  1. There’s a button in the regular tailgate handle that opens it. There’s a TFL video that shows how it works.
  2. I like that the whole tailgate can swing open or down. I think it has a limited weight capacity though so probably wouldn’t work as good on a full size. I personally will pass on any of these new tailgates the big three have made. $1000+ isn’t worth it to me. I was fine with ford’s $300 step in the old tailgate. But it’s good ford is offering something to rival the competition. Obviously there is a market for it.
  3. Both 12” screens now standard on all trims is nice. I hope that trend continues with other models. Tailgate is cool. I prefer the ridgeline’s design better, but this is far better than all the others. New front end is way better than before. Was hoping to see the rumored lobo. Nice refresh, just wish ford wouldn’t have let the cat out of the bag a month early.
  4. I always hated this idea. To be able to offer a subscription to heated seats, that means you now have to build every vehicle with seat warmers, which adds cost to the vehicle. I’m sure those costs get passed along to the customer in the form of higher msrp. So essentially, you are already paying for the heated seats, just not able to use them. I’m against subscriptions of any kind in a car, but if they are here to stay, they need to only be on software, and not on physical hardware.
  5. I generally like most of Hyundai and kia’s designs, but they always manage to throw one or two styling elements in that ruin the whole package.
  6. Flip the lever on the gas pump and it will pump your gas hands free too. Go inside and do what you need while it pumps. Still should only take you 5-10 minutes. No where near the 30 min it takes to charge an EV. I can’t recall ever stopping at a gas station for longer than 10 minutes, including gas, bathroom breaks, and getting snacks. I value my time more than others, so I go in to any trip with the mindset that I’m not stopping, and if I do, I’m spending the least amount of time there as possible. Time at my destination or at home with the family will always be more important than wasting time waiting for an EV to charge. Go to the bathroom before we leave. Bring drinks and snacks from home. Also, you are assuming that you can find an open charger. If you drive by any Costco gas station, you will see cars lined up waiting for gas. It’s only a couple of minutes per car at a gas pump, but how long would you be there if they were all EVs? You could be there all day.
  7. I’m intrigued by EVs, but I’m not switching until charging is fixed. Someone mentioned earlier they’d be happy with 15 min charge times. Not me. 5 min or less is what it will take for me to consider an EV. I do 6 hour round trips multiple times a year. I’m not trying to make it any longer than it has to be. I’m not one who can stop and smell the roses. Sitting at a charging station for 30 minutes would literally drive me insane ?.
  8. Not sure if this is true or not, but I read a story not too long ago that talked about Californians watering their lawns multiple times a week, up to every day of the week, in the middle of the drought. Water has been such a big issue there that I couldn’t believe it. Where I live, it’s two days a week, and when spring/summer rolls around, it’s down to one day.
  9. Yep, I don’t really understand the logic in creating this. Adding a trim based off rally cars which I have to imagine your average EV buyer (or any buyer for that matter) couldn’t care less about doesn’t make much sense. They probably would have made more money if they offered a “race stripe and fog light” package on the GT. If I had to guess, this will be gone by 2025 model year. I get where is comes from, doesn’t mean it looks good ?. And if you are going to have white wheels, you should at least have some white somewhere else in the vehicle to tie it all together. Edit: I think the white wheels would be much more palatable if the mach e was white with black stripes. Any color besides white would probably need white stripes to match the wheels.
  10. Ford must have found all these white wheels on a discount isle somewhere ?. Those are hideous and completely ruin the package.
  11. Edge seems to be selling fairly well and it’s older than dirt. Why couldn’t ford throw a new exterior and interior on it and call it a day? As long as it looks new and has the latest tech on the inside, it’d probably do well. Isn’t that essentially what Toyota has done with the Camry for years, and Nissan with the frontier?
  12. My small country dealer has 11 mach e’s sitting on the lot and 6 more in transit. Per cargurus.com I have 197 mach e’s within 50 miles of me. Of those, 20 have been sitting for 100+ days, 95 have been sitting for 50 or more days. For reference, here is the count of other ford models within 50 miles: 174 explorers 139 escapes 88 broncos 174 bronco sports 906 f150s
  13. It’s not removing anything, only making it optional. And there is a precedent because the bronco II was RWD. And really the bronco sport is the spiritual successor to the second gen escape anyways.
  14. Sure, not for every buyer, but the original plan for the escape and bronco sport was to have two entries in the same segment that catered to different buyers, while sharing parts to lower costs. Without the escape,is the bronco sport financially sustainable? The ev replacement will surely be on a different platform so it won’t help. I guess the maverick could fill the escapes role as it shares parts as well, but I still think dropping awd and thus the price 2-3k would bring in plenty of buyers to offset the loss of escape.
  15. I agree, but I’m trying to set the bar low so I’m pleasantly surprised ?
  16. You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment again with all this talk of 500-700+ hp engines. I’d guess this thing will have the same engines as the tremor, the 5.0 and the 3.5 turbo v6. It will be lowered like the article says, and then I’d guess body color panels, unique grille, maybe some fancy 21-22” wheels, and an interior with leather and suede inserts and some colored stitching. Slap a lobo sticker on the bed and theres your new trim.
  17. I’m fine with the escape going away, but the bronco sport needs some changes if it’s going to fill the gap. It needs an updated interior with better materials and a larger screen. Make awd optional on all but badlands trims. This should improve fuel economy which might improve cafe, and lower the price of entry, which would expand the potential pool of customers. I see big bend BS all the time, but I’ve never seen outer banks or badlands. At least in my area, it would seem that customers don’t see the value in the upper trims. It’s also missing several options that are found on the escape and its competitors. And I can’t talk about BS without mentioning this, make the 2.0 optional on all trims! Make a hybrid optional on all trims except badlands. If all of these changes were made, I could see the BS make it into the top 3 of its segment.
  18. Lincoln buyers aren’t exactly the youngest demographic. I’d expect most older buyers to be looking to downsize. There’s not a lot of need for 3 rows when your an empty nester. I also feel like only having 3 row SUVs really limits your market. How many people do you know that have multiple three row SUVs in their driveway? Probably no where near as many as those that have one 3 row and one 2 row, or those with 2 two rows suvs.
  19. For the average consumer, I think I like the ram box design better. Seems like it’s easier to just throw something in there and not worry about a peg board. I could see this on the pro line of trucks though. Good tool storage that makes everything easily accessible. The panel could fold down to act like a work table. It would be cool to have plugs on the inside of the compartment so you could be charging your tools/batteries while you drive too. That bed extender looks pretty cool too.
  20. I kept seeing the stories but always thought it was referring to the Mexican f150. I’m curious how this will play out? Will this be like the old school lightning? Maybe like the Harley Davidson? Or a much more simple package like FX2? I’d be happy with something similar to any of those.
  21. The automakers and politicians were the only ones who thought the transition to evs would be quick. I think the rest of us knew it would take quite a bit longer. I still think EVs are in their infancy. New battery technologies are only a few years away which could drastically change EVs. Knowing that people keep their vehicles between 8-12 years, why would I buy now? 300 mile range with 30 minute charges today or wait a few years and get twice the range with half the charge time? You don’t have to worry about that with ICE vehicles. They’ve been getting roughly the same mpg my entire life and of course the time to fill up hasn’t changed either.
  22. I really like this package. Ranger and bronco need this as well.
  23. I am in 100% agreement with you. I have no doubt that it will beat the majority of super cars out there. I think the branding is the issue here. Ford used mustang on the mach e because they thought it would improve its image. I think it does the opposite here. If this car can do what ford says it can do, then it deserves a more prestigious name than mustang. Think of it this way. Which name do you think other companies would use for their top of the line sports car? Audi - TT or R8 Toyota - 86 or Supra chevrolet - Camaro or corvette dodge - challenger or viper Honestly, I don’t really care either way, I’m just bored and here for the discussion ?. It’s a cool car for sure, I just think it could have been so much cooler as something else.
  24. The difference here is Porsche is a brand name and mustang is a model name. Ford chose to call it a mustang, and so it will be treated like one, regardless of how many Porsches or Ferraris it beats. We all think highly of the mustang because we are Ford fans, but to many people out there, the mustang is just a POS that they could car less about. They believe it would never be on the level of those other super cars. True or not, that is the perception.
