Ford's Baby Bold Move:

Recommended Posts

Damn, and I complained about spending $10 on a pack of condoms this week...

Well that would be ONE way of preventing child care costs!!! Maybe Ford and Trojan can get together and make a type of car covering that resists anything, including children!!!!

Any ideas on this marketing of alternative "child care"?

I could think of one, when the Trojan man rides up in a pimped out Escape Hybrid and says something all safe-sex like, you wouldn't want to start a family in one of these, unless you want great fuel economy!!

Depends on the amount of time. I have three kids. We have to drop them off at the daycare about 6:30 each morning. The daycare walks them over to school at about 8:30 after they feed them breakfast, and it costs $15 per day, per kid.

That's not bad--unless you're getting a volume discount. Around here the good places are three bills a kid, per week. I think about $125-$150's the norm.

:hysterical: How would you fit an Edge in the Family Planning section of your local pharmacy? Life on the Edge indeed.

I don't think Fordis in the business of preventing people from having children. I mean...with vehicle names such as "Probe" and "Escort" I think they are Pro-children. Plus, having had sex inside cars before, I can testify that the Expy's/Explorer power dissapear/folding 3rd row seat, popping the back window hatch (for air), definatly makes it very comfortable to try anything.

Now, about this Panorama Vista-Roof on the MK-X, I think that gives me ideas...

So this is just the child-care services they're closing?

How much is private day-care going for?

I have one preschooler...$135 a week, up to 10 hours a day, set scheduled times. It would have been that much in an outside daycare for just 3 days for less hours.

:hysterical: :hysterical: I never said Ford should be anti-child, but maybe there should be a "backseat" lobby. A group of people dedicated to lobbying Ford to include standard sexual position and/or kama-sutra toys in the back of every SUV? Could you imagine the sales!!!

I mean back in the day VHS won the format war over Beta tapes because pr0n was only available on VHS!!!

Look at it this way, Ford would get huge ups in the family department if they advertise that you can start a family in the back of any Ford. Imagine this "The fertility of your Ford is unmatched...."

Yeah but then we'll have the AFA attacking Ford for another controversial issue. Sex. I mean, they are all so holy that their existance is the result of immaculate conceptions. Sex isn't something they do, yet, ban against, so who knows what their stance will be. Actually, sort of like Jehovah's Witnessess...they dont' do anything that's fun.

Hmm that gives me a thought...writting a book titled "Kama Sutra Commutes...100 Ways To make your drive pleasurable"

Actually I do know of someone who her and her co-workers sued their company because of preferential treatments towards workers with families. They were annoyed how they were made to work on holidays since the other people had families...how they were given "X" numbers of "family days", "bring your kids to work day", they killed the company gym and replaced it with child-care room, etc.etc. Amazingly, they won.

I have one child, she's 2 1/2, and our daycare lady charges $4 per hour. She takes my daughter at 5am, so I can get to work before my shift starts at 6. She lives just a few miles away. My wife works nights as an RN, so she gets some sleep then picks up our daughter at 1pm. So the costs add up, but it's worth it. I live too far away from work to have even considered a Ford/UAW daycare center..and to be honest, I don't want my child around all that. So Ford closing them doesn't matter to me.

For anyone who relied on one of those centers, try contacting the Child Care Network..they're in the phone book, or your benefits rep can probably give you the phone #...they helped me out by finding a care provider in my area.

Elizabeth Drotar, a salaried worker at Ford and a mother in her 30s, breastfeeds her infant during breaks at work at a center in Dearborn that is closing. She said the news was devastating.

Drotar’s husband also works at Ford, and she said her family feels Ford’s financial pain acutely these days. One of the reasons she decided not to take a company buyout was because she didn’t think she’d find another daycare center that was as good.

“I understand the financial troubles, but they didn’t even see if there was anything they could do to cut costs,” she said in a telephone interview Friday. “I’d be willing to pay more, but they didn’t even approach us. … There are going to be a lot of parents who are very upset.”

Could it be the child care was far too expensive even with a copayment from employees?

Seems strange as the remainder of the facilities stay open. It's a shame because this looked like a decent system.
