  1. Well still the 2.3 7-speed will have more pick up and go than my current 5.0 Bronco. Still, the 2.7 HEV with 7-Speed would've been a for sure buy for me.
  2. Honestly a 7-speed mtx with a 2.7 Hybrid! What! IF THEY SOLD THAT... it would take everything for me NOT to buy one. I love my 94 Bronco but I often imagine it with a modern powertrain, especially when I’m averaging 9mpg (11 in the summer with the top off).
  3. Really guys? We all know better than to judge the design of the vehicle just off of vinyl wrapped spy shots, or at least should know better... Looking forward to the reveal! So the explorer is getting this pod screen in its dash and the Aviator is sticking with what everyone calls tablet style right?
  4. Talking to the Lincoln dealership here in SD about sales of the Continental and Navigator, he concluded that though customers LOVED the Continental, it was hard to move from lots because of its price point. He said "Once you start getting into $70k or $80k, customers start to look at other options and comparing the Continental to those often doesn't end well for the Lincoln." Not that it's not a nice vehicle but if you had $80k for a car, the Continental wouldn't be at the top of a lot of our list. He also said what everyone else has been saying about the Navigator, which is that they aren't getting a lot of them from Lincoln regardless of how many they want to order, but they ones they do get sell quick, some being sold before they even reach the dealer. I can personally attest to the fact that since the new Navigator has been on sale, I have only seen 2 on their lot and each siting was months in between each other.
  5. Give me this with an ecoboost 3.0 hybrid. 2020 Ford FortyNine
  6. It’s good to get people excited about possibilities I think. I love those concept cars. Yes it would be nice if they were built but a concept car is meant to show you what we can do in concept. Get people excited, and invested into what you can offer coming into the future even if it’s just an idea or a theme.
  7. My first car was a 1993 Ford probe gt. I loved that thing. Fun to drive, handles great, felt like Japanese vehicle actually in terms of steering feel, handling, power train, etc. The probe shared a lot with the Mazda MX 6. Anyway, I ran over a curb at high speed and effed my probe. Sold it, bought a white 1994 probe GT. Both of these were manual. Great cars, can have a lot of maintenance but not terrible, and lots of spaces to lay with the seats flat and the hatch open at a drive in.
  8. When I become a car designer, I am going to push for funding of real concept cars for auto shows. Only design for what can go into production stifles the ability to design with innovation in mind. It doesn’t negate it completely but when you can design with little to no limitations, innovation happens and can pulled down into production vehicles.
  9. Competing is the problem and what’s stalling growth. These charging networks and stations should work universally as does gas stations. They need to work together to build a charging network to support real growth in electric vehicle ownership.
  10. And adding the Mustang logo to the car fixes the issue the bolt has with “being a Chevy.” From a marketing stand point, it benefits Ford to attach the Mach1 in name and logo to something with a broad and greater heritage and appeal.
  11. For a base price? Maybe... But it all depends on who they are trying to reach, and the content.
  12. I like the Mach 1 name for this! I hope they keeped it despite public response. If it's as good as it can be, I don't think the public will take issue with the name.
  13. Anything more you can tell us about it? About the exterior/interior design? I'm going into auto design so that peaks my interest the most. From people that's seen it, they all say it looks amazing. I wish ownership in Ford stock came with sneak peaks! I'd be a happy investor. This will be performance oriented? and a 2020 model along with the Explorer and Escape? So we'll be seeing it fairly soon? I'm wondering if Ford will offer "Tesla-like" self-driving capabilities. That's a huge selling point for me when I think of owning this type of vehicle. $40k+ I'm expecting
  14. These people dont know what theyre talking about. They said Lincoln has only a single model thats not a guissed up Ford. Thats throwing dirt. Lincoln vehicles are unique in their own right. So what they share a platform, sometimes base powertrain, and important technology with some ford models. Yeah they have room for improvement in carving their own lane again but lets give credit when credit is due. This isnt a 1st gen MKZ/Fusion, Lincoln Mark LT/F150 situation happening at Lincoln. Theyve grown past that.
  15. That's what i was hoping to see at the LA show. I'm ready to trade my 01' Bullitt in for it! At least if it doesn't cost $50k or something crazy.
  16. Thank you for the welcome fordmantpw! I'll check that out 2b2!
  17. Good morning everyone! My name is Drew... I'm currently serving in the armed forces. I have been lurking on the site for awhile without an active account, that is until now so hello! I need some advice, opinion, inside info, whatever you may have to offer. My enlistment is ending fairly soon and I'm finishing up my BAS in Organizational Leadership BUT I plan on attending College for Creative Studies in Detroit to obtain another degree in Transportation Design. I also would like to enroll in the Professional Automotive Modeling Certificate Program during my tenure at CCS, with hopes that maybe I'll find a career in Clay Modeling. However I am concerned about not having a stable career in the automotive world. I do not know anyone who works in that field outside of factory workers so I have no idea what to expect. Are there any CCS grads here? Any of you work in or near the field of transportation design? Where do you see automotive design and clay modeling moving in the near future? Is a career in that industry volatile? How's the job market, pay, work environment, etc? As I said before I know nothing about that world so any information would be useful. I appreciate your time!
