert that all of the magazines, etc are the worst and out to get Ford. They are not journalists, they are not reviewing cars for a living, they are not doing anything related to reviewing automobiles, yet, sit them behind a computer screen and give them a keyboard, and they will tell you how all of the review outlets are the 'worst' and not worth the paper they're printed on.
  20. It's called styling. Ford is using some of it on the Taurus and Fusion and Escape and Focus. The Edge is decent enough (no actual styling though, just some slaps of metal on the sides) but looks shorter and taller compared to the Venza.
  21. Awesome news. Their new trucks are king of the hill (or are sharing it with the Dodge trucks) at the moment. Love to see automakers that have supply issues because of demand rather than lack of demand.
  22. Sorry, I forgot my blind hate for anything Toyota. This is not a bad looking vehicle...it's quite nice.
  23. I have no problem with CR not recommending an engine that is nearly killing people. That is the responsible thing to do. Why it's taken so long to figure out is unacceptable. Why it wasn't discovered during testing is puzzling too. I guess it never rained at the race track or while pulling logs. This should have been a 2011 model year issue only. Not dragged on and on for 2-3 years. 2/5
