I've always wondered that. He's seen the 2018 Mustang too according to a post he made about 4(?) months ago. I'm guessing he works in the area and knows people.

I know they're being shipped, a few of the temporary holding lots by me were previously filled only with Raptors are now starting to empty, and I've seen quite a few on trucks heading to wherever they're heading. Ok to buy has been given also.

Well EcoSport was debuted at LA, so it will definitely have a display at NAIAS.

My guess is it wasn't labeled an inverted delta part meaning it's not critical and thus not going to stop the line if it's not installed. Someone failed to cross that "t" when they were mapping the job layouts. I guarantee that has been fixed since they discovered the fault. If it's a new part all together that wasn't part of the old model, or on a different station/line, and the line operator and/or hi-lo driver weren't instructed that the part was supposed to be there, I can see it happening. I'm guessing they noticed they weren't there when either a) the part just suddenly appeared on the line one day (plausible) or b) someone did inventory in the material handling department and noticed there was a massive surplus of this part and alerted management (more likely)

The door latches is a supplier problem, they aren't being built to spec, and there's a lot of finger pointing going on as to why it's happening. The SD fuel tank bracket problem sounds like the part wasn't being delivered to the line and since it's a new model, nobody knew it was missing. I'm very surprised this wasn't caught in plant before any of these even left the property since they were early builds.

ok then maybe the DCT is electronic, but the 6F the 1.0 uses is definitely mechanical, it's virtually identical to what the Fusion uses (pre dial-a-gear shifter).

nope, there's a cable that attaches to a 'switch' of sorts on the transmission that selects the gear. Pretty sure it's the same for all 6R and 6F transmissions, except for maybe the new fusion with the rotary dial. Unsure about the 10R transmission, haven't seen one in person yet.

I tend to agree. While I still don't see the necessity of making it electronically controlled, a push button is a better solution than the stupid rotary dial.

FWIW, F-150 (6-speed, not sure about 10-speed) Fusion (pre-2017), Focus (Both DCT and 6f transmissions) and Mustang automatic transmissions still have mechanical linkages.

Or here's a better idea Stop trying to fix what's broken! Why do electronic shifters all of a sudden need to be in everything when these kinds of things didn't happen with mechanical linkages?
