  5. I don't think we need to wait for a convention..... If I remember correctly, we were told that .5 hour was to shore-up the strike fund to show the auto companies we mean business. Well we mean business alright........... and now that we didn't strike...........and we don't need to put the money in there as fast.............   6. Government is owned buy big business. When money became "free speech" the people we elect became lobbyist for business. We vote them in, but don't have enough money to get them to vote for things that will help the middle class........... and when the oil export bill goes threw, we will be spending more on gas at the pump.   7. The IUAW decided to raise our dues to 2.5 hours to increase our strike fund. Now that we didn't go on strike, I'm waiting for it to go back to 2 hours. When do you think that will happen?...... ha
  8. Wrong.......... To start with, Skilled didn't pass GM contract because they were going to cut trade classifications and combine the rest, (had nothing to do with buy-outs)..... That's why trades turned it down. Estrada ( Union side) said it was economic issue and wanted to Throw trade vote out.......... Williams stop her, they looked at it for about a week, didn't "toss" as many trades down the toilet and did exactly the same thing.... Patting themselves on the back for FIXING IT........ Trades was looking out for themselves, because with combined trades there will be a layoff...... and when The Union got to Ford, they pulled combining of TRADES out of the contract............The issue at GM now is that "production" has now voted on a Skilled Trade issue, and passed the contract. GM will combine Trades and have a Trade layoff, and you will never see it in the paper..........

  15. Production now has the right to decide Skill Trade issues. If Skilled turns down a contract because of a Trade issue and production gets what they want, NO SOUP FOR YOU..........They can VOTE you out of a job..............

  17. Thanks.............. I have been preaching about the Life Income Benefit for a LONG TIME........... We gave up so much, and many of us are standing at the door during this contract to retire. All the monies that we have given to the company, to save above water, during that time will be for nothing if we don't get SOMETHING back if we retire during this contract. You are so right when you say a 3% raise will not get a yes vote........... If $4 - $6 was added to LIB it would have a better chance..........
  18. We voted NO in 1976 and those jobs stayed.............. Ya, I know, different times, right.............. but it's different times for everyone............. you got to do what you got to do...... Everyone thinks "tier 2" got a big raise and a 401k bump, we should vote YES,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well, legacy got less then $2 for 10-12 year wage freeze and nothing on their Life Income Benefit....... NO IS THE WAY TO GO...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Good job Decker.............. As you can see from this............ Lots of money involved and that's not all............
  22. Dayshift...........I did just that for a 10 year period......... check here for my other postings........... Just $1 comes to $23,000 with 500 hours of OT.......... Know one can say who big a raise or what COLA would have been but I'm sure it would be more then "a buck",,,,,,,,, for a 12 year period and using $1 it would be over $27,000.......... Remember that's $1 and nothing else.........
  23. Last increase was $2.65 in 2007............. Before that there were years where it has increased $4.00 (in the good old days)............ So the increase is based on nothing more then what the bargaining team can get the company to agree upon............. But they do have to ask for an increase, the company won't volunteer to pay more because in goes against their profit. If you retire before 62, you get somewhere around $3100 a month........... When you become 62 the company drops the $3100 and factors in your LIB x years of service to get your monthly retirement pay.............. That with your SS check is what you then receive for your income monthly.......... OOPS............ Forgot something............... If you get a raise in your hourly rate, you may get a raise in your LIB, although it would be smaller then stated above Took 2 edits say say this?????? Ouch............. hehehaha
