Michael Reynolds
I'm surprised...... At least Ford didn't force an Explorer rebadge on Volvo, like GM did with Saab. The 9-7X's crash test scores do nothing to advance Saab's safety heritage.
Ralph Greene
Did they insinuate, if you're willing to spend a little more, the Lincoln MKX is a tad safer than the Edge....Which is itself a top pick? Did I read that right? that doesn't make any sense to me.

No, what the article did make mention of is that if you are willing to spend a little more you can pick from these SUVs that have ALSO earned Top Pick awards. LincolnFan
No kidding... How did the Vic manage to get a 5-star crash rating again?
waymondospiff
Nice shout-out at the end of the article for the Edge, Taurus X, & MKX. Interesting: the Trailblazer, a 2002 design, not offering torso airbags is understandable - it's old! However, the 2005 Grand Cherokee not offering them? Unacceptable. Seems like the Explorer is competitive and in-the-mix for "traditional" midsize SUVs. Scott
P71_CrownVic
How did the Vic manage to get a 5-star crash rating again? You must not do a lot of research. I'll remember that next time you post something. Click this link and read what they have to say------->IIHS I have said it before and will say it again; unless the frame is involved, the Panthers are not very safe cars. If the frame is involved...they can take just about anything.
