  1. That's a selling point. Automakers know that in marketing full size pickup trucks, excess is attractive to the mostly male, high income, status seeking customers they want. This was mentioned in a July 2021 article of Consumer Reports. The Hidden Danger of BIG Trucks - Consumer Reports
  2. Toyota Tundra's biggest strengths are. Assembled in Texas Most reliable full size pickup truck on the market The redesign for 2022 model year keeps the 1st advantage. But it remains to be seen if Toyota can preserve the 2nd. When Toyota redesigned its Tacoma for 2016, its reliability rating went down.
  3. Thanks for the explanation bzcat sir. Sounds like Lordstown Motors is not a good acquisition candidate for any other automaker and will likely die soon and be forgotten.
  4. Yes sir fuzzymoomoo, I agree that F-150 Lightning is at the head of the class right now. My thought was with one of its competitors now effectively gone, Ford could buy that company's assets for cheap. For example, the assembly plant and its equipment in Lordstown, Ohio. If everything works out, having those assets could potentially help speed up Ford's own BEV development and manufacturing.
  5. This is what Ford is doing right. Giving its employees in suitable positions options regarding work location, including the option to work from home indefinitely. It's great that Ford is following Google, Twitter, and startups that have embraced telework. As mentioned earlier in this thread, it will help Ford attract the best talent, save money on facility costs, get more productivity from their employees, and reduce the company's environmental impact.
  6. Lordstown Motors told the SEC yesterday that it doesn't have any actual customer orders for its Endurance pickup truck. Looks like this may be the end for the company. Maybe Ford can pick up Lordstown Motors assets for pennies on the dollar and use them to help accelerate Ford's own BEV pickup truck development? Lordstown Motors backtracks, says it has no binding orders for electric truck - CNN
  7. Ford's decision to allow work from home indefinitely for suitable positions turned out to be very smart. Some other companies with employees that previously worked from home during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic and are now being required to work at a corporate site are losing some of those employees to competitors that embrace telework. 10. A liftback/fastback type BEV with styling elements from the Zephyr Reflection could bring Lincoln some newfound respect from customers in the U.S. and China.
  11. Thanks for the 2022 Honda Civic review from Motor Trend jcartwright99 sir. Regarding your question, no Honda Civic is not real competition for Ford Maverick. However, some Honda Civic customers who also want or need a pickup truck would be wise to consider Maverick as a supplement to their Civic. Honda's own Ridgeline is an option for these customers, but Ridgeline may be overkill both in terms of size and price for many of them. Maverick's compact size and lower price solves those issues.
  12. Black Label sir, of course sullynd will provide the definitive answer from his perspective. I did want to add that like sullynd, my wife and I ordered a Mustang Mach-E. Ours is still on hold and hasn't been delivered to the dealership yet. However, I have owned a Tesla Model S for a couple years and the superiority of BEV over ICE for performance, efficiency, smoothness, and the ability to easily "fuel" at home convinced my family to make our '19 Ford Ranger (which we use for our business) the last ICE powered car or truck we will ever own. I hope that a BEV Lincoln sedan is available in the U.S. market eventually. It it does materialize, that could be the car that replaces my Model S a decade or so from now.
  13. Yes sir joseodiaga4. Maybe Lincoln will import their BEV sedan from China to the U.S. someday.
  14. Unless Toyota has a surprise, Ford is ahead of Toyota in the BEV pickup race. Even if Toyota one ups Ford with ICE powered pickup trucks, Ford can give Toyota a beating with BEV pickups which is what really matters in the long run.
  15. J300 Land Cruiser's 3.5L engine is actually a 3.4L, 3444cc. Specifically, the V35A-FTS that's also used in the Lexus LS500. Currently, it's the most efficient non-hybrid V6 engine in the world, with 37% thermal efficiency. Amazing combination of power, fuel economy, and smoothness. If V35A-FTS does make it into the Tundra, expect a minimum 400 hp rating.

  17. Tesla's success since the introduction of Model S in 2012 indicates there is a lot of pent up demand for premium electric vehicles from an American company. Lincoln's announcement today, combined with Cadillac's BEV related announcements last year, makes me confident that the transition of those 2 brands to 100% electric vehicles will bring newfound respect to American luxury cars.

  21. Ford's software engineers did a great job with the programming for HF35. As you mentioned, the transitions from electric motor to gasoline engine are seamless, and the transmission's behavior in general is super smooth.
  22. Yes sir, HF35 is the designation for Ford's eCVT power split transmission. It is based on an Aisin design but is manufactured in-house by Ford at its Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Video by Professor Kelly at Weber State University about this transmission.
  23. Yes sir. Here is a video from Ford Europe explaining the issue. The video is from October 2020.

  25. I said "Kia Carnival has a lot of substance", which the Cars.com and Motor Trend reviews confirmed. The product itself is very good, other than some ugly SUV like exterior styling elements. And Motor Trend doesn't seem to mind those elements, as they think Carnival's interior styling and quality is the best among all minivans. What's terrible is "Kia’s smoke-and-mirrors attempt to call it anything other than a minivan" as Jennifer Geiger said. Kia Carnival customers who get past that nonsense should be very satisfied with the vehicle.
