  1. I'm not particularly fond of this design. Toyota is very hit or miss with their designs. This is a miss, it's just a bunch of styling elements mashed together. I don't even like the flared fenders, I saw them on the new Tacoma, it looked like it'd been stung by a swarm of bees.
  2. That's why I was so confused at the time, basically everyone else was telling me to stop, and here my driving instructor is telling me to be careless. The same driving instructor was basically mad that I wasn't redlining the hell out of the engine. They had a fleet of fusions, I believe they were around 2010/11s. I was talking to him about them sometime, he said they were reliable, and good cars for them, but I don't know what engine they had. Whatever it was, it was reliable, but pretty darn slow. It's against my nature to rev an engine hard, I feel bad when I push our explorer over 3k RPMs because I don't want to break it, I just like being gentle on cars. So with that in mind, I'm getting up to speed, but I'm accelerating more gradually/smoothly, while still trying to be safe. Well that annoyed him, he kept telling me to accelerate harder, and harder, until it gets to the point where I'm pushing like 5k RPMs everytime I'm accelerating. That's Utah in a nutshell out here, they teach you to drive like nutcases. You see people out here accelerating aggressively, swerving, tailgating, speeding like you wouldn't believe, not letting people merge into their lane, running red lights, it just goes on and on. No-one out here can drive.
  3. I remember my driving instructor telling me I was too cautious when driving because I slowed down when making a right turn on a red. I would gradually come to a stop, check to see if anyone was coming, and then go. He told me you shouldn't come to a stop when doing that because "The drivers behind you won't expect you to and might hit you". I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
  4. Politically, I think it's both sides. I've found that, especially the hardcore people on both ends just want to blame all their issues on the other side. Case in point, I can't even talk to my grandparents without them thinking everyone who's ever supported Republicans are evil.
  5. I'll take it a step further, we've seen the arrival of highly flexible EV platforms that can be used for virtually any type of vehicle, with a ton of different looking top hats. Tesla should develop such a platform, and sell it to startups, and established players who are far behind in the EV race. With their reputation, and competitive tech, I could see them finding a lot of success in selling to smaller brands. Brands buying Tesla's highly flexible platform rather than developing their own.
  6. No, car brands aren't at fault for other's reckless driving. If a judge decided to deem that they were partially at fault, that would set a very dangerous legal precedent. Because any car can speed, and be driven recklessly. Ford advertises their trucks as being rugged and durable, that doesn't justify me using my maverick to ram other drivers off the road. A brand can advise someone one how to use something properly, but they can't force owners to follow those guidelines. Holding brands response for street racing would be like holding a parent responsible for their child burning their hand on a hot stove when the parents kept saying not to touch it.
  7. He's probably going off about how all these complaints are made up by people paid off by the big 3 to hurt Tesla, and talking about how any day now, Ford is gonna go out of business, any day now...
  8. This is insane. The mach-e is rapidly becoming one of my favorite EVs.
  9. Don't be obtuse, I find the triangular design to be rather adorable, acute even.
  10. Weren't there some coupes and sedans that were going to use CD6 at one point? It's such a shame those projects were canned.
  11. Fingers crossed they're able to deliver on this. I'm hoping to see a ton of variety from this platform. Ideally Ford doesn't just give us what we're expecting, some sort of round escape EV and a maverick, and actually offers some surprises that go beyond our expectations.
  12. I'm excited, in terms of what this affordable EV platform will underpin, it sounds like almost nothing is off the table. Influential people associated with the program said it was basically being designed to be all things to all people, with a very wide range of top hats. He specifically mentioned trucks, SUVs and vans, and then got all cryptical and said amongst other things. I'll have to try and track down the quote. But that amongst other things comment makes me hopeful for some sort of sedan or coupe. Trucks, and SUVs need to be given development priority, higher sales volume and all that, but I'm sincerely hoping Ford's at least toying with the idea of doing some sort of car form factor.
  13. Toyota design has done a massive 180 for me, I used to view their cars as the ugliest in the industry. For some time, their designs had no cohesion, or flow to them. Look at the most recent Avalon, it's a nice, subtle sedan, then you get to the front, and it has this massive, aggressive grille. Just one of many examples of design elements clashing. The current rav 4 and lc 500 were massive turning points for Lexus/Toyota design. They kept the Japanese quirkiness, but toned it down, and managed to create designs with a better sense of flow and proportion. The newest MR2 concept looks incredible.
  14. The Everest is a good product, but I just don't see the appeal over a bronco. It would make more sense to develop a fixed roof bronco imo.
  15. Interesting, so they're probably in the early design/engineering phase for the second gen I'm guessing, not super far along. That's assuming they've started development at all. Hopefully Ford doesn't canceled the second gen outright due to slow sales, the mach-e did a lot to give Ford's EVs an aspirational image. Let's hope they don't just walk away from that.
  16. Interesting decision to invest in a refresh, especially if we're still on to see a second gen mach-e in 2026. Unless they decide to push that back, which is a real possibility, doing a refresh this late in the game seems wasteful.
  17. Elon responded and said this was a lie. Don't really know who to trust here, modern media outlets or the master of empty promises. If this is true, that's great news for Ford provided they push on with their own affordable EV platform.
  18. It always looked like a fisher price, or should I say Fisker price take on the land Rover evoque to me.
  19. They got it wrong, but show me a global long standing company that's never gotten it wrong. The story here shouldn't be they got it wrong, it should be they realized they got it wrong, and were open minded enough to adapt.
  20. At this point, they'd be fools to keep the polarizing styling if they just delayed their product by three or more years. Sure, that design might have given buyers another 20 miles of range, but as other posters have said, kia's boxy EV three row has a very low drag coefficient. So you can have a good looking design and areo efficiency all in one. Ford just has to get more creative.
  21. Very nice, may I ask what this color is called? Everytime I see it, I always think it's classy, but eye catching at the same time. I've thought about getting our explorer wrapped in a similar color.
  22. It sounds like they are keeping the escape, that's almost certainly what this new affordable EV utility is now that we know it's not a BS. As for the edge, there are a lot of ways they could keep that going as well.
  23. I'm fairly certain he's just trying to illustrate how far car performance has come. All the balding guys with their beer guts and 60s Shelby mustangs would get absolutely demolished by a 20 yr old driving a base ecoboost. So yeah, we need to put the V8 guys in their place a little bit when it comes to the newer mustangs.
  24. It's not just faster than a 98 mustang gt, the s650 Ecoboost was pegged with a 0-60 time of about 4.5 seconds. That means it's about as fast as a s550 gt with a manual. The V8 has some advantages, it's more reliable of course, it's easier to tune and make big numbers with, and it fits the muscle car personality more than the ecoboost. But the days of the base sub V8 mustangs being slow or bad cars are well behind us.
  25. I discussed investing in this company a few weeks ago. Glad I held off 😂.
