richardmayo
Beginning Monday, October 8, FoMoCo will suspend production of its F-series Super Duty pickup for two weeks. According to Ford, sales have slumped because of the housing slowdown (Damn subprime mortgage market!), a variable that seems to have a profound effect on pickup sales. Ford's sales analyst, George Pipas, says that the production halt is a way to avoid excess inventory and has nothing to do with September's sales decline of Ford pickups by 20.8-percent. 7Mary3
That is funny! We are going to stop building them for a while, but that has nothing to do with the fact nobody is buying them.
armadamaster
Whew....well at least it has nothing to do with the current Superduty being the absolute fugliest ever made. How they could have taken such a good looking truck and fuglied it up so bad....and then decide to pass it along to E-series as well. I ordered a new F250. One of the reasons is because I think they look great. I parked my GMC 2500HD next to a superduty and as far as I could see, the looks of the Ford were far better than the GMC. The interior is nicer, the build is better, etc.
armadamaster
Thats like calling the kettel black that roadmaster your sporting is work of art Never said it was a head turner, I buy for substance anyway. Better hope returning Superduty buyers too do, because it ain't gonna be for looks. Especially in fleet white with the acres of black plastic grille working overtime. That's odd. Even on the GM and Dodge boards the majority feel Ford has the meanest and best looking truck out right now! The GM and Dodge boards oughta now, especially the GM ones, since the current GM offerings almost directly robbed headlamps from the last gen Superduty parts bin and Dodge taillamps and tailgates right out of the current gen Ram's parts bin. I have to reply because you can easily see where I'm from lol. People can see things in different ways. The truck is nice to some, ugly to some. What matters is what the majority thinks. There are other cars besides roadmasters, caprices, and CVs.

Taking a look at your list of past and present automobiles, I would wonder if you don't like Ford products in general as according to your list, you have never owned a Ford. Reminds me of my cousin who hated Fords. His father worked at the Framingham GM plant until it shut down. They were loyal GM people. Can't blame them. He would say Fix Or Repair Daily and I would say Garbage Motors. Then there's Toilet Odor (Toyota).

The new SDs remind me of the son of the news reporter on Family Guy. The kid had an upside down face. And someone mentioned the interior. The interior is just like the Mustang. Extremely cheap and a sea of cold hard plastic. I sat in a SD at the auto show and could not believe how cheap the interior of a $56,000 truck is. I think that the "higher ups" at Ford walk on all fours and eat bananas.

The plastic is normal for trucks. The FSeries, Tundra, Ram, Titan, its really all the same. As I have said before, styling is subjective, not objective. Wow, that's riveting. And my dad can beat up your dad. BTW, I've never owned a station wagon, but thanks, try again. Need some fuel $$$ to make it over here? Or a good tranny shop perhaps? My auto dealer buddy bought 6 of those at an auction for his inventory, mint condition, extremely low mileage, 5 of them went straight to the tranny shop.... I do hate Ford FWD products, the RWD ones are ok by me, but my obvious preference are the Panthers, since they offer all the qualities I demand in a domestic automobile. My B-bodies will most likely get replaced with such the next time around. GM has made it's fair share of junk and enemies, especially in recent years. They've repeatedly refuse to offer a RWD coupe or sedan for years now anyway, thus, they do not desire my business. Ken F.
Well, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. . . . I always thought they said beauty was in the eye of the "BEER HOLDER". Anyways, I believe sales are going to tank something awful. Residential construction has almost completely stopped. Most Super Duties around Michigan were purchased with PowerStrokes. But diesel fuel used to cost 30% less than gas, now it is 30% more. The cost of the PowerStroke engine also increased by 50% over what it was a few years ago. And many of us have heartburn over the 6.0L. Not so much over the fact that there were problems. But mainly about the way the problems were handled. (BAD Customer Service) I need another truck. I will probably go with a GMC this time. They have the 6-speed with double overdrive. That's gotta help with fuel economy. On the Ford, they only have the 5.4, which is underpowered, and the V10, which only comes with a 4:10 gear. So it looks like a 6.0 GMC gasser with a 3:73 and a 6 speed auto.
