  1. I'd prefer a new name, too. This fashion of Ford to pick up entirely new cars and put names of old cars (Escort, Maverick, Bronco, Mach 1) do not please me one bit. It seems that lacks creativity to create a new name
  2. Replaces subcompact Brazilian Courierrename it Ranchero? Desperate to hold on to its truck primacy, Ford is working on a new compact pickup that could find its way into the U.S. product lineup by 2022. Ford is preparing to replace its aged Courier subcompact pickup truck, built in Brazil and based on a two-generation old Fiesta platform introduced in 1998. Sources familiar with Fords future product plan say the automaker is considering it for the U.S. market. It would slot below the Ford Ranger midsize pickup arriving in U.S. dealerships early next year, but would be bigger than the current Brazilian Courier. The European Union market has been buying larger vehicles in recent years, including pickup trucks, and so the Courier replacement will be built on the next-generation Focus platform, sources say. As a unibody pickup, it would have nothing like the profit margin of a Ford F-Series, or even the upcoming U.S. Ranger. It would, potentially, help Ford regain its lead in U.S. pickup sales, and secure the automakers truck bragging rights. Although the Ford F-Series is having a record sales year in the U.S., with 451,138 delivered in the first half of 2018a 4.9 percent increase over the first half of 2017General Motors has sold more pickup trucks overall. Sales of the Chevrolet Colorado jumped 38.9 percent for the same period, contributing to first-half GM pickup truck sales o 478,671, including Chevy Colorado and Silverado, and GMC Canyon and Sierra. While that lead of 27,533 for the first half of 18 could easily be overcome by Ranger sales next year, a smaller, compact Ford pickup would lock up the bragging rights if there is no GM response. Ford will introduce a new Focus for the EU and other market in 2019 to replace a model that has been on the market since 2012, though not for the U.S. North American production of that car initially was to move from the Michigan Wayne Assembly plant to make space for the new Rangers and upcoming Broncos production, first to Mexico, and then to China as President Trump sought to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Ford has since decided to cut the Focus sedan and hatchback from the U.S. market by next year. It will be replaced instead by a wagon/crossover slotting between the EcoSport and Escape, to target such models as the popular Subaru Crosstrek. That Focus-based compact Ford crossover is scheduled to make its debut here in the 2020 model year, and it will be built in the Cuautitlan, Mexico, assembly plant, replacing Fiesta hatchback and sedan production in that factory. So new Courier production would be a natural for that plant, as NAFTA protects truck production in Mexico and Canada from the 54-year-old Chicken Tax. Prospects for the compact Ford pickup coming to the U.S. market appears largely determined by tariffs and trade deals negotiated by the Trump administration in the next 24 months. Theres one other open question: Whether Ford would stick with the Courier name for the U.S. market. May we suggest another classic Ford name? Ranchero. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/ford-considers-compact-unibody-pickup-truck-u-s/
  3. How clever! Keep the Ka/figo on the same platform to suit the rules of the 4 meter that exempts taxes from India, favoring only India, but forgetting the other 124 countries that have the Ka/figo and complain about the size of the trunk (the smallest of the category in all 125 countries In which the Ka/fig operates. Ford really likes to lose market and seems to not connect by the fact that the Ka/figo is a success
  4. Ka is a car of world importance to Ford. Since 1997 he's global. It's in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa. It's remarkable how important its to Ford. I believe that the C2 platform could very well go to Ka MK5, since the Ka/fig is on a 10-year market platform. In 2021, the Ka platform will be 13 years old and will already be somewhat lagged in relation to the GM Onix/prism, which will use GEM platform, and VW Gol, whose platform is MQB-A0. The Ka was the second best-selling car in all of Latin America (2017). I think we should look with more care
  5. It is known that the C2 architecture is able to fit the dimensions of a Fiesta as well as an Edge. But would it be profitable for Ford to take C2 to compacts in emerging countries in 2021?
  6. Corsair is a good name. I think the choice may have been influenced by C of MKC. Ford could put hybrid versions derived from Focus 4
  7. Ford GT is Ford's current flagship. It's where it shows its greatest Ford technologies and performance capability in a Ford car, and also where Ford shows its automotive legacy and tradition. It's a name as respectable as Mustang. You should all be careful with the name "Ford GT."
  8. Ford GT is an opportunity for Ford to show that it can make 500k supercars. This car could be the gateway to others Ford GTs and elevate the brand's landing through the high-value Supersports car segment. You can't screw it up now. When an American brand made a 500k car that is having the acceptance of the Ford GT? And now fails with one of the largest collectors of German supersports. I hope that this concern is not just mine and the investigative engineers
  9. I hope no more. That's why I'm worried. I think this investigation might or may not be finding out if there's something wrong that can be repaired to avoid cases like this. It's a huge glitch in a 500k car.
  10. If it is a technical failure, it can damage the reputation of the GT and cause serious injury to Ford. There are still 700 Ford GT's to be sold.If it is flawed, hopefully it will be of the specific model, otherwise a recall would have to be carried out, which would also increase the image loss of the car. I think that could be serious.
  11. While four Ford GTs were racing around the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France over the weekend, a regular old street legal version burned to the ground outside Munich, Germany. It seems that nobody was hurt, but you can stick a fork in this Ford because it’s definitely done. German news outlet Rosenheim 24 reported that on Saturday, June 16 in the early afternoon, fire crews responded to a call at the Ostermünchener Bahnhof (Bahnhof means train station) and were able to extinguish the flames coming from the $500,000 car and contain what Google translated as “an oil spill.” I’m sure the car was leaking all its functional fluids, considering the fact that the entire engine bay appears to have been consumed by flames. Fortunately the Germans are also reporting that the car’s occupants, apparently 52-year-old man and his son, were able to get out unhurt before the conflagration consumed the car. Police from the region of Bad Aibling issued a release stating that “According to license plate, the vehicle comes from the state capital or the district of Munich. The fire seems to have broken out at the rear of the vehicle.” (Translated from German.) Carscoops said that “The owner of this GT is well known in the German car scene and owns a plethora of supercars and hypercars,” which would make sense but I haven’t seen confirmed elsewhere. The car allegedly only had about 40 miles on its odometer. As to what caused the fire, we reached out to Ford and while the company is aware of the incident, its engineers are still in the process of determining exactly what happened. Locals news speculates that “a technical failure” took place (which–no shit). I suppose it definitely does look like the fire started in the engine bay, as opposed to an errant cigarette in the cabin or something, but I’m very curious to find out exactly what happened and hopefully we’ll get that information from Ford and/or local crash investigators soon. https://jalopnik.com/engineers-are-investigating-why-this-ford-gt-burned-to-1826921253
  12. The most difficult task for Ford will be to replace the Coyote 5.0 L for the 3.5 litre eco-booster V6 Raptor engine. Maybe only the GT (500/350) stays with the V8. Only with the Raptor's V6 can the Mustang be a GT-R Nismo Killer
  13. Fiesta Focus Ecosport Maverick Edge Nautilus MKC MKZ = C2 Explorer Aviator Continental Mach 1 Model E Mustang = CD6
  14. transit: +12.4% F-Series: +11.3% Mustang: +10.7% Are three
  15. Mustang's a big hit from Ford. These sales of Stang only show how consolidated it is
  16. MKT is an excellent car in comfort and powertrain. If it had a conventional design, it could be selling 1000 potential units, helping Lincoln to reach 10000 units a month and bump into Infiniti and Acura
  17. If MKT and MKS were beautiful cars, such as MKX and MKZ in the era of the winged grid, they could have sold much more. Lincoln has been greatly hampered by bad designers since the Mark VIII (exception to LS)
  18. The Continental was the most shaken model with the reduction of fleet sales. MKC is, without a doubt, the biggest success of Lincoln Motor, and it is not for being cheap, but Fiesta and ecosport would be the best sold by Ford. The Ford GT is having a lot of exported units, isn't it? Does anyone also know when Nautilus and MKC will debut in stores?
  19. Anyone have any idea to make that Can be the model E? Passenger car or SUV?
  20. What name do you think the MKC will receive in 2020?

  23. Ford Romania BUCHAREST (Romania), May 22 (SeeNews) - US car maker Ford Motor Company said on Tuesday it is investing up to 200 million euro ($235 million) and adding 1,500 jobs to manufacture a second vehicle at its Craiova assembly plant in Romania. Approximately 1,500 jobs are expected to be created, bringing workforce at Craiova to 5,900, Ford said in a press release. The new vehicle is in addition to the EcoSport small SUV currently built in Craiova, plus Fords 1.0‑litre EcoBoost engine. The model and start date for production of the second vehicle will be confirmed closer to launch. This new investment will add to our evolving line-up of exciting new models manufactured in Europe and continues the transformation of our Craiova facility," Steven Armstrong, president and CEO, Ford of Europe, Middle East & Africa, said. "The addition of this second vehicle is a testament to the operational flexibility of our Craiova plant and reflects the strong partnerships we have with local suppliers and the community," he added. Significant upgrades have recently been made to the Craiova vehicle operations, with more than 550 robots installed at the facility to further improve efficiency and quality in the paint, trim and chassis, and body shops, the company said. To support the new vehicle, Ford Romania expects to hire approximately 1,500 basic and skilled operators for a third shift to augment the current workforce of more than 4,400 employed at its world-class vehicle and engine assembly operations. The expected increase in vehicle production at Craiova places even greater importance on the ongoing discussions between Ford and the Romanian government regarding infrastructure, the company added. In September, Romania's government pledged to Ford that it will complete the construction of Pitesti-Sibiu highway by the end of 2020, adding that the road link between Pitesti and Craiova is also a priority for the government. "Investing in Craiovas future is a sign of Fords trust in the Romanian governments promises to deliver key upgrades infrastructure and logistics improvements, which are needed to maintain the global competitiveness of the Ford Craiova manufacturing operations," Ford said. Any delay would significantly constrain Ford's and its suppliers efforts to move increased volumes of vehicles and components, Ford added. In October, Ford started production of the EcoSport SUV model at Craiova following a 200 million euro investment. Ford entered Romania in March 2008 when it wrapped up the acquisition of a 72.4% stake in Automobile Craiova, the sole owner of car maker and distributor Daewoo Automobile Romania. Ford Motor Company is based in Michigan, the U.S. and employs some 202,000 people worldwide. 24. The loss of production volume of the Fusion raises a question over the future of the Mondeo in Europe, because they share the same platform. In the short to medium term, Ford Europe is understood to have mapped the future of the Mondeo to the mid-2020s, although the picture after that remains fluid. The Ford Mondeo remains a core part of our product line-up in Europe. We have upgrades coming for Mondeo later this year and Mondeo continues to deliver on its promise of great driving dynamics, leading technologies and competitive pricing, Ford said in a statement. Details of the autumn upgrade are understood to include a new 2.0-litre diesel engine, codenamed Panther, which will be EU6d-compliant for the new WLTP driving cycle, with its real-world emissions and fuel economy testing, plus a new interior and tweaks to the exterior styling. The interior changes are tipped to include a new dashboard moulding incorporating the Fiesta/Focus-style infotainment system with a high-set tablet-style touchscreen. However, to keep the Mondeo in production to the mid-2020s, Ford Europe will have to fund developments to keep up with legislation without the volume of the US Fusion to offset costs. Analysts believe Ford Europe is prepared to do this for the next five to seven years, helped by a reasonable degree of financial stability, since it has been reliably profitable for the past two years and has had a strong start to 2018. But the crunch will come around 2020-2022 when Ford Europe will have to decide whether to go it alone with its own Mondeo replacement. At the Geneva motor show in March, Ford Europe boss Steve Armstrong told Autocar it was too early to consider the future of the Mondeo, although he conceded that the large saloon sector continues to shrink. We are constantly updating the car, from new transmission and engine options to a hybrid version and the Vignale trim. The interest is strong and we are a way off having to consider replacing it, he said. A lifeline for any new Mondeo is the Focuss new C2 architecture, which is understood to be sufficiently flexible to allow multiple track widths, wheelbases and firewall heights. This allows a large variety of vehicles to be spun off a single component set, like Volkswagens adaptable front-wheel-drive MQB set-up. High-cost items such as the electrical system and powertrains can be carried over from the Focus to the Mondeo. But justifying the unique development and tooling costs for a new body and interior and chassis tuning and certification costs will be a bigger challenge, as sales will be small. A planning volume of around 60,000 a year could be expected. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/ford-mach-1-ev-crossover-spearhead-new-era-car-maker
