MTPwife
FBI raid Toyota suppliers
RichardJensen
This'll get the conspiracy buffs going. Obviously, the feds are looking seriously at criminal negligence and/or obstruction of justice charges. --- Wild speculation below: the FBI may be looking for copies of documents that Toyota destroyed, but which its suppliers may still have. jpd80
Who would have thought the wheels would come off Toyota so badly in such a short time.

RichardJensen
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/24/ap/business/main6239254.shtml The raid has nothing to do with the Toyota investigation.

Oh sure it has nothing to do with the recall. Wink wink nudge nudge. (I'm sure the Toyota/government conspiracy guys are gushing all over this one)
lfeg
Completely different issue. But significant on its own. This is part of something that has been going on the last few years.
NLPRacing
Completely different issue. But significant on its own. This is part of something that has been going on the last few years. This, IMHO, will be MUCH bigger than "unintended acceleration". This has to do with Toyota's unfair business practices. They have been giving inside information to suppliers they own or prefer (due to them being Japanese) to make sure they get the jobs over any other bidders. This is just the start... If that's true, wouldn't that land them into anti-trust problems? Basically similar to when Intel was pushing makers to their chips.
lfeg
More about the suppliers than Toyota. It affects suppliers of many automakers. This has been grinding away in the background for a while. And it points to a particular problem in the transplant supplier field. Many business practices that are allowable in the far east are not quite acceptable here and in Europe. That's exactly why they were raided. (Detroit Free Press - Toyota suppliers raided as part of antitrust probe)
