Fuel is still over US $5.50/gallon in Australia.

You don't have a government thats ripping you off, our prices would be just as cheap as the prices in the US its the fuel tax & another tax VAT that bumps the price up. So every time the price goes up so the government collects a big tax windfall, an $4 billion extra tax has been colleted by the Goverment since March.

Classic car fans want Browns head on a plate at the moment he wants Britain to be driving 100% electric cars buy 2020 and want oil based fuels banned from that date onwards.

Sorry JPD not even you Falcon will make it into the UK after 2010 unless its full of batteries, l can't help but think Gordon Bean will have a noose round his neck before then though, the daggers are out already from his own party members.

T-Stang won't be happy because his Triumph that only runs on a few cylinders will have to be scrapped.

In Order:

1. Our government does tax our fuel but it's midway between US and UK

2. Mr. Brown represents a vocal few at the moment out to save us from ourselves,

perhaps the UK doesn't use coal to generate electricity any more so I guess there's

"clean nuclear power" everywhere eh?

3. Bit of interesting info for you,

the Co2 levels for 2.3 auto Mondeo Vs 4.0 Auto Falcon, both with 6-speed autos:

- 2.3 auto Mondeo - 227 g/Klm

- 4.0 Auto Falcon - 241 g/klm

4. :hysterical:

Poor old TStang, his ears must be burning.:)

Mr Hutton's will identify sites in British waters for enough wind farms to produce 25 gigawatts (GW) of electricity by 2020, in addition to the 8GW already planned enough to meet the needs of all the country's homes.

It means that within only eight years, Britain's offshore wind industry will be twice the size of that of any other nation in the world.

Brown announced he will be spending $200 Billion on Wind Farms but it he is a bit of a windbag himself all talk and no action.

T-Stang will have cut a hole in the floor of his Triumph and do a Freddie Flintstone after 2020 it might move a bit faster though :hysterical:

We need gas prices stable, and high to encourage conservation if, the prices fall, The gavernment must do what it has failed to do, Tax fuel to keep this reduction in demand.

I think the argument over whether Gas Taxes is over they would work better than CAFE

All true. I would like to see a new tax that is added only when the price of gas goes down and is removed when it goes back up.

On the other hand, no one likes new taxes.

I disagree. Gasoline will NEVER be as cheap as it once was, at least until the dawn of Cold Fusion-- which is at least a century away.

Ford still has plenty of pickups and SUV's that nobody wants, not only due to gas prices, but because of change in cultural taste. 10 years ago, SUV drivers were thought of as rugged and adventurous. Now everybody knows better.

Now Ford has the Escape/Mariner/Tribute, Edge/MKX, Flex/MKT, and the current Taurus X, soon to be replaced with a new unibody Explorer.

By my count, Ford still has too many eggs in the CUV basket, just as they did in the SUV basket a decade ago.

Soon enough, wagons and hatchbacks will come back into fashion, once the baby boomers start dying off...

The problem I would have with a new gas tax, is the greed involved. In the beginning, it might only kick in when gas prices go down $.50 or more............... but soon, after they start getting the extra money................ it will just be there all the time.

It will be a big ol pile of money that they can help noone in the country with............. once again.

FJM, it's a pity Ford wouldn't do a "V6 Capri with Euro nose" off the US Mustang.

I'm sure a 2.5 Ecoboost under the bonnet would sell a storm in the UK.

Must be depressing to see FWD shyte everywhere you look.

Your right JPD the only RWD car choice you get from FOE is "Hobsons Choice" or a Ford Transit van take it or leave it.

Put a Mustang nose on a Falcon & Camry sales would get blasted out the water, and put a Porsche 911 nose on a Capri and Ford become the richest car comany in the world?

Its funny the affect that RWD has on people

http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/ford/al...ants-one-in-us/

Ford Australia took the wraps off its all-new FG Falcon sedan over the weekend, a large RWD sedan with a range of V8, turbocharged and straight-six engines, but sadly what’s possibly one of the most exciting sedans in Ford’s entire lineup will be limited to the Australia and few other local markets. The new Falcon, particularly the sports-luxury G6E Turbo, impressed Ford CEO Alan Mulally so much that he’s having one personally delivered to him in the U.S.

Mulally took a test drive of a prototype Falcon late last year and immediately fell in love with the car. After driving the 362hp (270kW) turbocharged G6E, Mulally told engineers the car was as good as the Lexus he had previously owned, reports GoAuto. “It must be very easy to get tickets in this car,” he told onlookers, adding that there was “nothing like this in our company.”

I am a ardent supporter of the GRWD. because it will the highest margin Car we have. this important to the US market and to europe which could benefit form a car that can command higher margins than their current commodity lineup.

Thus We need a Mustang, and D sized Taurus replacement on this architecture along with a collection of Lincolns both C/D sized and D sized.

FOE Would get the global mustang and a D sized 4 door coupe halo Car.
