First post of 2010 ! What happened to everyone?

Good to see so much positive press about Ford in the news and media these days. Ford can do no wrong, whether its quality, styling or the new CEO. There is a lot of resentment out there towards the other big 2, but the public is very aware that Ford did not take public assistance and the results are becoming manifest. Mullaly has done a great job. My, how things change and what volatile times we live in. Nevertheless with Mullaly at the helm, even a smaller Ford can look forward to competing with the best instead of being destroyed by the competition which was a possible scenario not to long ago. Wish I bought some Ford stock last year.

Can we say we are out of the woods now?

We have come to a clearing. Unfortunately, it is where the bears gather to share their economic forecasts, and eat.

I heard today that the TPTs will be back in the plant on January 25. Can anyone confirm this? If so will they only be working on Mondays and Fridays or will it be Monday thru Friday?

So if we allow Ford to have TPTs at OAC while we have people on layoff where does it end? What's to stop them from laying off 500 more people and hiring 800 more TPT's?

In my opinion, if our union allows this to happen it is the single biggest mistake they have ever made.

They sold us on TPTs by dangling all the long weekends we wanted in front of us.

And how about the way the brothers and sisters from Windsor have been treated???

It is a disgrace.

Car of Year, Truck of the Year, stock price has shot up and Ford is getting excellent press.

Toyota is adding 800 jobs in April, GM is adding 1000 this year or next and what is Ford, the company with the smallest manufacturing footprint in Canada doing?

Laying people off and closing a plant next year. If it is so damned expensive to turn a profit here why are these other companies increasing their investment?

Sorry to ramble on but I thought that maybe we could use this forum to talk about our plant and our company.

heard the laid off were to have the first option for tpt. If they refuse that might effect EI+SUB and that would really suck because two days at tpt rate is a lot less then EI+SUB.

tpt language has been around since 2002, this has happened before the trunk plant would use them while we had brothers and sisters on layoff, to blame the union the members voted on it. i agree on windsor folks but who do you blame there?

We always had (and still do to this day with about 1000 on layoff) TPT's working while there are people on layoff. Those laidoff do not have to take a position as a TPT. TPT can only work to cover an employee who booked the day off and can not be used as supplemental labour.

^^^ A very deep parable which not even King Solomon could disipher. I assume the sheeps have to watch out for the bears? Are you a sheep or a bear?

Bears, as in bulls and bears. It is not very deep. It would make a good editorial cartoon. You could also do it using a hurricane analogy. Instead of a clearing, it would be the eye.

He obviously puts very little brainpower into them.

...unlike you, of course.

Why don't you enlighten us with some of your vast storehouse of knowledge.

I am a big bad Conservative. Your socialist masters tell you not to pay any attention to what I say. Socialism, like any other religion cannot stand up to logic or scrutiny. Anyone who does not believe is a heathen, heretic, witch, or racist, homophobe, neanderthal. There is never any explanation why; only that you must believe. I don't believe in believing. It damages your mind. Once you start believing in the absurd, you start acting funny. You talk to people who aren't there. You perform strange rituals. You chant slogans to shut down the thinking process. You honor dictators like Castro and Chavez and ignore their atrocities. Soon, you are out there where nothing makes any sense, so you are totally under the control of your mentors. They tell you what is right and wrong. They are all-knowing. You will drink the Kool-Ade.

where do you find the time

I have been a member for many years. I became curious when Ford tried to shut it down and took BON to court. They have reached a compromise. There is no more seeking out and posting Ford confidential inside information.

There should be some packages soon. There are people with over 30 years seniority whose jobs have been outsourced who are looking for any premium job that comes up so they will not have to go back to the line. They didn't ask for this, but they are the ones being bashed by the company, the union, and their fellow workers. Everybody should take the time to read the Charter of Rights. It is illegal to discriminate against people because of age.

What is the news at OAC. Your locals website hasn't been updated for awhile. Just wondering whats going on up there. Trim not need reply.

That is a good one! Someone from Windsor is telling someone from OAC to stay off his own thread. I will not tell you the same, because, unlike you and your fascist brethren, I am a fan of freedom of speech. Read the Charter of Rights.

Trim, I want to hear whats going on from an intelligent poster, not a doomsday worshiper who obviously has no life outside his cushy job.

You jackass, I'm probably older than you...and it's not illegal to discriminate against a jackass/moron/self-centered/pontificating, dumbass.

Go, don't go, nobody cares ....and whether I care or not is not subject to the laws/rules of the Ford Motor Company or the government.

And by the way ..I've been a member of BON for a lot longer than you, I mjust don't have any desire or the need to post thousands of lines of musings.

Unfortunately, there is little tolerance on this forum for people with differing opinions from the union doctrine. If you are not a left-leaning despot-loving socialist, you are despised and berated and attempts are made to silence you; just like they do under totalitarian rule. This forum is not just for you and your fellow travelers. I am not afraid or your ideas as you are obviously afraid of mine. Why is that? There is an old saying: "The truth hurts." People with hard wired ideologies like socialism and religion are "hurt" when they are shown to be wrong. They try to discredit the messenger using personal attacks or trying to silence them, but never take them on head-to-head using logical arguments.
