National Healthcare.

Almost a third of our pouplation? This goes to show how uneducated people are. There are 300 million people in the U.S. I'm not beating you up, I think most people hear this shit and spew it, like they know it all. I for one dont want to live in the richest country in the world and have homeless children, uneducated people, or sick people because they didnt catch a break in life. Most hourly workers at Ford are doing the best they can! If Ford goes, so does their health ins. now what do you do? Lose everything you ever worked for because you get sick? Or do we all decide to take the profit out of the system and pay a little more in taxes. If we have National Health, we now have freedom! I dont have to stay with a sorry company like Ford, because Ford dosnt give a shit about you or your family. But right now I'm doing the best I can, and without the Union, we wouldnt have shit. So push freedom, national health care and then I can work somewhere else! I may not make the same money but at least I know my children will have health care.

I heard that!

I grew up without national health care, and without health insurance. So did everyone else my age. We made out ok. Why is there this paranoia to-day? It is mass hypochondria fueled by the bleeding heart power-seeking liberals and socialists. Keep on eating the crap that they tell you to eat and you will be sickly. Skin and bones is not healthy. Healthy puts these rats out of business.

Jesus, you just love spewing nonsense left and right, huh? Come on, this is ridiculous. You really think healthcare is the reason people get sick? That's funny, seems to me as healthcare gets more advanced the average lifespan just keeps on getting longer. Sure, a hundred years ago no one had significant healthcare, and they also had a life expectancy of probably 50-60 yrs. So what'll you think will happen if you have no health insurance and you get an operable cancer? Or you're in an accident and suffer broken bones and internal injuries? The out of pocket costs for things like this are amazingly high, that's where insurance comes in so that you pay a small amount pooled together with everyone's small amount to afford catastrophic events. What you're doing is burying your head in the sand and saying "It'll never happen to me". Just like the government doesn't allow you to drive a car without auto insurance you shouldn't be allowed to not have health insurance, it's as simple as that. It isn't some government conspiracy or secret plot to ruin your life, it's in everyone's best interest. So far healthcare has completely failed to function in the competitive marketplace like other businesses, the capitalist system for healthcare is a joke.

It amazes me how some of you can trash Ford in one breath and then in another say how many people would be hopeless and lost without the company that does not give a shit about them. Based on what some of you say I should be amazed that the majority of the population seems to be making it ok though they do not work for Ford or are members of the UAW! :shades:

For me, I can understand Ford's desire to want to reduce our health care cost. They can't control what they are charged in premiums from their insurers, and their insurers know they are obligated to provide certain levels of coverage! Ford's only option for controlling health care cost is to force us to pay on our premiums! I can't stand insurance companies!

FREEDOM???? ARE YOU NUTS?? You now have 50% plus tax rate! Youi now go to whatever doctor (and I use that term loosely) the government tells you to. And whenever the politicians want to to "vote" a certain way on anything, they will use "nation healthcare" to make you do it!

This is a lightning rod issue.

Truth be told, the government would rather we accept them as a solution, rather than force them to make the healthcare industry see it our way.

Why?

Because the government would like nothing more than to be able to tax you another 1/2 to 1 trillion a year, throw it in the general fund, then when they run short of money claim it is because of healthcare which you will all fund instantly. (kinda like they are claiming SS is short, but it wasn't, it just is now cause they spent it)

Until all of us/you, decide to bitch at your representatives, congressmen, senators, and tell them you are not as STUPID as they think you are...........and WILL vote them out if they do NOT get a handle on what is happening, every one of you is going to blame your employer for the things that are happening.

Don't you realize that the number 1 reason Ford is in the tank is because of fuel prices?!?!?!! They knew that their was sufficient fuel, so they built trucks to keep the money floating in. What they didn't know was-------->that a bunch of enviro nuts would write their representatives, and you would not, meaning the minority would rule the day.

The only reason that YOU are behind the 8 ball is----------->they are together. They are a group. You are fragmented, and the politicicians know they will vote and what it is they want.

They have no chance if you write, tell them to get real or theyu are tossed, and follow through by voting and toss them for their transgressions, regardless of party affiliation.

Each and every one of you would like a raise, would you not? Well why aren't you putting pressure on the government to get the oil, convert coal, and tell enviros to go screw themselves for another 15 yrs when what they want becomes reality? Instead, you would rather fight your employer. Go figure! Gas at 1.75 a gallon not only gives most households a 50 buck savings a week, (which is actually a raise for all intensive purposes) it also brings your company back to prominence.

Look, plan, and understand who is screwing you. Once you discover who is really laying the woody to you, ya might decide it is time to change who you attack. If ya don't, you are asking Ford to subsidize you, cause the enviro nation is hammering both of ya, and you just don't give a damn to figure it out or write those who will run like chickens, with enough letters in their in-box!!!!!

I am paying plenty out of pocket now, like seven hundred dollars a week for nothing. The left has latched onto health care as a means to control people. Global warming falls into the same category. What requires more labor, changing the motor in a car or cutting out a tumor? Which costs more? Why? One is life or death, and the other isn't. It is like being kidnapped and held for ransom. If you don't pay, you die. People are now flying to India for surgery because it is cheaper even after they pay for their transportation and accomodations.

Here is a point of interest, Today I saw the first T.V. commercial advertising a general hospital (Akron General). Then I remembered back a couple of months ago, there was an add in our local newspaper about our community hospital cutting back. It would seem that because of the huge loss of good paying manufacturing jobs in my area, That the hospitals are now fighting over the rest of the people who still have medical coverage! It also seems that rather than cut the pay for hospital administrators that the would prefer to cut heads so they can continue to pay for their over priced lifestyles. It's the same in all administrations be it hospitals, our schools, our city representatives, our management. They think they're smarter so they deserve more when it's our labor that moves this country! When will they realize that the idea of annual increases can not be sustained if the rest of the country has already had them taken from them. In most cases there have been concessions!

There are many people that use tobacco when their doctor has told them that they need to quit but they refuse. There are many people with sugar, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc......their doctors have told them that they need to change their lifestyles......they refuse.

Why should doctors be penalized for their patients refusal to care for themselves?

Some good points here, there is plenty of blame to go around on the healcare issue, and this is the first post in 4 pages that adresses Americans not taking responsability for their actions. I mean look at how many ppl. are overweight with a poor diet and don't exercise, why is it sooo many Americans wait until they are sick and then go the doctor and expect them to take care of the problem and make them all better after a long history of abusing their health, and they want it done cheap!

How about some preventive healthcare, you know, going to get regular physicals and check ups, a lot of ppl. who have good health insurance don't go in for a yearly physical, they just waiy until a problem is discovered and then take care of it. I hear a lot of outrage towards Insurance companies, pharm. manf. etc. and rightly so, but ppl. who take horrible care of themselves should be held acountable for all the $$ yhey cost the rest of us.

On another note, I am looking forward to seeing the film Sicko when it comes out.

And Swensen you make some great points!

It would be easier to swallow if they where not living so nicely while the rest of the population are fighting for scraps! They're was an announcement today that a local duct tape manufacturer is moving operations to the Philippines. this will lay off several hundred workers, and eliminate more manufacturing jobs.

And what does this have to do with healthcare? But yeah I will play anyway. The number 1 reason Ford is in the Tank is fuel prices? hahahahaha what about a sorry ass product lineup for the most part(there are a few gems) or how about bad managment, being too dependent on SUV's and being short sighted. And you say Ford knew there was sufficent fuel? hahaha you are sooo funy sometimes.

The treehuggers are the cause of high fuel prices? Gas at 1.75 a gallon is really a pay raise? Not if you don't drive a car like me and a butt load of other ppl.

Not a very well thought out post Whosure, at all!

I guess our trucks suck too. that would explain their sales record when fuel was still cheap. :hysterical: No one wants a small car, we're being forced into them. Fords problem was they ignored the car market. Watch things change! As far as our line-up I think it looks drastically better than it did in 04'. Even the 500/Taurus if it would have been available in 06' I would not be driving a Fusion. Ford just needs to turn over the interior design to the designers of the fusion's interior. Right now it looks a little too refined, I like my cars sporty.

LOL, it has nothing to do with healthcare, besides the fact that due to guys like you, if Ford goes under, many will be without it, lol.

Lets face it Planet, regardless of you attempting to come off innocent and silly, you are far from it. We both know that the reason fuel remains high, is your lobby won't allow not only drilling for more oil, but no coal conversion, no refinerys, no nothing.

It may not be through your efforts personally, but the people who believe as you believe have been a large reason that this has come to pass. I send you congrats on your success so far, but also warn you that the regular people of this country are awakening, and just as you revel in helping force people out of large vehicles, I will revel in helping regular people realize what is going on.

If they choose your nonsense, then so be it. But I believe differently, and SO DO YOU, and that is why you fear regular Americans making their opinions heard..........cause it is a slam dunk, you lose!!!!!

And to think, eventhough virtually all these people have a job and drive a car.......unlike you I might add......all they need do is find a few minutes to write their congressman and senator up for election this cycle, and tell them to get the oil and convert the coal, and they want to see THEIR signature on the legislation for it, or they will PERSONALLY VOTE THEM OUT.

Watch how fast you enviro people become red headed step children in Washington. We both know this. Now all some of us need do is get them to write. I am doing quite well in that regard. I practice what I preach, and that ain't riding no bicycle while hugging a tree, putting American companys out of business. Hows about you? Who you trying to put out of business today, or what American you trying to force to do what you want? LOLOLOLOL.

See, my way offers choice, your way almost forces changes..........that's why it is called SOCIALISM, offspring of COMMUNISM, now isn't it!!!!!

P.S.

How does this relate to healthcare? Simple, due to the economic conditions forced upon everyone due to lack of drilling, lack of coal conversion, lack of refinery space, our American auto makers have been forced into a phoney and false market that has more to do with politics, than it has to do with economic reality.

If the workers or retirees lose their healthcare, jobs, or anything else, it is not because Ford, GM, or Chrysler did not accurately play the market, it is rather because people like planet lobbyed to change the rules and create a false need.

We can create all the fuel we want, we can supply ourselves with it, we can even drill more oil if we want. How come it is not happening and you are paying 3 bucks a gallon then?

Ask an enviro, lol.

I'll second that. Hey, Imawhosure what is that link to our congressmen again. I heard a senator on a news cast saying that they need to consider the will of the people writing the immigration bill. I'm assuming it is e-mails and letters from people like you that is making the difference!

Universal health care is the only issue that I agree with Micheal Moore on. I just heard a report on the news that 30% of all health care premiums on average go to administration costs. In 2005 my medical care policy cost Ford $10,610 that means that $3,183 went to the insurer and not health care for their customers. If the government took over I just hope they check legal status so the hospital know who to send the bill to. If the patient is not a citizen then they should get a bill, even if they are here on a work visa! Even if the government took over the roll of administrating insurance programs and companies paid the premiums to the government the could cut 30% in cost to our employers. It could be subsidized by tax money we already pay.

Ok smart ass for your information Ford joined USCAP yesterday, Ford is the one lobbying for Carbon caps, kind of shoots a giant hole in Whosures----- treehuggers=overpriced healthcare theory.

Do you think that is a possible attempt to get foriegn entities to play by the same rules we have to in order to try and balance the playing field?

It's not

treehuggers=overpriced healthcare theory
. I believe he was trying to say that they are similar in how it's being done. There is a minority lobbying for it while the majority who are against it are remaining quiet. We need to wake up and start telling these politicians what we want. If we let our voice be heard we can change things, just like when the illegal amnesty bill that just got shot down today because the majority of the people actually spoke out about it.

Socialized Medicine is Sicko

Michael Moore's new movie, "Sicko", is set to inject a large dose of misinformation and propaganda into our national dialog about health care policy. According to one observer, Michael Moore has created a love letter to the Canadian system. However, Americans should know that Canada rations health care and that many Canadians wait inordinately long periods of time for urgent medical treatment. The Fraser Institute's annual report "Waiting Your Turn" estimates that Canadians are waiting for nearly 800,000 medical procedures. If the Canadian system was adopted in the U.S. -- and you assume one person per treatment - that would translate to nearly 7.3 million Americans. Not 7.3 million Americans theoretically without health care due to a lack of insurance -- but 7.3 million Americans who need medical treatment but cannot get it without being on long waiting lists.

How long? In Canada, it depends on the province and the type of treatment. The median wait time for medical treatment in Canada in 2006 was 17.8 weeks. However, this doesn't tell the whole story. It's not hard to find Canadians who have waited months to get an MRI, and years for some types of treatments. There are multiple kinds of waits in the Canadian system: the wait to see a specialist, the wait to get a diagnostic test, the wait to get surgery -- and then the wait for rescheduled surgery after one's initial surgical appointment has been cancelled -- sometimes multiple times -- a routine phenomenon. Waits for orthopedic surgery can be multiple years - and in the case of some elderly Canadians - forever. Waits for things like gastric bypass and sleep apnea treatment are routinely 4-5 years.

P.S. And besides poor care, think about how much this will eventually cost us taxpayers considering our Government can't run anything efficiently except spending obscene amounts of money.
