  1. If Flex is such a great vehicle, why can't Ford figure out how to sell more than 30k of them per year? Oh yeah... it's an answer to a question nobody asked.
  2. Call it a "Crossover Utility Vehicle" instead of "wagon" and it will fly off the lots.
  3. Altima is a few thousand cheaper than Fusion (comparing mid-level trims)
  4. Price insurance on a Mustang and a Mustang GT. Or a Civic and a Civic Si. The "hot" model is more likely to be crashed/stolen, hence the higher premiums.
  5. If you don't mind the boy-racer interior/exterior and hefty insurance premium. I don't need the extra attention from cops or fart-can ricers wanting to race at every stoplight.
  6. It's possible... the 4-banger Fox Mustangs weighed 2800lbs. That's with heavy iron motors, rear axles, steel driveshaft and control arms, etc.
  7. No manual tranny option with either the 2.0 EB or AWD? Come on Ford, you could own the sports sedan segment with minimal effort and off-the-shelf parts.
  8. BOOM as in mechanically rip itself open, not explode.
  9. Flamability of hydrogen isn't the problem; it's that you need a large high-pressure cylinder to store enough energy to make the vehicle go 100+ miles. Also, the tank needs to survive severe crashes. A ruptured gas tank leaks. A ruptured hydrogen tank goes BOOM. Then there's the issue of production and storage (hydrogen molecules are so small they leak past seals).
  10. And the dealer will counter with "It's a rare model; there are only 4 on the entire East coast." Or at least that was my experience when I bought my 6-speed Frontier. Dealer tried to screw me by $2200, so I walked out. Fortunately, one of the other 3 manuals was at a local competing dealer. Knocked the 2nd dealer down on price, then used that as leverage when the first dealer called back.
  11. Copying Honda with the gaudy chrome band on the grille:
  12. With sticker prices in the $40-50k range for that Mexican POS. Sells about as well as the Ford Flex...
  13. Maybe it'll be what the Mazdaspeed 6 should have been...
  14. GM is finally dropping the Avalanche. 6000lb curb weight and less payload than a Ford Ranger; no wonder they aren't flying off the lots. GM discontinuing Avalanche
  15. The styling makes me think they're chasing the bizarre wrinke/crease/character-line look of the Korean brands.
  16. GMC made sense when GM had more brands so that Pontiac/Oldsmobile/Cadillac dealers could still move GM trucks. Not so much now.
  17. I know 20 and 30-somethings that bought new manual transmission vehicles they didn't know how to drive. They learned. 10% manual take rate isn't bad since you can only get one in either a fully stripped or fully loaded Focus.
  18. 1/3 of people are idiots. They buy a hybrid to "save money on gas", then they trade in after 3 years like clockwork. They would save much more money in the long run by buying a small car and keeping it 7-10 years.
  19. Tundra booty shakes worse than that on round wheels
  20. It's $7.25/hour wrench monkeys doing the work. The last time I let a minimum wage flunky change my oil, he reinstalled the oil plug with an impact wrench and split the pan. Leaked a quart a day until I raised enough hell and made them pay for an oil pan replacement.
  21. "Lifetime powertrain warranty" usually only covers "internally oil lubricated parts". It's not going to cover the parts that are likely to wear out/fail prematurely (water pump, alternator, fuel injectors, fuel pump, etc. It's just a ploy to get you to do all your service at the dealership so they can sell you additional services.
